  1. There's no way they're spending the time and money to fix it. While it wasn't a big fire, there's still visible fire damage that is not worth the expenditure of fixing.
  2. I'm assuming it's a different team of people who are installing bike racks and putting on wraps.
  3. once every 2 months tbh. It's frequently posted, just gotta check every week.
  4. So that was your basis for determining how the chicken ended up on the bus? lol Anyway, VG8 did say in his group that it was the BxM2 where the chicken got onboard. According to the driver, it just hopped on at the Yonkers Depot.
  5. Be patient. If they want you, they'll reach out. Perhaps they haven't run the pre-screening yet.
  6. Follow-up question, so does it follow the A train schedule or does it operate under a different timetable/schedule and merely inserted in between scheduled trains? If scheduled to go in at 2PM and be out by 9PM, would that be the same routine that normally scheduled A train would do? Sorry if my question isn't clear, I can try to elaborate.
  7. Those don't mean anything. Wait for them to contact you.
  8. Welp Train 1523 Huntington to Penn is running with only 6 cars so... this should be interesting.
  9. Honestly they used to use Babylon branch before the schedule change provided service was running fine and there wasn’t a late train but they’ve changed it now to utilize the Main Line more. I’m guessing it’s less prone to delays cause of the third track. You would honestly just have to observe the train routings daily and see which branch it uses.
  10. This cannot happen. A 10 car train can just be shy of the switches just east of the station. They don't allow 12 cars in there. EVER. 12 cars would block the switches and restrict movement in and out of the terminal. A major railroad no-no. Max is 10 and that can only be on one of two tracks in Atlantic.
  11. That’s awful coding honestly. And you probably would’ve ran into some trouble with the other conductor had they been a little late with checking tickets.
  12. I believe GCM can hold 12 car trains. Where did you hear they can only hold 10 car trains? As for the second question, they've increased service requirements from I believe it was 780 or 790 cars during the peak to 910 cars which is almost maxing out the LIRR fleet. To increase service on the Atlantic branch, I believe they had to increase the number of cars needed. So as they run more trains, they need to downsize some of the 12-car trains to 8 or 10 cars and that has caused overcrowding on some trains.
  13. They actually have to close the tunnels into Penn for repair so they might shift more trains into GCM. Remains to be seen but that's what I heard from a conductor. It could be allocated already in these schedules. I believe Line 4 was gonna close first and they'll hit all of them.
  14. Doubt it. Don’t see why they would restrict you on activating it in order. It appears You do have to use them on the same day tho.
  15. It's programmed as two separate one-way trips which is the equivalent of if they sold you the same ticket twice. It is two separate tickets to activate. Since you can use them both ways, a Stony Brook to Jamaica ticket is the same thing both ways or you could use them to go Stony to Jamaica twice. Conductor pretty much only cares that you're riding between those two stations. You could use them on another line within the fare zones but you may get questioned if you're lost by the conductor but they'll still accept it lol.
  16. His narrow-mindedness is truly appalling to say the least to the point where he doesn't have much of an argument. While I can't comment on the technical specifications you mentioned, I've heard a locomotive engineer say that they've never ran late due to a slow-accelerating train. Even if the LIRR were to buy lighter trains which could accelerate faster, I'm not sure if they would upgrade the power stations located throughout the island. Allegedly, the M7's can accelerate faster but it's speculated that they've been downgraded for reliability purposes. LIRR also wouldn't want to damage its OTP (on-time performance) by cutting schedule time and scheduled run times have only gotten longer as the years go by. So I'm not sure if this is the same LIRR that would buy off-the-shelf European trains but here's hoping to that.
  17. Yes, just make sure you're on-time. They might lock the doors on you if you're late.
  18. Clearance issue. Dual-modes can operate into Penn in electric mode.
  19. Yep no M3’s and no diesels. I believe it was said that they couldn’t make the steep climb out of the portal on the way out or they didn’t want to risk it. They’ve never run an M3 in there to begin with.
  20. Yea, there's an order of M9 railcars that were bought with federal funding for both the Metro-North and LIRR and these will be dubbed the M9A which I think will also have some additional features such as powered bathroom doors, stainless steel urinals and Gorilla Glass windows that don't haze, fade or crystallize. As for when they're coming, I'm not sure because the current LIRR M9 order is wrapping up soon. Not sure when the M9A's will arrive. At first in 2014, MNR said they would order 188 cars, and then backtracked in Jun 2018 and said they would just overhaul the M3A's and then in Nov 2018, they said they would purchase 170 M9A cars.
  21. They finally scrapped 6 M7 cars that were damaged in various accidents over the years. Credits to Marc Glucksman - River Rail Photo. Does anyone know what happened to car 7054? Can't find anything online about it.
  22. Just curious, why is there a Train 698 but all the other PJ trains are usually low 600's or 650-672 around those ballparks. What makes Train 698 special?
  23. What's preventing him from using it that pass off-work?
  24. They start at $35 and work their way up to top pay $50/hr though whereas LIRR starts at $27 and max is $45/hr after 4 yrs.
