  1. The Myrtle Avenue viaduct. What a frickin mess.

  2. thanks for clarifying that. Another question - taking note of the signage at DeKalb Avenue, did 2nd Avenue play a role in allowing service on the West End center track?
  3. Oh. I feel so dumb... XD There are center tracks at some of the stations that are currently disused. I believe you could snake the through that section. Out of curiosity, when the operated via Queens Boulevard, what was the doing other than 6th Avenue?
  4. Instead of suspending the , route it through the Crosstown Express Portion, terminating at the Hoyt-Schermerhorn Street station by re-utilizing the "ghost" platform. Lexington Avenue service should be broken into two sections: the between Woodlawn and 125th Street [terminal on Uptown side], and between 42nd Street & Utica Avenue. the between Dyre Av & 125th Street [terminal and rerun on Downtown side]. the between Pelham Bay & 125th Street [terminal on uptown side]. The would have to connect passengers between Times Square and Queensboro Plaza with the train broken between Times Sq & Stilwell Avenue, and the 31st Street shuttle. the can terminate at Queens Plaza and customers who need Manhattan should Xfer at 74th Street to use the for the above scenario (since Queensboro Plaza and Queens Plaza are disjointed). BTW, what is SAS? I think I missed a detail that might ground this roleplay.
  5. That kinda sounds like the past month's worth of reroutings. What a way to start off. :-)
  6. The expensive tag of the 2nd Avenue Subway (among other projects). Has the MTA's inflation gone too far?

  7. I quoted the wrong text. Was referencing the hyperlinked article.
  8. something happened earlier this week that caused service to truncate to Myrtle - Wyckoff Av's. Not sure if it's related. When I was on the earlier this September, I noticed half done paint jobs on those flyover track hulls. It could be that they're still making finishing touches. Not a half baked idea though. The can continue to serve Bushwick and now East NY as the viaduct gets torn down. I don't think they plan to refurbish the structure. Likely why they're asking some tenants to move as it may get messy. I do recall that they're working on the viaduct as a precursor in preparing for the shutdown. Spare stock will bring the and even the to 10-car sets. they could return the to its Bay Parkway terminus. Those express tracks on the West End are currently disused. They could hitch the at Queens Plaza and bring the back to Queens Boulevard. And once the shutdown is underway the extra cars can supplement and service. The would be able to go full express btwn Jay Street & Kings Hwy while the accomodates local riders. This is assuming work on Culver Line station renewals is complete. Some provide PT service to Kings Hwy so why not pass that to the ?
  9. It would never happen even if halfheartedly approached. At the Westchester Hearing someone suggested the MTA take on Liberty Lines and NICE. Was I right to cringe? Would you (given existing irresponsibilities the MTA is charged with? P.S. how do you parse text to show the MTA logo? i'm curious That would be easier to achieve using the crosstown line, which does have a dormant express track. Your prior suggestion is simply another target for hurricane weather or spending.
  10. I second that request. I actually prefer that version because it depicts service better with minimal text bunching. The current version tries too hard to honor geographic contours despite saying he opposite on the map's fins print.
  11. The conspiracy theories that are really under way are worse than we can imagine. This seems rather tame compared to what I've fathomed.
  12. there's a bit of dark humor in your remark - I agree ;-)
  13. T That's good to know. Does CT assume repairs or does the MTA outpost them? Their buses are the best in the land though. You can't beat $1.50 a ride. So the Zone numbering is to thwart needless intermediary tickets.
  14. The TWU100 contract talks. I hope that they take a populist approach instead of shuttign everything down. They might find widespread support.

      Joel Up Front

Is this why I've been hearing all these TWU ads on the radio this past month?

  15. Thanks for that. I figured I messed up somewhere. Placing CT at any zone higher than 10 pushes costs to them. I feel that if they pay more they have the right to say more. But the MTA is tone deaf to everyone. I also feel that MNR fare hikes should be apportioned by zone because it's not just those in NYC who are poor. Poverty is radial outward from the NYC area. The stereotype that Westchester is deep pocketed is very false. I also feel CT should be given less steep hikes. Pricing out riders who depend on public transit can backfire badly... I don't ride LIRR much so I can't gauge how a hike affects riders there. The last line I rode was the BY to Freeport and back.
  16. GCT to Harlem is Zone 1 Bronx is Zone 2 Westchester is Zones 3-6 Putnam is Zone 7 Dutchess is Zones 8 thru 11 Columbia is Zone 12 and I believe Connecticut is Zone 13 and up Between Zones usually btwn $3 and $4. For example, my round trip ticket from 233rd St <> White Plains is $7.50 [iNT]. When you board outside of Zone 1 your ticket drops in cost by as much as $7.
  17. I forgot about the CDL restrictions. Whoops Sent from my SM-P600 using Tapatalk
  18. You have a point. In an effort to renew interest, is it feasible to have it start at City Hall as a LTD variant (weekdays & eve's). While it may be underutilized now I'm sure some riders will sink their swipes into anything viable. It's fast. Given the existing nature of buses, that's a commendable remark. Sent from my SM-P600 using Tapatalk That's why I suggested it initially. The has a history with the neighborhood that has been unpleasant, and for some that's their ONLY option. In addition to the 2019 shutdown, I brought this forward because top brass has stated that they won't do a study for the until the 2nd Avenue Subway opens. If I were a resident on the 4th Avenue corridor, I'd say that's not fair. Sent from my SM-P600 using Tapatalk Mine too. [emoji23] Sent from my SM-P600 using Tapatalk
  19. which was in Brooklyn yesterday. Had no idea that section of Brooklyn was called "Gravesend" (86th St & West 8th). But I did know that the portion of Jay Street was called Lawrence St and that Barclays Center once referred to the 4th Avenue platform in its name. In fact, it's like a snapshot. The strip map is nostalgic in of itself. Sent from my SM-P600 using Tapatalk Hey guys. Do you think of the B37 ever getting SBS? That section of Kings is developing as fast as LIC and I think that once the storefronts start taking customers it would be a good idea. In addition, it would provide one block access to the 4th Avenue Line. I brought it up because I happen to be going to that strech of town tomorrow. I see a lot of missed opportunities there. 20. You're right. Man do I feel dense. I thought too hard. I declined the easy way out of courtesy to the seasoned minds already here.
  21. If it affects the on Lenox Avenue- The could be pushed back to Chambers St to provide Brooklyn bound service. The should be extended to Flatbush Av but curtailed at East 180th Street. A second shuttle should run between East 180th Street & Dyre Avenue, repairs permitting, terminating/returning on Track M. For Lenox Avenue nearby buses could do extra legwork or shuttle buses could be deployed. A nonstop shuttle between 149th Street - Concourse & 96th Street should also be made available, making stops at 148th Street & 7th Avenue before proceeding south on Broadway. ???? 22. Could you reroute one of them via the thru Queens Plaza on the 59th Street line to ease that potential crowding? ???? Eric Shields | #MassTransitHonchkrow ???? 23. If I remember correctly, wasn't that the way it was before the Q70 LTD? ???? Eric Shields | #MassTransitHonchkrow ???? THE Hudson Valley's essential Fare-blazer ????
  24. Would it be sensible to have the Q70 stop at the marine terminal? I never understood why the Q47 is needed for that. I noticed on older maps that the Q33 played a role similar to the Q7O. Speaking of old maps, does anyone notice the kiosk maps portray the time the Montague Tunnel was closed? ???? Eric Shields | #MassTransitHonchkrow ???? THE Hudson Valley's essential Fare-blazer ???? Ooh it can? That's good to know. [emoji4] ???? Eric Shields | #MassTransitHonchkrow ???? THE Hudson Valley's essential Fare-blazer ????
  25. You mean between local and express or express to express? The latter isn't possible as Transfers aren't issued between those. Transfers from local buses cost $3.75 if I remember. If you have a paper Xfer it'll go in but it'll also say add coins either 15 quarters or three buffalo coins & 3 quarters). ???? Eric Shields | #MassTransitHonchkrow ????
