  1. Deferring to that hideous duo isn't a good answer. When repairs go on under that stretch of road it's like watching paint dry. It's painfully slow because the MTA can't just shut down service for any section without mass panic or repercussions, even if it is a planned change. Because of this, Queens Boulevard still has numerous issues with Sandy's grime all over it. I'm just glad the drainage was OK during that water main break last year. ???? 2. Women, cautious? One too many times have I seen women leave their pit cell during uneasy times. Not long ago a female conductor was slugged as the pulled into Essex Street one Thursday afternoon. ???? Eric Shields | #MassTransitHonchkrow ???? THE Hudson Valley's essential Fare-blazer ????
  3. Excellent point. The is making a comeback by Nov 7. Let's not forget that only a third of it will be open. 92 years. 3 Yankee Stadiums 2 City Halls 2 Penn Stations 6 Record Setting Blizzards 3 Major Blackouts 16 Presidents 8 Fiscal Crises, national & stateside. MTA. Procrastination on a whole new level. ???? Eric Shields | #MassTransitHonchkrow ???? THE Hudson Valley's essential Fare-blazer ???? Half Baked is the MTA way ???? 4. Because people are idiots. [emoji39] Some users on this forum either give commuters too much credit or kudos, or they're stuck with the smarter crowd. I want to meet that crowd. ???? Eric Shields | #MassTransitHonchkrow ???? THE Hudson Valley's essential Fare-blazer ???? That's great. You agree. ???? Eric Shields | #MassTransitHonchkrow ???? 5. Good point. That would get expensive. If you could splice my EasyPay card to multiple plastics, that would be cool. Every MetroCard ever issued has a unique ID, a base type & a physical expiration date. I went over types in an earlier post. For example, PATH turnstiles only take type 22. ???? Eric Shields | #MassTransitHonchkrow ???? THE Hudson Valley's essential Fare-blazer ???? I'm interested in hearing about that too. Those cars still have some gusto left. A refurbishment would do them good. When the was bisected three weeks ago, a conductor I talked with lamented the limited appeal of the rollers. "Wish we could be gone with them already", says one conductor at 34th St. " nobody listens to us anyway", says another at Pacific Street. Someone posted a preview earlier. Can strip maps be retrofitted as well, maybe with OLED for a nicer aesthetic touch? ???? Eric Shields | #MassTransitHonchkrow ???? THE Hudson Valley's essential Fare-blazer ????
  6. Because trains are usually run as R160 cars, and it was unusual to see an R68 car as an . I know they are different builds, but dimension wise they have a lot in common. I often confuse the two. The comment I quoted is in tandem with my response. #TangentAlert #SupportingDetails And based on signage and past comments, the R46 cars were refurbished with technology that brings their flair into the late 70s to early 80s, about the same age as the R68 cars. ???? Eric Shields | #MassTransitHonchkrow ???? THE Hudson Valley's essential Fare-blazer ???? I'm not saying there wasn't. In September 11th, 7 out of 10 trains I glanced were R160 cars. You're probably right. Everyone's vantage point seems to veer off but of course I believe you. Not like I can make shadow clones of myself to verify everyone's claims. I have to have faith and trust that we all have different yet legit scenarios. If I want to proofread others I'll join a newspaper column. ???? Eric Shields | #MassTransitHonchkrow ???? 7. Oh. Like the people who yammer "git off my lawn!" [emoji13] ???? Eric Shields | #MassTransitHonchkrow ???? THE Hudson Valley's essential Fare-blazer ???? Not this past weekend. In fact, I was on an using R68 cars. O.O ???? Eric Shields | #MassTransitHonchkrow ???? THE Hudson Valley's essential Fare-blazer ????
  8. My signature text. I have trailblazed through seven different transit agencies throughout the Hudson Valley, all shapes, sizes and paint jobs. Transit is really spectacular when it's done right, unlike nyct. ???? Eric Shields | #MassTransitHonchkrow ???? THE Hudson Valley's essential Fare-blazer ????
  9. Speaking of stop codes, do you find it a hindrance when you type an intersection and it either lists the wrong borough, or doesn't have the exact endpoint in the multiple choice. For example, Flatbush Ave & Church Ave B41 > SEND Then... From: 511123 < PICK A DIRECTION 1) KINGS PLZ VIA FLATBSH 2) DWNTN BKLYN CADMAN PLZ VIA FLATBSH ...and I need Bergen Beach bound service. What do you guys think of that? ???? Eric Shields | #MassTransitHonchkrow ???? THE Hudson Valley's essential Fare-blazer ????
  10. How many of you guys are checking out the NYTM exhibit in Brooklyn's this 22nd? I'm already registered and intend to learn a lot. ???? Eric Shields | #MassTransitHonchkrow ???? THE Hudson Valley's essential Fare-blazer ???? Passing the Buck should be expected... ???? Eric Shields | #MassTransitHonchkrow ???? THE Hudson Valley's essential Fare-blazer ???? That's the X17J. ???? Eric Shields | #MassTransitHonchkrow ???? THE Hudson Valley's essential Fare-blazer ???? Would that be why I've seen buses in and out of the Gun Hill Depot scrawled with neon writing? ???? Eric Shields | #MassTransitHonchkrow ???? THE Hudson Valley's essential Fare-blazer ????
  11. But Cortlandt Street is also cerebrating it's 15th Anniversary - closed... ???? Eric Shields | #MassTransitHonchkrow ???? THE Hudson Valley's essential Fare-blazer ???? Could you elaborate? What are NIMBY's? ???? Eric Shields | #MassTransitHonchkrow ???? THE Hudson Valley's essential Fare-blazer ????
  12. It might be because they've got verdant overgrowth. ???? Eric Shields | #MassTransitHonchkrow ???? THE Hudson Valley's essential Fare-blazer ????
  13. Then please address me directly instead of fuming at other members. It's true, historically I've made off kilter comments but there is a directive in each. Forums exist to gather individuals of likened interests. Don't spout hearsay that misfires at uninvolved members. I'm glad to be here. [emoji4] Sent from my SM-P600 using Tapatalk
  14. If mother nature struck now we'd be owt.The MTA probably bribed her too... BTW that spelling error was on purpose. The Flintstones would be better builders than they. ???? Eric Shields | #MassTransitHonchkrow ???? THE Hudson Valley's essential Fare-blazer ????
  15. This time service isn't being throttled. That has now been applied to the . Some service change posters remain up because they apply to multiple weeks. Not this weekend... Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  16. Signage along Southern Boulevard...SUNDAY only Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  17. Eastern Parkway is flipped this weekend so service will run as usual in Kings CTY. However service is getting cut this time. There will be no service along Southern Blvd this Sunday and no service past City Hall. I suggest taking the if you enter Fulton St (or if you read my post and use your UL ride MetroCard to skip systems. Of course, the usual 7th Avenue charm is OK too. If I remember correctly trains are rerouted by the line but this time on both flanks. Instead of WTC they terminate at 2nd Avenue - East Houston St station. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  18. My correction came too slow but I realized that. Thanks. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  19. Speaking of redirection... Just happened to a train I was on, blindsiding us all without warning. She said the next and last stop was Flatbush Ave and I tell you, riders were livid. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk

  21. Maybe my alphabet is missing it. Android, Windows and iOS all released new emoji this past summer and I'm running a Lolli build of Android from last November. It's quite possible I saw it on my desktop client which I loaded custom emoji sets. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  22. For me riding a coach for less than twelve miles feels weird... Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  23. There was flooding at Columbus Circle that same day and service was adversely affected. I couldn't take the to Bedford Park Blvd reliably so I took the and Xferred at 63rd Street to an uptown . Five more stops, yes, but ten less minutes because the (4] was instructed to skip four stops to terminate at Burnside Ave. Sweet. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  24. But I didn't see it either. I made the same mistake once too. System emoji selector is ignored by the forum by default, nobody in particular. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  25. You have to use forum emoji or they won't become visible. I realized that using my system emoji won't work. But once I post, my system emoji design (S4) overrides the forum design (iOS). Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
