  2. Even my train got held in the station because of train traffic...and I was all the way back at 30 Av lol. T/O himself came out the cab and told us were gonna be sitting in the station for a while because he caught up to the train in front of him. It got so bad, the bottleneck backed up all the way to 30 Av going TOWARDS Astoria. I got so annoyed by it, I got off at 39 Av and walked to the at Court Sq.
  3. I'm pretty sure he's referring to the point that since the comes out of Coney Island, they're gonna use the 10 car sets there. No need to overboard there
  4. 1. More than likely 2. Safe to assume any depot with an RTS
  5. No. They come out as needed, and the number varies day to day
  6. They count CBTC failures with the R143s along with regular wear and tear, so their numbers dropped significantly
  7. Making everything run 600' trains in the east is more than just extending platforms... Switches and signals would have to be relocated, and in certain places (Bway Junction & Rockaway Pkwy come to mind), it's just outright infeasible. Not to mention all of the yards would have to be reconfigured to handle them. The barn at ENY has to be extended, along with all of the layup tracks. The deck can definitely hold 10 (possibly 12) cars, but the track layout in the lower yard has to be reconfigured. And given the space there (a street on one side and the bus depot on the other side), the yard footprint isn't big enough for it. Fresh Pond yard has no room for an extension with the bus depot surrounding it, Canarsie barely has room, but it'll be a tight fit. This is one of those "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" problems.
  8. -replacing the and for it to turn around at 14 St without holding trains up. -station rehab work at Junius St -not sure about the north end, but the south end is most likely work at Cortlandt St. -see above -track replacement around 52 St -track work -not sure -direct connection to the -6 Av shut down for work -see above -track work -track work -minimize train traffic over the Broadway side of the Bridge. The and is already going over it, no need for the
  9. There's at least 4 other cars I know of still with those knobs ...hardly one of a kind
  10. via Crosstown or 53 St terminates at 57 st
  11. It goes back all the way to the 1999 RTS. They all do it, the best ones are the 3Gs in Staten Island where the lights slowly dim off lol
  12. They're trying something different now with the converted 6 car sets. They're "flipping" the set around, so now the C car insert will be the 5th car on the Main St side. 6 car set still facing Flushing though
  13. There is an program via West End/Bway/Queens Blvd ...but it's only for northbound trains Southbound trains are screwed. I took it last night going home from work and my train was signed up for 6 Av/West End. They removed stops that aren't on Broadway, but left stops that closely resemble Broadway stops. Example stops using my train from where I got on to where I got off. Omitted stops in red: -Roosevelt Av -21 St-Queensbridge -Lex-63 St -57 St -Rockefeller Ctr -42 St-Bryant Pk -34 St-Herald Sq -23 St -14 St -W 4 St -Bway-Lafayette -Grand St -Atlantic-Barclays -36 St The problem with it was that the distances don't sync up as the train thinks it's on 6 Av so the stops were coming in at arbitrary times and the conductor made the announcements manually.
  14. It's an all local line that doesn't go outdoors, why would it be?
  15. How can you have a bi-directional express with only 3 tracks?
  16. 1 of the 5 pilot XN40s came because the other 4 failed the audit. 676 got sent back, and I don't think 673-675 made it down
  17. They aren't banned gtom the . They can always add C/Rs on weekends
  18. All of the hybrids in the city are the same diesel-electric setup, if that's what you're asking.
  19. And then the next day another one derailed in the same spot
  20. That shuttle was useless. It carried air more than anything, and it got confusing to people when the shuttle and regular overlapped between Essex St and Broad St.
  21. Continuous welded rail, and a new type of track bed
