  1. Lucky you. In fact, I've seen the R-143s as trains more often. Sounds like a planar shift. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  2. You're mad. Even by Tarrytown standards. You'll BECOME the pavement. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  3. Truth be told: The MTA is going to wait until - Sick passenger delays shoot up dramatically Lawsuits come their way Somebody dies Ignoring this is no longer profitable. As for me, I simply avoid IRT systems as much as possible. That's where most R62A's are concentrated. Visit my thread to find alternatives to travel using BMT or IND systems. Name your destination and I'll chart a course. Faster, less walking or do you have an unlimited? Commutes belong to the commuter and so should your time. 4. Queens seems to be the brunt of many transit mishaps. The only way Queens can get the help it needs is through aggressive pro-transit moves and the de-prioritization of ordinary cars. Car owners will hate it but the city has to look out for the majority and many New Yorkers can't afford to drive. Even those who do know there is no productive edge in city driving but stubbornly cling to their wheels. [emoji30] Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  5. Yes. New York City needs to be more bus centric. Even if and when I get my license, I won't use it down here. Transit comes first if available. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  6. Nothing new. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk Best. Feeling. Ever. Makes you feel like leftover lasagna. Away from the frying pan and into the freezer with you! Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  7. Yup. Seems they're cycling some trains from the rail yard just below Broadway Junction. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  8. And that's the third point I was missing. Editing my last comment now. Alright I can't. So dedicated lanes, surface exposure and Federal funding. So the MTA essentially needs the S79 like a poster child for how cash strapped it is. Now I understand but now it sounds even more pathetic for reasons we know too well. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk I agree. I took two tangents and lauded on one. Transit is confusing down here. No one makes it more incomprehensible than NYC transit. While transit is viewed as a blessing in the suburbs, it's damnation down here. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk That's surprising but good to know. I'm going to go to the fare card thread I created and talk about London's recent plan to open source Oyster. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  9. Like dedicated lanes and additional waiting space? Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  10. Then it might as well be a LTD. Even before the Q44 became SBS its stop manifest only had three or four more stops. Select Bus Service is distinguished by separate pay pads. Otherwise it's just a LTD route with special treatment. [emoji362] We should eventually invest in contactless dongles would be something the MTA should work on as it reads a tag from a working MetroCard and deducts fare automatically when a button on the dongle is pushed. The door would have a wrap around light that mimics the fare box's light scheme. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  11. There should be separate pay pads. SBS isn't the issue. It's the "okay if half done" nature of MTA projects. For all the thinking done behind the scenes they're still not customer centric. And if I extend sympathy, no borough is note shambled than Queens. Now that's where the complaints really flare up. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  12. I know that. I'm no longer holding on to that. I'm on a data entry mindset not a get even one. Something hiccupped. If I dragged on about things too long I'd get gray hairs. There IS a reason I joined this forum. I used to hate getting checked but for personal & professional growth it is necessary. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  13. I wasn't trying to tie in the S79. I only ment the bit about the shuttle loop. When service is rerouted via the shuttles connect Court Square with Queens Plaza & 21st Street. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk The quotes are all mashed up and adulterated, apart from user error. I don't blame you, the system is misconstruing who is who.
  14. You adulterated the quote. That isn't what I posted. Those are two trains of thought on different threads. Maybe my feed needs to be reordered so that I reply sequentially. I apologize for any confusion this may cause. When quoting, don't forget the gesture. It won't appear as my quote if it's adulterated. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  15. That was a reference error. I'll correct it shortly. My concern was peak shopping hours. Artics full time would be a wasted effort. It's overkill. The route is efficient and gets shoppers and commuters alike through Hylan at breakneck efficiency. Without side payment mechs it's designation is improper...and it's sometimes crowded because of dead weight (when pax pay $0 in fare without proper exemption decals). I'm not saying ops shouldn't be lenient, but buses shouldn't be crowded with non paying pax. This has backfired in the past. Wasn't long ago that an op was slugged on Nostrand & Ave D. I do business six blocks away... Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  16. You've confirmed my second fear - if the fare keeps going up, the MTA will lose business to local competitors. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  17. I was talking about the shuttle loop between Queens Plaza & Ely Ave - 23rd Street... Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  18. I know. But that's an edge meant for poorer and disenfranchised people, not car owning snobs. This is a city that needs to focus on the masses not the asses. Influences like Billionaires Row are getting out of hand. Let it go so far and they'll vote to secede from Manhattan before Staten Island does. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  19. I know. Just throwing my thoughts here. It seems there's a lot of headway in this thread. I'll read through it first. ????Eric Shields | Mass Transit Honchkrow???? Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk And when the is rerouted via the that proposal very much lives. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  20. And for peak or busy hours, put articulated buses for S74/84, and S59 buses. I was actually in the area yesterday night and it was crowded on the S79... Shouldn't even be SBS. Half baked effort at including Richmond. I totally empathize with them. They've been left out too much. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk I signed up for alerts on workshops there and I haven't been contacted. In fact I haven't been contacted for any workshops I submitted my email to. Riders Alliance also hasn't been keeping me in the loop. With the into I've gathered that's their loss. I always seemed out of place around them because of my scope. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  21. Well, most of the is elevated, making POIs easy to locate. However, much of the landscape, especially in the East New York section, are shuttered businesses due to a lack of foot traffic, the sticking point of my post. On weekends, especially the next 25, the is your link to Fulton St as the are available at Essex St during weekends. Suggested connectors helpful in connecting POI include the B12, B57, and the B38. That trio of buses merges with or follows near the and have endpoints near popular or well known landmarks. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  22. No. Good luck to those who think they should preserve those spaces. I'm getting really sick of the entitlement egos of car owners. They can suck it up or move up north. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  23. You're welcome. Good talking points. Those trains are rather old, and are the closest thing to the bad times of 70s past. They are also the most derelict ridden. Do the locked staircases on the irritate you sometimes? I did an article on it. Read it here: https://plus.google.com/+EricShields-TransitHonchkrow/posts/b5qhDqBoPEP ????Eric Shields | Mass Transit Honchkrow???? Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  24. By being observant. Delays within the city line are better avoided if commuters just listened & looked. Canal St was a nightmare this weekend... And some of the users on this forum are either tenured MTA employees or junkies with good leads. I myself can't always preempt things but then again my travel scope is far larger. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  25. Agreed. Queens roads are a mess because they give preference to sitting cars instead of moving transportation. This is why they will always be buried under 15+ inches of snow. DOTS can't shovel if cars are in the way... Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
