  1. Perhaps. That said, very few can even qualify as usable, considering that the MTA's still cheap about soap and paper.
  2. Even disregarding how much space would be needed (or how else it would affect foundations), I honestly don't see the use in extending the line just far enough for storage and relays (in a pinch), as there's still much more that could possibly be served.
  3. Literally the only route I can even remotely see having any reduction in ridership loss due to a fleet change is the B35, and that's only because the buses are better suited for the chronic overcrowding (and even taking that into consideration, any such change would be negligible).
  4. The constituents don't want cuts. Beyond that, they're ambivalent at best to additional routes going to certain areas, which gives the MTA no incentive to even remotely try.
  5. So long as the two depots pool, this is moot. Sure, and having the Q35 run to Arverne is somehow not a 💩 idea (which goes double for a second route between the Rockaways and Brooklyn). I won't even bother with the rest of the stuff, seeing how it devolves into making less sense than the other stuff.

  7. Problem is, Utica already has more trains than it really needs (not so much for the in this regard, but altogether, yes). For clarity, I never indicated that one would preclude the other, just that improvements at one would do little with the other remaining poorly designed for its purposes.
  8. Exactly why I and B35 have basically said that anyone insisting that Knapp Street desperately needs a bus route is full of it.

Not to mention that the bulk of people already living on or near Knapp Street between Avenue X and Gerritsen Avenue (it doesn't directly meet Avenue U) are in reasonably close proximity to the B31 and can take it to Kings Highway if they're looking for service (instead of more substantial backtracking by going to the Sheepshead Bay station).
  10. It's not really an issue on weekends, but on weekdays, loads of people are riding, and 18 peak trains are just barely enough to handle Nostrand Avenue service. (The picks up the better part of its ridership along just that stretch, while most who take the transfer at Franklin Avenue, thereby balancing the loads. For what it's worth, the still retains some number of passengers.) Perhaps a proper extension would help. After all, Nostrand Avenue still has untapped potential.
  11. If one ends up finishing earlier than the other, it'll probably be the R262 order.
  12. If we're lucky, it'll perform slightly better than the B84.
  13. That's only one limiter. Good luck turning more than 18 trains at Flatbush Avenue.
  14. That would mean something if Knapp Street had a decent catchment area in the first place. By the time you hit Avenue X (heading south), what little potential it had to the east bottoms out, and the west does the same at Avenue Y. North of Avenue W, you may as well not even bother, as the B3 is at Avenue U (heading south, this is the last street to connect Flatbush and Nostrand Avenues). Sheepshead Bay covers much more than just that station. Depending on where you are, you can literally just take one bus to Flatbush Avenue and transfer to the Q35. If you used Trip Planner for that, the trip time would be an estimated 50-60 minutes, not 90. It would come down to the transfers and fares. The most notable issue, though, is the fact that this is a route that would only perform modestly during the summer, whereas it would tank during the rest of the year, especially if it uses Knapp Street.

  16. I mean, they've updated stickers before... They could also just leave them be.
