  1. Those extra few minutes of padding is most likely to accommodate for merge delays, which happens extremely often on the . You should see the late night runtimes, schedule gives almost 20 minutes between Franklin and Flatbush Late Night on the and almost 15 minutes of padding from 125 to 149 GC on the .
  2. Of course they would brag about OTP being at an all time high; they padded the living hell out of all the schedules, which allows extra runtime/leeway for delays and congestion. In reality, service is still spotty.
  3. TBH I would take it with a grain of salt. I HIGHLY Doubt it. With all the R179's problems, and the R211's due next year, we're still technically on a shortage. They're trying to hold onto to the 32's and 42's as long as possible.
  4. This could all be solved by doing one thing. Just run the Express on an extended headway from Franklin to Atlantic and Terminate there and relay to come back south. Have the / run local on Eastern Parkway Local, then up Lex. The would also be Local, but would have to switch after Atlantic ofc, but at least you minimize backing up the Express on EP.
  5. The MTA should REALLY Consider sending those Times Square trains to 34th Street. My got stuck behind one at Times Square for 20 something minutes because someone refused to detrain. RCC does nothing as usual. Its really starting to become an issue, especially now with the 3 being cut back an hour earlier.
  6. The people up at RCC really dropped the ball yesterday during that 12-9 at Brook Ave Last night. Service was crippled on the 1,2,4,5 and 6 yesterday cause of the power off situation. After everything cleared up, people on the 2 were basically stranded for over 2 hours in The Bronx and Manhattan. No trains got turned, and nothing got rerouted to remediate it leaving these nasty gaps. See attached Stringline.
  7. When they removed power on the 6 line, the power limits stretch as far south s 125th, and affected the switch at 149th Street Grand Concourse as well; affecting the 2 and 5 as well as the 4. Technically if the 5 wasn't running, the 2 would've ran fine. Not to mention the 5 was overhanging the switch south of 149 as well
  8. AFAIK, the clearance problem in Montague still remains. Most of those garbage trains that traverse broadway don't use R32's, they use R127/134's most of the time. If it happens to use a 32, it will most likely go via the Bridge.
  9. One thing that I've started to notice recently with the is that once it gets south of Church Ave, it leaves a pretty nasty gap behind it, and is always hot at West 8th Street so it sits there for about 5-10 minutes. Did NYCT thoroughly plan the scheduling out for this?
  10. Must be a slow news day. They act like every subway car on property hasn't had issues of its own and took years to iron out the issues. I still have faith that they'll turn out like the 142s and be one of the most reliable cars we have.
  11. The equipment is still TBD. If I were to guess though, it will probably be the BU's, Standards, Triplex, and the TOMM. It would be cool if they could bring out the TOMC on the Brighton Trip like they did years ago.
  12. From what I've heard when redoing the Montague Tube after sandy, they did something with the roof of the tunnel that apparently made the R32's and R42's as well as Museum Trains too tall to enter the tubes, hence why they've been "banned". Not sure of the restriction is uplifted though, probably not.
  13. Definitely digging that R142A Manual, lol
  14. The NTT's don't have handbrakes, only the SMEE's do. They do however have parking brakes, which (IIRC) is only present when the train is in emergency.
  15. 14th is a good place to do it, however you can't terminate there because thats where the last few 's of the night are stored. 34th is definitely the best option, plus its out of the way of the as well. Eliminates the whole fumigating fiasco at Times Square.
  16. I was hoping someone got audio from the meltdown. Just goes to show how crap TA's Radio Comms are. In Dyre situations like this, communication is key. Kudos to the people at RCC though, must've been running around like headless chickens up there lol
  17. At least with the 2 being local (hopefully) the whole Times Square fumigation fiasco is gone. Its really annoying having to sit behind a 3 for 10 minutes because someone refuses to detrain. Realistically they should have those 3's drop out at 34th Street and just double end the move into the spur if possible.
  18. Damn, must've had a really good train then, most of the 62's Ive had were barely touching 45. Also, 49 between 34th and 14th is unheard of, pretty impressive, most of the 142's don't even get that high on that segment.
  19. R179 EMI Testing is Cancelled until Further Notice.
  20. Today, on the 6 the express run from hunts point to parkchester, I had up to 53 mph, no joke, it was insane whoever said the NTT's or the R142's is difficult to get to 55 mph is wrong, the R142A hit 53 no problem, if it can hit up to 50+ mph going past just 4 stops, just imagine what it could do in the 60 street tube
  21. I just found this on the bombardier website and I think this is pretty absurd for a subway car, look at the technical data, http://www.bombardier.com/en/transportation/products-services/rail-vehicles/metros/new-york-city--usa?docID=0901260d8000f8c8#
  22. Got on an R142A 6 express train from hunts point avenue to parckchester and using a speedometer app on my phone, I got up 49 mph!!! Insane!!! And on the way back, taking the local train, I clocked the local at 38 mph between st Lawrence and Morrison sound view, the 6 train really hauls ass into longwood, I'd feel about 40 mph into longwood, I love the 6!!!
  23. They still are they hit in the high 40's and possibly 50, I've clocked about 49 and 50 for a split second, from parckchester to hunts point.
