  1. You know your stuff. It really is good to know I'm not as extreme a transit junky as you and the others. You guys make me seem normal. Then again, so does the whole city. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  2. Good god. [emoji27] Remember the dead brakes on that train once upon a time? I first recalled it on Google+: https://plus.google.com/+EricShields-TransitHonchkrow/posts/jgfWX2TicmP I made a custom meme I'm especially proud of. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  3. That's because the has been extended to Jamaica - 179th Street. I believe they have more access to R160s used by cars since Queens bound trains are rerouted via the , meaning they have less headway so they can spare those cars for the more. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  4. I did footage of the last train over the Manhattan Bridge before it was closed off during #Blizzard2016 if anyone wants a link. Annoying promotion is included. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  5. Fashioning it like a roller is plausible. That way, you could turn a key and transform the map immediately. That way there'd be no reason to combine them like the . You could simply stitch them to a belt. When it comes to suggestions I'm on a roll... ',:-) Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  6. I never noticed. Every train I rode was stark empty. Everyone seems to hate the so much, you think they'd be relieved. Nope. I made snow angels at Canal Street that day... [emoji12] Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  7. Not permanently. In fact, the lighting system is fixed in a way that allows for the map layer to be hot swappable. By no means did I mean permanent. Last Wednesday I was on the and it the array was akin to the old strip map even though the new one was there. So I figured they could hot swap the outer layer depending on what they wanted to use the train for. Don't tell me it's impossible. But I'm sure they're just lazy. I can relate...[emoji42] Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  8. Lately they have. Those suggestions are in line with recent service changes. Also, the may not share a fleet, but they share several stations, switches and station designs. And they're all a part of the IND division. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk That would make even more sense as have borrowed cars often. And when construction begins on those tubes the might as well have a combo map too. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk Agreed. And I have way too much, I just don't spare any down here where transit is at its most deplorable and disrespected. The constant shutting down of those lines is bound to have DYRE CONSEQUENCES... OWO Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  9. Agreed. Let's not forget that during #Blizzard2016, the train was King for forty hours and forty minutes. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  10. That's part of an ongoing service change that excludes trains in Brooklyn. More exclusions like that are coming soon. Based on what they did with the which were extended, unlike past weeks, the repair focus was solely Lower Manhattan otherwise there would be no service along Eastern Parkway. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  11. I think the combo map is a great first step. I also think they should create a , (A/C)(Fl and combo maps too since those lines are pretty much hitched at this point. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  12. I can't wait. I'm sure they'll be awesome. Buses north of 287 can go an average of 37-42 MPH and have an average route length of twenty miles, and provide access to as many as two to three malls per route. Transit and commerce go hand in hand but it's a delicate balance I believe the MTA is disregarding. There will be improvements but there will be fallout. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk Glad someone agrees. BTW it costs 15¢ to extract $1 from vending machine sales so I believe a physical card price increase would help make up for lost costs without pricing out poorer riders. Also, a rewriting and renewed promotion of the EasyPay program. The more riders on that program, the less TVMs will be needed and the easier it'll be to transition the system to contactless. As I said before, I don't expect the MTA to bargain on that. I'm a realist before an optimist because I hate disappointment. I will prepare myself for $140 monthlies... Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk Good point. :\ Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  13. When you put it that way...but you do have to admit, the fare after 2017 will be the highest ringer within a 110 mile area... $3 for local service is unheard of even if our neighbors slack elsewhere. Just because we're doing better doesn't mean we shouldn't take heed Your comment is a good breath of fresh air, but I am still I'll at ease with the MTA and fare increases. They stand to reverse ridership trends if they out price us... Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk I'm used to paying for an Xfer in TOR/PART, so I'm not shell shocked about it. But those buses go further and it's justified from my POV. And just because the farebox is the largest collection source doesn't justify increasing the fare so high that it's 27% over the national inflation rate. Charging more for MetroCard replacements, for instance. Holding wasteful litterers accountable while not punishing those who do pay the fare in full. $1 is too easy. The card needs to be more than the ride not the other way around. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  14. Terminology's from XDA, another forum I'm logged into in Tapatalk. To "kang" is to essentially refurbish a trademark design or feature and call it your own. For baseline development this usually promotes competition and innovation, but some Devs have been slanderous with what they've kanged. I feel personally that the MTA is the Northeast's worst transit example. I just took the time to comb through some fiscal diaries of other agencies. As New Yorkers we've got it bad. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  15. Absorption I feel is necessary for some Queens routes if SBS is to be a factor. I feel input from locals is better suited than mine, but you'd have less buses to park and clog traffic if they were consolidated better. Queens is less populous than Brooklyn but streets are poorly planned. If a neighborhood uses cars more than buses then buses should simply be pulled or redirected to roads where they'd be less of a hindrance. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  16. I still think CT-transit bus designs are kanged tho Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  17. Its happening again. I had no idea it was this weekend. Jinx knock on wood. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk Them, too? The one I was on at Kingston-Throop was like heaven to me, throw me in a fridge and bury the key. I'm a creature of the cold and the R32s are my favorite when it comes to big chill and best, specifically because the vents are behind your shins... Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  18. Oh yes. I believe that was the same week of my conversation about the radios at West 4th Street with an employee. The setup, if I remember: trains were operating in two sections - - between Norwood - 205th Street & Herald Square - between Pacific Street & Stilwell Avenue. trains weren't running in the 59th Street corridor and the IRT Midtown Shuttle ran overnight. . Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk Quite verbose of you. [emoji57] Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  19. Agreed. I would only support such an idea if cars were excluded completely. However, I would support the use of such a rail for non living shipments so that truck drivers aren't affected in transporting goods and services. In fact, using streetcars (off hours or in between) could be an incentive for them. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  20. Or the M42. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk And they're hot (not in a good way)... Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk The B39 right? Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  21. I try to do that on purpose and it never happens. Murphy's Law at work here... Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  22. Maybe we should make prepaid parking an option for local residents so that out of towers are profitable for violation. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  23. They're blockheads all right. Laugh? They'll [emoji90] on it. But a wakeup call for then is in the works. However, I need help shifting the ideology of our role in the Northeast. The MTA's lack of progress is a chokehold in the most important juncture in the Northeast. I feel that going after MTA policies directly will be futile as would addressing them directly. Strings need to be pulled from the back ends. ????Eric Shields | #MassTransitHonchkrow Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk Eleven? I always wondered why the platforms seemed so large. Was it always that way?[emoji53] Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk That car is beautiful. Do you think blue and gold are New York colors? I don't. CTTransit buses have been kanged. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk As the get the screens installed and tested, will GTFS feeds eventually benefit from the Real time data? The is real time, all others are static (timetable only). Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk I remembered chatting with an employee during the Delancey reroute phase during the week before last Turkey day. You guys still use separate frequency bands for the three systems? Even the radio LCD he held to me said IND. And yes, this was at West 4th during week 9 (of 40) of trains rerouted via the with the at the lower level. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk I sometimes do that. Those new displays are certainly fixating. I can't wait for them to be uploaded and compiled to the agency GTFS. Then I can see real times for those trains. When train schedules aren't available, sometimes I can still see them on the Transit app. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  24. Even I think that section of Queens is horrible. I'm all for buses but a balance must be struck or it could get worse. Intersections there are like snake pits for peds. In addition to distracted driving, loud and unbearable noise, it's a death wish for any disabled resident who crosses the streets. I almost got ran over by a tawny Audi last Friday who went for the gold instead of slowing down on yellow. [emoji19] Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
