Anyone got any advice for taking photos of moving trains in the subway with a P&S camera?

That's good - at least you have some control over it. Another tip is do not decrease the aperture (in other words don't make the f-number higher). You're going to need all the light you can get. Also if you camera can zoom, keep in mind that by zooming in it will be forced to lower its aperture, meaning less light will go into your camera.

Do not use any of the semi auto modes (A, S, P, except for maybe shutter priority). Manual makes most sense. A high shutter speed is needed, but don't go to high. With a P&S, anywhere above 1/50th of a second is too dark. Their is not much room for adjustment because below 1/30th there will be blur.
