  1. You're right, the J does need CBTC while the Z is considered non-essential.
  2. This is how the Queens Blvd line was intended to be: R train branches off from the Queens Blvd line at 63rd Drive to Rockaway Park, G train terminates at 71 Av, E and F are express east of 71 Av to 179 St, and the M and Y train are local east of 71 Av to Rosedale and 179 St. Now I show you my google maps of the proposed super express line: https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1qGExSkAwDugYDQM4kGJH9YRYXe7qVt-c&ll=40.716991103451505%2C-73.87246555&z=12
  3. That could work temporarily, but assuming that the E and K will run local on Queens Blvd with the F and M being express, it would have to take over the Fulton and Rockaway lines which doesn't sit well with me. That's the reason why we need a new spur from the 8th avenue local line so that we can avoid abandoning 50 St all together.
  4. We're going to need the K train back if we're gonna de-interline central park west.
  5. Theoretically, the MTA can run 6 car 75-foot trains from Chambers St to Broad St. If that's a success, then the MTA can easily add R46's, R68's, and R68A's from Coney Island Yard onto the Z line for the very first time. The Z line would run from Chambers St via 4th Avenue and West End local to Coney Island at all times in order to help out the R/W line on 4th Avenue. In order for this to happen, the Z line would need to be taken of the Jamaica line completely due to the fact that it's just a copy of the J line. Unfortunately, the J line would need to terminate at Chambers St instead of Broad St because there's only capacity for one train service south of Chambers St.
  6. Now they're gonna give away $100.00 starting Friday, July 28 in NYC.
  7. If the RBB is going to be restored as a subway line, then the MTA should consider converting the Woodhaven Blvd station into an express stop as part of the reactivation process for the RBB because Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Avenue is insanely overcrowded during the AM/PM rush hour and it's mainly due to the fact that express trains are easily accessible at that station and it's only going to get worse if we attract more riders onto the Queens Blvd line.
  8. We can build one new trunk line at 10th Avenue, Madison Avenue, or 3rd Avenue in Manhattan, so we've got to choose wisely.
  9. If the Second Avenue subway were to be extended towards Brooklyn after phase 4, I would go for the Court St station and then run all Second Avenue subway services via Fulton St local, with all Eight Avenue subway services via Fulton St express. If you take a look at this track map, The Y train (Queens Blvd super-express/ 2 Avenue Local/ Fulton St local) would continue onto Pitkin Avenue to terminate at Cross Bay Blvd, while the T train (125 St/ 2 Avenue Local/ Fulton St local) would take over the Liberty Avenue line shortly after departing Euclid Avenue. The best part about this extension is that if it's ever considered, then the A train would be much faster than it is today because of it's direct route towards the Rockaways, while the K train (Grand Concourse express/ 8 Avenue express/ Fulton St express) would terminate at 105 St for a future extension to Cambria Heights via Linden Blvd. Also, the Lex-125 St stop is wasted potential since you are left with 1 extension into the Bronx rather than 2.
  10. It's not worth it honestly, if you de-interline the whole subway system there wouldn't be the need to bring back a subway line. Instead, you may find yourself removing certain lines that cause bottlenecks in the system such as the N line with the 59 St tubes.
  11. There's actually bell-mouth's located on the F line west of the Roosevelt Island station at 63 St and 1 Avenue on both levels for a planned Second Avenue subway track connection that would connect passengers to Queens from the Financial District, and in Brooklyn.
  12. You're not the first one to suggest this idea, however, a lot of people actually want this to happen because of its direct crosstown route from southern Queens to southern Brooklyn, the only issue is that Brighton riders along local stations won't have direct access to and from Manhattan which forces them to transfer at an express station just like the IND South Brooklyn line was intended to be. Your proposal also faces the problem of terminal capacity at the Brighton Beach station which can only handle one train service. So it's either the B or Q via Brighton express, it can't be both unfortunately.
  13. Enough with the parks already, smh. At least leave space for a fourth track and a platform.
  14. If you take a look at the track map for the BMT Nassau St line in lower Manhattan, you'll see that the abandoned side is on the right side and it used to follow the left side as far as Essex St. You can also spot the former Manhattan bridge connection which isn't needed anymore due to the Chrystie St connection. The J line would be shifted from the left side to the right side to eliminate the sharp curve for trains heading to and from the Williamsburg Bridge, and the Z line would stay on the left side since its a lot closer to South 4 St and it would allow for Z train service to terminate at Essex St with provisions for future expansion and relay tracks.
  15. If you take a look at a track map for the BMT Nassau St line, you'll see that the abandoned side is on the right side and it used to continue north as far as Essex St. You can also spot the former Manhattan bridge connection which isn't needed anymore due to the Chrystie St connection. BMT Jamaica line service would better off without the Z and maybe we can implement CBTC on the J and M line to tackle the Myrtle Avenue bottleneck once in for all.
  16. I was wondering why not use the abandoned platforms on the BMT Nassau St line in lower Manhattan for a new subway line running via South 4th St, Utica Avenue, and 4th Avenue local in Brooklyn for the G and L line riders? The J line would terminate at Chambers St since it would be too long to continue onto south Brooklyn and since the 4 track line turns into a 2 track line south of Chambers St. This new line would be the called the Z line and it would run from Floyd Bennet Field or Bowery to Coney Island via West End as a branch of the 4th Avenue local line. As a start, we can reactivate the abandoned platforms as far as Bowery for service coming to and from southeast Brooklyn. If the abandoned platforms are reactivated, then the Z line would avoid merging with the J and M lines like it does today and it will give passengers another option when it comes to commuting on the 4th Avenue subway and lower Manhattan. I doubt any of this will happen, but this my take. What do you propose?
  17. Speaking of the Rockaway Beach Branch, Andrew Yang actually supports the Queensway plan which is a slap in the face for central Queens residents. A train will always be better than no train at all. Check his recent instagram post.
  18. Send the B to 2 Av-Houston St via 6 Av Express / Concourse Local / Central Park West Local. Send the J to Bay Ridge-95 St via Broadway-Brooklyn Local / 4 Av Local / Canarsie Local. Send the N to Astoria-Ditmars Blvd via Broadway Express / 4 Av Express / Astoria / Sea Beach. Send the Q to Forest Hills-71 Av via Broadway Express / Brighton Express / Queens Blvd Local. Send the R to 96 St-2 Av via Broadway Local / 4 Av Local / 2 Av Local / West End. Send the Z to Broad St via Broadway-Brooklyn Express (rush hours only) / Jamaica Av. Extend the platforms on the Franklin Av Shuttle to accommodate 8 car-60 ft trains or 10 car-60 ft trains and restore the second track. Then, extend the Franklin Av line and connect it with the Myrtle Av line running from Coney Island-Stillwell Av or Brighton Beach to Metropolitan Av-Middle Village via Brighton Local / Myrtle Av. Finally, there will be 4 new stops added along the way at Lafayette Av, Spencer St, Tompkins Av, and Myrtle Av-Broadway. This new line, if built, would bring back the brown M train and will provide transfers to the G, J, L, and Z trains.
  19. Or another option could be using the Morningside avenue line bellmouths, but would not be on the same level as the Q. Instead, the bellmouths could be used to eliminate the sharp curve on the 60th st tube and to allow space for the new Northern line which would have the option for the express tracks or local tracks rather than just the local tracks. If you take a look at vanshnookenraggen's track map, you'll have a very clear observation on where the tracks go. It would also improve efficiency on the Broadway line. And now that I think about it the should be the northern line cuz the and are express and should not interfere with the local tracks.
  20. The IND 6th avenue line also has 4 branches FYI, the F and M go via 53 St or 63 St while the B, D go through the same tunnel up to 59 St colombis circle where it will switch from the local track or the express track, vice-versa. Same scenario will happen on Broadway, the Q and W will go via 63 St or 76 St, while the N and R go through the same tunnel for a short distance and will split off at lex 59 st bound for Astoria or Forest Hills.
  21. I've heard multiple proposals for the need of a new subway line under Northern Blvd, but here is my ideal Northern Blvd subway alignment. The W would be cut back from Astoria-Ditmars Blvd to 57 St-7 Ave. Why? Just north of the 57 St-7 Ave station on the local tracks lies two bellmouths that would have been used for the planned Morningside Ave line as part of the 1939 IND Second System plans. The W would then claim and repurpose these bellmouths that will go under Central Park up until 76 st, then curve east onto 76 st with transfers to the 6, Q, T. Once the W reaches Queens, it'll then run via Broadway with a transfer to the N. However, once the route hits Steinway St via Broadway, the current M and R trains run under that street too, so instead of utilizing the current section, it'll instead be built under both stations with two new track ramp connections to and from both levels in the event of a possible reroute on the Queens Blvd line or the Northern Blvd line. Once the W leaves Broadway, it'll then curve east as a four track line onto Northern Blvd in order to add capacity on the line. The other proposed line would be a Canarsie line that'll run via Northern Blvd local up to College Point-7 Av. Finally, once the W hits Main St via Northern Blvd, it'll then curve south via Main St to a transfer with the 7 line with the possibility of running via the Long Island Expressway. This new line would also help reduce capacity on the existing 59 st tunnels.
  22. There should be bellmouths east of the 96 St Station on the Second av line for a Queens extension, it'll serve the South side of Randall's Wards Islands, Give Queens commuters a faster ride to the Upper East Side, and serve areas with limited transit options. This new subway line will run under Ditmars Blvd as a two track subway line with a transfer to the and at Astoria-Ditmars Blvd. After leaving Ditmars Blvd, it'll continue onto Astoria Blvd as a 4 track subway line. Once the line reaches 112 St, another bellmouth should be added east of the proposed 112 St-34 Ave station for the (P) line, that'll terminate at Mets Willets Point with a transfer to the Lines as well as a provision to Whitestone, while the line continues south under 112 St as a 2 track subway up to Roosevelt Ave with a transfer to the and a future provision that'll run along the Grand Central Parkway to the Long Island Expressway similar to the 1968 Program for Action, this is where and trains would meet up to Kissena Blvd. In this situation, I propose that a new Pink (P) train would be the local service while the train would be the express service. Proposed (P) Route: 125 St Crosstown Line: With stops at Broadway, Central Park West, Malcom X Blvd, Lexington Avenue, 2 Avenue and the North side of Randall's Wards Islands. (With transfers to the A,B,C,D,T,1,2,3,4,5,6,9 lines) Whitestone: (Not sure where to align it yet) Highly Recommend Route: Brighton Lcl, Broadway Exp, 2 Ave, Astoria Blvd Express, Grand Central Parkway, and Long Island Expressway. IND/BMT Ditmars Blvd Line: (P) & Lines 21 St, Astoria-Ditmars Blvd (31 St), Steinway St, 48 St. IND/BMT Astoria Blvd Line: (P) & Lines Express Stops: 74 St, 94 St, 108 St Local Stops: 82 St, 88 St, 101 St IND/BMT 112 St Line: (P) Lines 34 Av, Roosevelt Avenue (112 St) Any questions regarding this post is highly appreciated 👍 🤯
