Because I have to get dispersal camera, (F) for Fulton St Local, (G) Culver Line, (L) Shuttle Bus plan will be derail for tomorrow instead.

So, I started at 82nd St-Jackson Heights.

I got on conductor's car of Queensboro Plaza (7 ) R62A Bombadier #1835 departed 8:59.

Conductor did excellent job today.

Arrive 74th St-Broadwaway at 9:00.

I got on front car of Jamaica-179th St (E) Budd Company #3445 departed Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Av/

Conductor on (E) did well done job.

As train was pulling over at Forest Hills, conductor announced:

"Ladies & Gentlemen! May I have your attention, please! Due to construction work, there are no (E) train service to Jamaica Center-Parsons Blvd, Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av and Jamaica-Van Wyck. Last stop on all (E) and (F) train is Jamaica-179th St! For service to Jamaica-Van Wyck, Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av for LIRR and Airtrain JFK and Jamaica Center-Parsons Blvd, transfer at Union Turnpike for free shuttle bus on street level making all (E) stops between Kew Garden and Jamaica Center."

Arrive Kew Garden-Union Turnpike at 9:14.

Next I got on Jamaica Nova RTS-06 #8969 as (E) Shuttle Bus departed Queens Blvd/80th Rd at 9:17, stopping at Van Wyck Blvd, then at main entrance at Jamaica-Van Wyck, where b/o did excellent job. There was no one at shuttle bus stop helping out to explain to people.

After that, it was my lucky day.

Following by that train, I got on front car of Rockaway Park-Beach 116th St-bound (A) Budd Company #3695 departed at 10:53.

Even the (A) conductor did that excellent job.

As (A) train was arriving at Jay St, conductor announced,

Wow that's one big trip you had there, did you go by yourself all the way or did you have a partner? I am usually with someone doing those fan trips, especially if you're going all over the place today. I bet you used an unlimited metrocard that day.

I try to plan my trip around G.O.s!!!

Yuki, why do you choose to railfan when shuttle buses are running? I tend to conduct railfan trips on days when school is off yet the (MTA) is on a weekday schedule. That way, everything goes as planned.

Weekends can throw everything off, so when I must do things on weekends, such as Croton open house, I must plan at least a month in advance and have 3 or 4 alternate routes and pick one when the G.O. list comes in.

How much data do you log? Major stations? Timepoints? Every station? I tried to log every station and MetroCard swipe, but it was too cumbersome looking at my watch and the train door.

Here is a trip I took last Black Friday, members of Rider Diaries would be familiar with this plan, as it was posted there.

Start-8 Av. (N)

  1. (N) to 34 St.
  2. (2) to Chambers St.
  3. (1) to South Ferry
  4. (1) to Chambers St.
  5. (2) to Park Place
  6. (C) to Franklin Av.
  7. (S) to Prospect Pk.
  8. (;) to Sheepshead Bay
  9. (Q) to Coney Island.

Boarded (N) ~13:30

Got off (Q) ~17:00

As you can see, this wouldn't be possible without busing or severe slowdowns on a weekend schedule OR with the common G.O. set below.

I originally planned 2 halves-

Brighton part on Black Friday

South Ferry part right before South Ferry's expected closing date (12/21) Included the 2 museums, which will now have to wait until July.

The common G.O. set I make alternatives for must account for these G.O.s: (not everything happens at once, but be on the safe side.)

  • No (C) service, (A) runs local
  • (2)(3) runs local
  • The (2) uptown shuttle busing and the aftereffects on (3)(4)(5)
  • No (1) service south of 14 St. and the associated express run
  • No (G) north of Court Sq.
  • (A) runs to Rockaway Pk.
  • (Q) station rehab
  • The (D) on the (A) and its associated effects on (A)(B)(C)(E)
  • No (A) north of 168 St.
  • (L) disruptions of any kind
  • (D) on (N) and vice versa
  • Elevator problems on elevator-only stations. (added after the Herald Sq. elevator wouldn't work)

I go over every aspect of the trip many times before making a logsheet!

I went to check if passengers knew how to handle shuttle buses.

Some people aren`t familar shuttle buses are free, so often they sometimes paid on free shuttle bus.

I got on third car of Queensboro Plaza-bound (7) R62A Bombadier #1793, cross to 2nd, #1792, then front car #1791 which already departed Junction Blvd at 11:42. Great announcement by conductor.

Then after I took them to gift shop to buy Museum Guidebook in Japanese, I escorted them to 86th St/5th Av, where 100th St New Flyer Artic departed 13:23, arrive Broadway at 13:30.

Next we got on front car of Brooklyn College-Flatbush Av-bound (2) R142 Bombadier #Forgot # departed 13:33, arrive 14th St at 13:51.

We exit and I spotted closed passegeway, then we walk to 64 Perry St. I took their pictures, then took them to famous bakery, but it was crowded, and they offer me cupcake for appreciation for guiding them, so they bought me Chocolate Cupcake and had snack in open space there.

After that, we made to Michael J. Quill New Flyer Artic #5568 M14A departed 8th Av/Bleecker St at 14:50, arrive 14th St/Broadway-4th Av at 15:02 because they wanted to go to Bloomingdale's and want to be close by Broadway Musical.

We got on rear car of Forest Hills-bound (R) Pullman #5796 departed 15:05, arrive Lex Av/59th St at 15:24.

As train was travelling along express track, excellent c/o said, "Ladies & Gentlemen! Due to track work, all Coney Island-bound (D) trains are running on (N) line from 36th St to Coney Island. For service over the (D) line between 36th St and 62nd St, stay on this train to New Utrecht Av and transfer to Manhattan-bound (D) trains making all (D) stops. For service between 62nd St & Coney Island, stay on this train to Coney Island-Stillwell Av, and transfer to Manhattan-bound (D) train.

After that (D) went over on Sea Beach (N) line, spotted Museum Train, but little too far to take pictures.

Next I darted to (F) platform to catch (G) because other (G) was pulling in.

I got on front car of Long Island City-Court Sq-bound (G) via (F) Pullman #5708 departed 16:44.

"For (F) train service to Manhattan or Euclid Av, stay on this train to Hoyt-Schermerhon.

At Smith-9th, Carroll, Begen Sts, he repeated.

As it was approaching Hoyt-Schermern, transfer to (F) to Euclid Av across the platform, and (F) to Manhattan on opposite platform, then (A) train.

Arrive there at 17:17.

While I was waiting for (F), I was lucky that Euclid Av-bound (F) via (C) Pullman R46 #5912 came first and departed 17:23, arrive Euclid Av at 17:43.

For continue service to Manhattan, you must take shuttle train and M14 bus in Manhattan for continues trip. This train will be going back to Rockaway Parkway.

Your logs are really detailed, nice job.

The people (Japanese tourists?) you helped; was it just a random encounter? for you if it was!

Sotokoto Magazine is suppose to be famous Volunteer Magazine, but some Japanese folks doesn't know about it.

Also Japanese folks are shy.

You should have taken the Q35 at rockaway park to Flatbush on the (2)(5) lines instead of having to take an(A) al the way back into Manhattan.

Even on weekekend, Q35 is every 30 minutes.

Also my goal was trying to test all Shuttle Buses in one day and make sure if conductors are making announcement or not.
