UlmerPark B6 Posted December 8, 2008 Share #3 Posted December 8, 2008 It could be all the way up to 2011 if the Alstom/Kawasaki R-160 Options 'R for Remaining' is set... Now, just wait and see, it is in the Capital Program with the R-179's... So, pretty clear it could come true any minute... The R179s won't come, I bet until R160 Options finish coming. They've been doing this already since 2005, IIRC. ALSKAW is not a manufacturer, the cars are still being build under the two separate companies. As of this point, R160 cars are being based out of East New York and Coney Island Yards. The R160A Option Order 1 is, mostly likely, destined to Jamaica Yard. They recently ordered the Option 2 orders for both Alstom and Kawasaki. If everything is alright, production should begin in late 2009 and delivery beginning around 2010.
