  1. I made a map of my proposed SI-NJ services: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1kUSyeCGaOyw4tIjFKhRuR8FKXBqk2DK8&usp=sharing 5 routes: S23 Perth Amboy to Tottenville Weekday-only Weekends, take S24 to Prince's Bay, then (SIR) Runs Nova LFS and Orion VII 3G S24 Perth Amboy to Eltingville Transit Ctr Runs all times except late nights Runs Nova LFS and Orion VII 3G S25 EWR to Eltingville Transit Ctr Runs all times (reduced service late nights) Runs Nova LFS S26 Rebadged S89, exact same as S89 S27 Exchange Pl to St George Runs all times except late nights Runs Nova LFS (can a Nova be on a highway that long @Lil 57@Deucey@checkmatechamp13?) via the North Shore ROW from Nicholas Av to St George Terminal. (could this section be converted to a busway or not @Lil 57@Deucey@checkmatechamp13?) Thoughts?
  2. As all 3 of you said, this would not work. I think a better idea for Crosstown-Manhattan service would be the following: 2 LINES ( and ) Rockaway Beach Local / Lower Montauk Local / Upper Crosstown Local / Williamsburg Bridge / LES Local / 1 Av Local / 63 St Crosstown / Columbus Av Local is renamed to Howard Beach (new express platforms) all stops to Aqueduct Racetrack Liberty Av (connection to Rockaway Blvd ) via Rockaway Beach Branch Atlantic Av LIRR (new station) Jamaica Av (connection to Woodhaven Blvd Myrtle Av - Forest Park Woodhaven Blvd via Lower Montauk Branch 88 St Atlas Park - 80 St Glendale - 73 St Middle Village - Metropolitan Av Fresh Pond Rd Flushing Av Maspeth Av 48 St Penny Bridge Humboldt St/Greenpoint Av Manhattan Av/Greenpoint Av Nassau Av Metropolitan Av Marcy Av via the ABANDONED TROLLEY TRACKWAY OF THE WILLY B, then via a new viaduct over Avenue C. Note: all stops after here are share with the Houston St 8 St 14 St Stuyvesant Town viaduct curves to 1 Av 26 St 34 St 42 St 48 St - UN 53 St (connection to Lex-53-51 ) 58 St 63 St-Lex Av via the tunnel, then a new crosstown tunnel under CPW, then to a new viaduct over Columbus Av 69 St 75 St 83 St 89 St 94 St 101 St 108 St 112 St/Amsterdam Av - Mount Sinai 116 St-Columbia University 122 St - Grants Tomb Culver Local* / Lower Crosstown Local /Williamsburg Bridge / LES Local / 1 Av Local / 63 St Crosstown / Columbus Av Local * all s run Culver Express Church Av all stops to Broadway Marcy Av all stops to 122 St-Grants Tomb
  3. If the goal here is to connect Crosstown to Manhattan, then I'd propose the following: SERVICE PATTERNS 8 Av Express all s run Culver Express, QBL Local, terminates at Jamaica-Parsons Archer becomes runs to Astoria runs to 96th starts at 2 Av, then runs via QBL Local to 179th see below FLEET ROSTER R160, R211 R160, R211 R46 R46, R68/A, R160 R46 R160, R211 R160, R211 R46, R68 WEEKEND CHANGES runs to 168 St on the LATE NIGHT CHANGES No Culver Local / Crosstown Local / Williamsburg Bridge / 5 Av Local / 63 St Express / QBL Express Church Av All stops until Broadway Broadway walk to New tunnel under S. 5 St Marcy Av B44 SBS B46 SBS via the abandoned trolley trackway on the Willy B or the pedestrian path, then into the abandoned trolley terminal Delancey-Essex (trolley terminal) via Chrystie St Connection Broadway-Laffayette curves off under Thompson St to a new viaduct over 5 Av Washington Square Park walk to 16 St 23 St 30 St 37 St 42 St 48 St underground to the 63rd Street Line under Park Av Lex-63 (new lower level) under the LIRR ROW, then merging with the Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Av Woodhaven Blvd Q52 SBS Q53 SBS Forest Hills-71 Av Kew Gardens-Union Tpke Parsons Blvd 179 St Would this be good @shiznit1987@T to Dyre Avenue@Deucey@paulbyron?
  4. Hi all, I’ve decided to make a Columbia Transportation Thread. Post any questions, comments or thoughts here. I’d like to start with a question: 2115 is running on the Manhattanville Shuttle, but when I saw it, it was 2143, an NYU bus. Did CU and NYU have a transfer? Also, why is 2116 on the Blue Line? Does anyone have status of 2117-8 and 2991?
  5. Does anybody know the SIM bus codes (especially for the SIM23 and SIM24)?
  6. Does anybody know if you can access the NY Central RR Hudson and Chatham Branch Bridge (over the Claverack Creek) in Columbia County? I know that one end is an active industrial track, but since I've seen pictures of people exploring it, I was wondering how they accessed it legally. Anyone know @Jsunflyguy@jaf0519@XcelsiorBoii4888?
  7. So the current active sections/lines are: whole line 241 to Chambers, Fulton, Nevins-Atlantic 148 to Chambers, Fulton, Nevins-Atlantic Woodlawn to Atlantic Dyre to Atlantic whole line 34-Times Sq, Grand Central 42 St whole line 207 to Jay 168 to Jay JFK, Lex/53, 50 to WTC 161, 145-Laffayette, Atlantic 161, 145-Laffayette, Atlantic 47-Laffayette, Jay Lex-53, 47-Lafayette Lex/59, 42-Atlantic 42-Canal, Atlantic Lex/59, 42, 34, 14, Canal, Atlantic Lex/59, 42, 34, 14, Canal Fulton-Chambers Fulton-Chambers none Franklin none Rockaway none Is this correct @Around the Horn?
  8. I'm affiliated with Columbia. Even though I don't think the University cares about the shuttles, therefore the need of a redesign, but also your point about Academy is valid, they wouldn't want to train drivers on the new routes.
  9. As I think I explained earlier, the routes are routinely 30+ minutes late (I rode one today that was 45 min late), and this overhaul should help with that. I know that with the , you could never do that, but with CU Transportation, the only thing that varies is the Lamont Shuttle, running either a single XE40 or 2 XE40s. Everything else stays the same (currently its 2992 on the Red, 2994 on the Green, 2116 on the Blue, 2143 on the Manhattanville, 2995 on the Fort Lee, 2993 and 2996 on the Lamont, and 2991 and 2115-18 as spares). And as I said above, units 2117 and 2143 (as well as 2118 - forgot to add that) would be spares. As well, Academy has ~10 VanHool buses that could be used as spares. So, even if one bus was down, you could replace it. Thoughts now?
  10. M3: NB via 110, right on Fredrick Douglass, left on 125, right on St Nicholas, SB in reverse M4: some buses short-turn to 135, some buses operate via Riverside from 135 to 145, some buses operate via HH Pkwy from 133 to 158 M5: see M4 reroute M7: NB via 106, left on CPW, right on 116, regular route, SB in reverse M11: all buses short-turn to 135 M100/101: see M5 reroute M116: see M7 reroute CU Public Safety East: see M7 reroute, then via M3 reroute to 125, then normal route CU Blue Line: runs fulltime via Harlem Hospital and 125th CU Red Line: via HH Pkwy from 133 to 158 CU Green Line: via Red Line reroute, during peak hours via Blue Line reroute.
  11. Hi all! I thought that we should have an abandoned railroads thread, as I know that many of us are interested in abandoned railroads. I'll start with a question: Does anybody know if you can access the NY Central RR Hudson and Chatham Branch Bridge (over the Claverack Creek) in Columbia County? I know that one end is an active industrial track, but since I've seen pictures of people exploring it, I was wondering how they accessed it legally. Anyone know? Thanks! @Jova42R
  12. Are there any R32s on the today? @VIP @paulbyron @R32 3838 You all seem to know usually!
  13. Ah yes, right. But those are not Academy buses. Any thoughts on the rest of the plan?
  14. And yet again I ask, why not just run s on the weekend to 168, and keep the 2 Av pattern? Also, are they doing shuttle buses?
  15. Would anybody ride an express bus similar to my SIM12C, from Tottenville to UWS via Bayonne, stopping in Bayonne?
  16. That would definitely make interstate travel easier. I’d personally say it should stop in Perth Amboy, so there could be a connection with ’s NJCL. Thoughts on that?
  17. In terms of QBL, why not run the to 179 via local and the to Jamaica via Express, with rush hour s express to Jamaica? Couldn’t that work? For 168th, I know that this is controversial, but why not run some s to 181 or 207 on the and cut some s to 168 Thoughts @CenSin @Eric B
  18. So they only have 14 units? 10 Optima Opus 30’ 4 Gillig Low Floor 35’ (1 HEV - @GojiMet86@MassTransitHonchkrow is this a Gillig Low Floor BRT?) Also, any insight on the map?
  19. Their routes need to be changed because they regularly run 30 minutes late. I’ve heard about the Riverdale Shuttle, but its not on their website. Do you know which buses they run or where to find the schedule?
  20. Hello all, I have made a redesign of Columbia Transportation. https://drive.google.com/open?id=12mljq57Boce2B8El71eQXZ_soZsAhkOX&usp=sharing The routes would be as follows: Red Line Morningside to CUMC via Broadway. Regular, current route runs 1 XE40 (same as current) Green Line 96th to CUMC via HH Pkwy rerouted via West End and HH Pkwy runs 2 XE40 (one XE40 added) Blue Line Morningside to CUMC via 125th and Harlem Hospital now runs fulltime via 125th runs 1 XE40 and 1 LFS (currently it alternates between a LFS and XE40, now with the route elongated, it would run both) Manhattanville Shuttle NOT a loop, 96 to 116 via 125th completely overhauled route runs 1 LFS (same as current) Lamont Shuttle (NOT SHOWN ON MAP) unchanged in all aspects Fort Lee Shuttle (NOT SHOWN ON MAP) runs 1 LFS instead of 1 XE40 So, the proposed fleet roster would be: New Flyer Xcelsior XE40: 2991, 2992, 2993^, 2994, 2995*, 2996 Nova Bus LFS: 2114, 2115, 2116, 2117**, 2143** *Transfered from Fort Lee Shuttle ^Transfered from Lamont Shuttle **Spare Buses
  21. Note here: the would run a Siemens Avenio reconfigured for high-floor. It would use catenary from 96 St to 60 St, then use battery.
