  1. In light of the recent announcement on the NICE bus thread about NICE getting new Gillig CNGs, what are the odds of the MTA getting new buses from Gillig next? I hate to say it, but the current scheme would look pretty decent on an Advantage BRT and considering how broke the MTA is and how weird 2020 has been, the sky's the limit.
  2. Any word on how much revenue NICE lost during the peak of the Coronavirus pandemic?
  3. It's more like 1989-2000 was 12-13 years. 2001 and up until 2008 or so was 15 years and 2009 to the present are 20 years or more. The 2009 Orion VII NG CNGs (#1700 was the 2008 pilot that was delivered in the fall of that year shortly after the #3800's started arriving) should be ATLEAST 15-16 years (tanks-wise), probably longer. The 2010-2011 buses should be the same if not longer and the 3Gs are about the same as the C40LFs in the city. In any case, why is NICE even getting these, I mean aren't they still in a contract with New Flyer? Those Advantage CNGs will never make pass 12 years, not with our punishing streets.
  4. I know this is old, but I think that NICE was smart about curtailing service to the city in a particularly dangerous situation. Remember, those stupid riots were burning police vehicles and buildings. NICE has hundreds of CNG buses, so why run the risk of having a CNG bus being set ablaze. It's bad enough the there are hundreds more CNG MTA buses in the inner city. Compressed Natural Gas have a relatively low flash point.
  5. Damn, how many of these got retired already? These buses are barely a decade old....
  6. SMH, at this horrendous spelling. If you are going to try to make a point, edit your posts before posting this nonsense! God I can't stand people who does this crap!!!
  7. I'm sorry, but what exactly does this have to do with that subway fire earlier in the year?
  8. Ok, that's the answer I've been looking for. I assume the same can be said for the next Prevost order?
  9. I mean, you're not wrong. I'm just saying that we can't be making long-term plans for these buses as we are not too sure what we will be getting and what will be cancelled. MTA's 2020-2024 capital plan could very well be a short one. The R262 contract is be delayed for the foreseeable future on the subway side and the R211 contract could be cut back on in terms of car quantity as well.
  10. Still a little surprised about that considering how Gleason's maintenance is usually top notch. Can't remember the last time a bus caught fire from there, probably not since the mid-2000s.
  11. Like the options for a couple hundred extra XD40s and LFS's?
  12. The 2012 MTA bus company Orion VII 3G CNG order had the first couple of buses built, but was cancelled soon after.
  13. To be honest with you, this order isn't even set in stone as the current MTA crisis is threaten to cancel some bus orders.
  14. I really don't have an answer for that one. Most likely the NGs were all they could send to the depot being that all they had at the time were old buses (RTS's and Orion Vs) and that these were slightly better off at highway speeds than their OG counterparts. Though that does not explain why they didn't get some of the 2015 XD40s...
  15. You do know he is just being loyal to his state right? Cuomo is the number #1 reason why NY is suffering right now. We can only hope he gets in thrown in the slammer like that moron Ed Mangano did in Nassau.
  16. Well I'll tell you right now that the whole SI bit is not happening. Remember, the MTA wanted to get all the remaining 2009-2010 Orion 7.501 Next Generation hybrids off of Staten Island given the fact that they don't do well out there due to the higher speeds and less in the way of stop and go areas. They got those 2019 Nova LFS diesels for that specific purpose while the NG's left the island to go replace older buses on other boroughs. I understand that the hybriddrive battery pack systems on these buses (the upcoming LFS hybrids in particular whereas the New Flyer buses will be a mix bag for some reason) will be a more advanced version than what the TA is used to (not counting the 10 existing XDE40 test buses at GA), but they will still be made by BAE systems, which had previously equipped the Orion 7 family with this tech. As it stands right now, the only electric buses that will be instore for the borough in the near future will be the full on EV buses (whenever those arrive). Until then, like I was trying to originally tell everyone on here, let's just wait and see. Thank you
  17. Alot of the Orion 7.501 EPA10 "3G" CNGs are getting them I noticed. Also, it seems like NICE bus is about to get $18 million in funding according to transit magazine. Some of that money will be used to purchase 23 new CNG buses (likely more Xcelsiors though it is not clear if they will be more XN40s, XN60s, or a mix of both).
  18. Also, for the people who are speculating as to where the LFS hybrids are going, it's pretty clear that most of these along with the XDE40s are going to depots that have Orion 7.501 OG hybrids (ENY, FP, MCH, MJQ, and MV). These are for NYCT garages only.
