I don't know if it's really necessary. You already have 2 services there: the B1 and B49, and it seems like the B44 SBS is suited to a different demographic, and would make the total runtime on the B44 even longer. I think it would just be better to establish a simpler connection between Manhattan Beach and the B44, although that doesn't necessarily mean running 3 services to Manhattan Beach, especially when some residents there don't take the local bus anyway (I'd assume people would walk via Ocean Av Bridge to reach Sheepshead Bay for B44 or B4 > B44, if the B4's headways aren't actually crap)

I'd imagine that there would be two separate SAS services to replace the and respectively via Chrystie and the Bridge

This. I agree it may be useful, but it won't generate so much ridership in comparison with SAS or Utica. I think even the Triboro might be even more useful to pursue first (but maybe I'm biased, who knows). I feel like we all have said the same thing about these sorts of projects millions of times already.

I recently took possibly the last RTS bus out of Ulmer Park that I'll take on the B74...

It's been super delayed at this point... that's why I said in a previous post the stations will open probably never, because that's the state that they look like they're in, lol! It's impossible not to have gotten used to it by now, though. The only thing I hate about it is that it overcrowds the B9.

The only issue I have (and probably most other commuters have) is that there have been recent delays based on signal failures or problems, even on lines that are not slated to get CBTC soon (if you look at the Unplanned Subway Service Changes forum some recent examples that have been brought up are 4 Av, Jerome Av, and West End)

I'd say if anything, the B8's problems should be fixed first, hence the need for a split. My conjecture is that one half of the split can be used to serve the corridors that you are describing, or however you want to slice it, like extending the B67/69... that I'm not sure about.

I've never seen a B8 that did not bunch.
