  1. Does anyone know what list number they are up to so far for this exam? Is it in the 1000's yet?
  2. If you pass they will either call or email a date for you to come back in for the medical. I believe anywhere from 2-90 days. If you failed the urine, I'm not too sure. I read somewhere on this forum that if you test positive for drugs they send info on drug treatment programs. After you complete the program you can take the urine test again.
  3. I might be wrong, but I think he means that if we obtained our CDL license after the exam, we have to update DCAS, or send proof? Again, I'm sorry if I'm way wrong...
  4. I think you should be okay kev2112. I think over 35 bmi they will put you on medical hold. I think you should be okay with the prescription for bp, but someone more knowledgeable should answer that one. I would bring a note from the doctor just in case you're still testing high bp. But, if you're testing normal bp with the meds, they won't place you on hold.
  5. It is weird how they skip around. It can be discouraging at times.
  6. Yep, you definitely need that disposition. You need that at the pre-employment or they will send you to get it. That will make the process longer, so get it beforehand. College transcripts I don't think are necessary. I believe a high school diploma is required.
  7. Thanks for that. I basically said the same thing to my co-worker. I knew you couldn't become a B/O from a T/O when you felt like it! You have to apply and take the exam like everyone else. Maybe during his time at MTA (29 years) they did that. He also told me about operators driving drunk and having accidents. They were sent home and came back the next day in service like nothing happened! So the times definitely changed.
  8. I believe it takes anywhere from 3-90 days. There are a lot of people that took the urine test one than once for this exam. They never called me back for the medical in June after I did the urine, but I received another pre-employment letter. So, if I go I have to take another urine. Train operator holds a lot of weight being it is also used as a promotional title, don't be surprised if you have to do a few urines and another pre-employment!
  9. Wow they are moving fast now! They called me in for 11/13 processing, but I don't think I'm going. List #9**
  10. You don't have to train all over again do you? What is the process for someone already a B/O? Do you have a choice of OA depots?
  11. Hey guys, I have a question about this exam and switching titles. I told a co-worker that retired from MTA a few years ago that I received a pre-employment letter for T/O but I'm declining it. He said that is a stupid move and I should start the process because if you find being a T/O too much you can downgrade to B/O. I heard of downgrading to Cleaner title, but not a B/O. Maybe that was true when he was at MTA, but I don't think that is true today. He said because it is a promotional title you can transfer without being on the B/O list. Have any of you heard of such a thing? I told him you can only transfer if you are on the list and called for that title. He said no, and we argued for hours. If anyone is knowledgeable about this, please clarify. Honestly, I think I'm right!
  12. Three pre-employment sessions? What the hell are they doing? That is so crazy, are they trying to discourage and annoy people on purpose?
  13. Actually 2nice, you're in a damn good position. I wish I was you right now! If you're expected to be in the June class for FDNY you can start the process for MTA. If you are hired by MTA, I think they give you a fixed set of hours for training. See if you can get training hours so you can do additional processing for the FDNY if you need to. MTA training is about 8-9 months so you're good until FDNY actually hires you. If you do have to start the June class, then you will know by then if you want to stick with MTA or move on to FDNY. You'll be making damn good money until a final decision has to be made! Hope that helps you, good luck.
  14. That letter is crazy. The only thing I can think of is that DCAS is still involved with the certification process, so they can give us the 1-n-3 rule. I believe MTA is considered state not city, so we shouldn't even get those stupid letters. Why don't they just do the right thing and combine MTA Bus, OA and TA and have transit handle the certification process? But, as for now, they usually issue those letters when MTA doesn't like something in your background.
  15. I can just forget about this job then. All you guys are young. By the time they call me I will be a senior citizen!!!
  16. I don't think they called anyone yet. Aren't they still working on exam #4600? I think they are still calling from that list.
  17. Wow Chris, are you sure it's that high? That sounds more like TO!
  18. Damn FLeXxX, you shouldn't have paid for the ticket so quickly. You don't know when Transit will call, and you could of plead "Not Guilty" , and got a lawyer to try to help you with the ticket. The lawyer could have won your case with no points before MTA called you. Because you paid already you have to wait three years for those 6pts to come off because Transit only takes up to 4pts.
  19. I don't think the 4 pts are a problem, but the open tickets are. When they call you for pre-employment you can't have any open tickets. If they are tickets that don't involve more points added on your record. I think you are okay paying them when Transit calls you. If they add more points, it could mess things up depending on when they start calling people and your list#. If they take a few years to call us in, you could get a lawyer to help straighten them out. Also, when does the 4 pts drop off? Its all down to what kind of tickets and when they start hiring.
  20. True, it doesn't come up on the website. But even more interesting is that some info does come up when you call DCAS! (212) 669-1357 press #2 enter SS# and enter the exam# then press 1 for more info. The recording says basically what the email said.
  21. Young has the best advice, Natalie. Since you are taking the BOSS in Jan, try to accumulate at least 2-3 weeks vacation time. You actually don't start training until you receive your Pre-employment letter and pass the DMV check, urine test, and medical exam (not on the same day) After ID and fingerprints then they will schedule you for orientation day. The day after orientation is training. You will need your vacation to be planned from orientation then ten days after just in case you don't qualify after the 7th and 9th day. Whenever you qualify and start your line training at your selected depot you could give your job notice. If you could take a whole month of vacation that's better because you still have to pass line training and graduate. It's up to you how to plan it, but at least have two weeks open.
