  1. There's only one more Sunday left (01/09) (this upcoming one) and this will be the farewell trip. If you miss it, it'll be pretty hard to ride them in passenger service after this. The train will do several round trips on the . There's still an uncertainty as to IF they will run because of vandalism in Coney Island Yard, will they drill up a new train or make repairs as quickly as possible? Still up in the air. They may even have to postpone the final run or outright cancel them altogether.
  2. Was this bus scrapped? I thought it got into a head-on collision a few years back?
  3. I believe from what I’ve seen on the sheets. The space at Quill is assigned to certain runs. They have shuttles leaving Quill in the morning and arriving at Quill in the afternoon for the operators to get to their buses. These shuttles also go on to do their assigned runs too. It’s listed all on a sheet which runs park up at Quill and which afternoon runs have to catch a certain shuttle to meet their bus pullout on time.
  4. I know unofficially, employees just flash their pass and walk on the bus. But I think I read somewhere in a pdf document that MaBSTOA employees can only ride MaBSTOA buses, BC employees can only ride BC buses. Why is that the case? And if a MaBSTOA employee were to swipe onto an MTA Bus Company express bus, would the swipe go through fine? It just seems so backwards and the fact that one might have to pay get to work at the same agency is ludicrous.
  5. I’m curious what exactly the launch of the New BRT system means. I doubt we’ll see a similar SBS style BRT transit and even then those are lackluster at best without proper enforcement. Will NICE Bus actually provide that express bus into Manhattan that they proposed at a meeting (I think it was in 2017.).
  6. It just occurred to me that MTA Bus Company has no Novabus anywhere. I guess a large part of that is due to the funding? They have Prevosts which are part of the Volvo group but not a single Novabus. Why was the FTA involved with the 5300-5400 series XD60's anyways? Was it because it was the spark of a new generation (Cuomo wrap, outlets, wifi, etc.). I guess these amenities have become a bit more common on public transit in other areas too.
  7. Why does 1705 look considerably better than the other buses?
  8. Welp, today I witnessed a n/b Q20A put-in at Main Street on a Saturday. I rly thought I was SOL when I just missed the Q44-SBS and was gonna be stuck waiting 20+ mins for another bus but lo and behold, I see a CS NG making the left turn from Roosevelt onto Main which I thought at first was a Q48 heading to layover. Left Main Street at 6:03, arrived at ~6:01 and waited around. I’m guessing dispatchers just move buses around to make up for gaps but I was wondering if it was an extra from the depot or was the bus told to go NIS from Jamaica to Main and go into service there. Then again, I did witness a LFSA n/b Q20A once a few yrs back before the Q44-SBS even became SBS, prob did a tripper but that was rare as hell.
  9. I wonder if that breakdown occurred due to the power-hungry HVAC.
  10. Weird, so I definitely got on a n/b Q44-SBS put-in (bus#5992) from Main St/39 Ave around 5:40PM, I saw it make the left turn from Roosevelt onto Main but it doesn't appear on the timetable schedule. Anyone know the reason for this?
  11. The next R211 set is coming in as we speak.
  12. The BxM4 and BxM7 schedules say Local Service lol. First thing I glanced upon. These are minor mistakes, not issues with the schedules themselves.
  13. It happens once in awhile, I don't think its a regular thing.
  14. It'd be interesting if they swap Kingsbridge LFS HEV's and Casey Stengel gets them instead. Kingsbridge might as well get the 2021 LFS diesels, they already have experience with them.
  15. Anyone know if the NG's are being retired already? Saw a few in the scrap lot.
  16. It has a code for South Ferry. I was on it yesterday, however the announcement is wonky as it runs local south of 42nd Street and switches over to the local track right before 34th Street. It was making all local stops but the announcement said "This is a South Ferry bound express train..."
  17. Probably just a pilot but which route did they bother advertising these on anyways? I'm guessing they'll try to roll it out to all buses first and then start advertising it. I remember they said no bikes on the n88 but if these bike racks aren't good, it'll be a colossal disaster.
  18. These operators need to know that the SBS tickets can be used on the local. Smh... It's been a rule since SBS was introduced to their respective lines and they're still getting angry. It's such a hidden rule though but I distinctly remember when SBS service is introduced to a new line, there were always DOT people at the stops sorta pressuring people into getting an SBS receipt regardless of whichever bus (local or SBS) came first. There needs to be a bulletin or memo put out to the operators for lines that have SBS and local counterparts. It does sorta fudge the numbers when you think about it because the SBS machine is going to report higher numbers than the local depending on where the swipe occurred.
  19. For anyone trying to catch "2510", it's probably a BusTime glitch, word is that it's actually 8267.
  20. I remember someone saying Jan 2022 but others are saying Dec 2022. This was around when Moynihan opened.
  21. Why is there so much smashed glass? Vandalism or intentional? These buses already look beat up as hell, I guess the only thing left of value is the scrap metal?
  22. Is the cheapest way to JFK Airport taking the Q3 and then getting on the AirTrain at Terminal 5? I believe the AirTrain is $7.75 now from outside the airport but free inside the airport?
