  1. Not a full shutdown, just plan IV. Equipment back onto the underground express tracks, all service runs local. But yeah, having to take a local train might deter people from going to the polls....... WHAT????? Have you been in that station in the last 6 months? The gap filler motors deteriorated (and were leaking oil) to the point where they had to be completely removed and the whole station is covered in a layer of dust. It hasn't been cleaned since it closed. There is no upkeep going on there at all......and it is being used as a storage room for the signals dept, so even the platform isn't safe to walk on.
  2. Cortlandt St has been drained. The 1 to Rector is ready to go, just waiting for some power restoration.
  3. If you try to ride my around the loop, I WILL have you forcibly removed, arrested and executed.
  4. Yes, except we'd tell everybody to GET THE F OUT at Rector St, since the South Ferry loop is not classified as revenue track. 's will not even be doing that until a. the power is back b. Cortlandt St is pumped c. the loop is pumped.
  5. R62s are currently being relocated back to Lenox Yard. TwoTimer, thanks for crushing the dreams of all the armchair superintendents who wouldn't shut up about the to New Lots.
  6. The doesn't go to the 's Boro Hall platform......
  7. OMG!!!!! R62's on the 4!!!!! MAYBE THIS MEANS THE 4 WILL GET CORONA'S EQUIPMENT!?!??!?!?!?!?!?
  8. Last night we had the power turned off on tk 1 & 4 in the area of 116 for a couple hours. Alternate uptown 6's were running express from 42 to 125, and the other 6's were running local to 86 and then turning back south. Alternate downtown 6's out of Pelham were being turned at 138/3, with the others running express 125-42. In other words, there was no local service between 86 and 125. And of course, the 5's were running via 7 Av!
  9. Yesterday testing began on the converted R142A's along the middle track on the Dyre line. Be on a look out for them there for the next couple of weeks!
  10. That's exactly what my class got. Did B-Div fill up almost immediately again? And I take offense to that anti-Bronx comment. I scored a straight, unassisted 100 on my C/R exam, not to mention going to college, but *I* live in the Bronx (about a block from NYC's best high school and 3 colleges, I might add), so you automatically assume that I'm some stupid bumpkin? True, if you live in the Bronx then you definitely want to be A-Div for school car and XX, but now that I can pick a job there, I'm going to B-Div next pick (guess where....).
  11. Cortlandt St is supposed to open Fall 2013, along with the new tower. Preparations to re-open the station will take place next summer.
  12. The overuse of bullets is a strain on the eyes. It isn't a personal insult against you (I call out other forum members who do the same thing), although taking the time to edit my post to ADD MORE bullets to it seems like an insult directed at me. Anyway, I'm still waiting for the 11/3-11/4 GO to get posted, so that I find out just WHY the 2 will be running to Dyre for the next 8 weekends. They have the GO's up for next week, but not next weekend......Tk M between 3 Av-180 is coming out next week, so don't wait around for any 5 expresses......
  13. When every other word is a subway bullet, I won't read it, especially not right after working 8 hours and being up for 16. What's so hard about writing 2, 3 and 4? Just my opinion......
  14. Wow, that's way too many bullets for my fragile mind to decipher, so I'm gonna ignore the above post and give the answer. If the 4 turns at Atlantic, then riders who are going to Franklin and Utica from the east side are going to have to transfer to the 2 or 3, and THEN transfer to a bus. Sending the 4 to Franklin gives them a direct transfer to the buses. Sending the 3 to South Ferry is not a big deal, because riders going to Brooklyn can take the 2 on the SAME platform instead. I doubt there are many riders going from 148/145 to south of Franklin. In other words, the 4 to Flat and the 3 to South Ferry inconviences passengers a lot less than the 4 to Atlantic and the 3 to Flat would.
  15. Whatever the threat is, it's STILL going on. Started around 2130. RCC commanded us to turn off our radios in the area of Times Square, so likely a bomb. "customers who need to go to Grand Central, take the uptown NQR to Lex-59 for the downtown 46 which will take you to Grand Central."
  16. From what I hear, the first T/O class will begin orientation tomorrow. Congrats and good luck!
  17. This weekend the will be running between Dyre Ave and E180 only. According to the GO, it's so that Tk 1A between 149 and 138 can be removed for M/W. Gee......like they didn't have the last TWO MONTHS of WEEKENDS to perform work on that track? Note that there will not be any supplemental service between 149 upper and Bowling Green, even though there aren't any other GO's preventing them from doing so.........The weekend is the new weekend !
  18. I would think the title of the position you are applying for.....YES you have to bring in your high school diploma, and anything else proving that you meet the pre-requisites for the title. You should have a week or so to get the booklet filled out. Don't procrastinate, because it may take a while to gather all of the info you need. That $92 fee is for fingerprinting, which gets reviewed by the FBI. It's pretty much the only thing that you'll ever have to pay for out of pocket here - all equipment, books and uniforms are provided. Yes, they can and will send you ANYWHERE in your division even if it is on the other end of the city. While the crew office does make some effort to keep you close to home, the needs of the system take priority. You do not get paid for travel time to/from work, however, you will get paid deadhead time if you finish at a different terminal from where you started (including if you're on the board and pick up a job somewhere else).
  19. It was Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Ave-74 St-Broadway-LGA Airport All I can say is I am SO GLAD I decided to take the Q50 home from work tonight, instead of the . I heard all that over sixwire as I was signing out, and headed right upstairs.
  20. For me it was about a week. If you don't pass the drug test, they won't even call you, they throw your application in the shredder.
  21. How did they know you had sleep apnea? You didn't just TELL them that did you??? Everyone - rule #1 of the medical appointment, don't reveal ANYTHING to the quacks!!!!! Sleeping is not allowed anywhere on TA property. This includes if you are stranded at a terminal due to weather emergencies. Sleeping at 180 Livingston is NOT a good way to start off on the right foot. Yes you will learn ALL of the equipment in your div (the only exception is that B-Div T/O's don't learn CBTC until they are off probation and have a job that operates with it, which right now is just the L). You will do plenty of operating in the yard and a couple times a week will take a train on the road, and all students take turns for a couple of stops.
  22. Leaving Rock Park in the AMs: H-0622 A-0638 H-0648 A-0659 H-0711 A-0719 H-0727 A-0739 H-0748 A-0759 Leaving Broad Channel in the AMs: H-0645 H-0714 H-0736 Going reverse-peak during the time the showcase A's are running you have a 29 minute gap, and then a 22 minute gap. If it weren't for the A's, there would be huge gaps going peak direction as well. PM's doesn't get affected as badly because there are two shuttle sets running.
