  1. I wonder how many riders connect there and how many go for shopping? I'm not saying eliminate ALL bues from stopping at the mall just relocating the bus terminal to NCC....
  2. This is just an idea that popped into my head, I know others said Roosevelt Field is very unfriendly to bus riders... I know that there is alot of unused space at NCC, maybe NICE and the County could explore a partnership to build a new bus terminal there, replacing the Malls terminal? Seems like it could work and I'm sure they could get funding for it, the streets are already there becuase of the former military base... They could even just buy new bus shelters and place them along a couple of the streets, wolla new bus terminal on NCC property, almost across the street from MF! This would also eliminate the delays many say they expereince during the holidays.
  3. BTW, isn't Hemstead Transit Center considered public property? You should have the right to take pictures, maybe you could go to legal aid and ask if an attorney would mind drafting you a letter you (and other fanners) could carry around basically saying to who it concerns, blah blah blah is considered public property becuase of abc xyz, and the general public have the right to take pictires there because of abc xyz laws... You could carry a copy of the note... If security gives you a hard time, ask for his/her name if they give you hard time ask for a supervisor to come over, the supervisor will prob know a lot more of the law and be afraid of walking on someones rights, especially if they have a letter from an attorney. You never know, you could find a "bus lover" who will write you the note... I once knew a lawyer who drove a school bus (had subs fill in when he HAD to be in court) not becuase he needed the money but because he loved driving a school bus (loved both buses and kids he was an older guy).
  4. Brett, obviously you need to work on your ninja disapearing skills like the one who made the video.
  5. It would cost too much too much to put NCPD on buses just to catch people writing on seats, and if they did it's not like a cop would be on every bus. Putting cops that make $70,000+ a year on buses would bankkrupt the County in overtime, if you did not do this in overtine you would be taking resources and officers off the street to make sure people would not write on seats. And you still wouldn't have a cop on every bus, so graffiti could still end up on buses. The problem is the community, if more people took pride in the buses they have to ride and gave the little punks shit when they see them doing this it would stop. But no one cares.
  6. Is there a bus you that you can transfer from the S1 that goes to ISP?
  7. Very eye catching signs! I was at Walt Whitman Mall for the first time since they made the new bus area and those signs def. stood out making it easy to see where the NICE bus stop shelter was!
  8. They must love you. lol I always knew nycairporter was owned by Veolia but until I was on the Golden Touch website today I just noticed that Golden Touch said nycairporter was "it's new service. I always thought it was owned and operated by Veolia but today I just realized nycairporter is operated by golden toouch (I just looked up pictures of buses and it even says that). I just wish they came up with a better, more catchy name than nycairporter!
  9. How does it work in the Netherlands? Does Veolia own the transit systems? Veolia runs many public transit systems for municipalities here in the US but also owns nycairporter, golden touch transportation, supershuttle, and many taxicab companies across the country.
  10. I have been clear from the begining that I was talking about illegal practices! Why are you jumping in to argue about legal tacticts? I don't get it... I post illegal illegal illegal.... and you want to counter it with legal legal legal... You say you should've specified you were talking about legalized whatever, but why? It has nothing to do with I said in the first place. Should I throw things into this that has nothing to do with what you said? Why the hell would a politician turn their head and ignore something legal? Why would they need a bribe to turn their head to something legal? Oh well, this is politics, it happens everywhere in every election. I'm sure the ATU 1181 is funding the person they want to replace Bloomberg. And again Cuomo is a politician, if the situation I talked about ever happened you bet your ass Cuomo would care because him bringing those involved with stealing from the State would make him look good. Cuomo and that schmuck schumer would be all over TV bragging about the good they did! I swear to god I always see Schumer on TV taking credit for something someone else did, getting his "look at me and look at what I did" time. But that's a topic for another day.
  11. Guys we're not talking about transit, they would care about the issue of a multinational corperation stealing federal funds. Why would they care, and not look the other way for drop in the bucket of their campaign? Because being the one to bring this down is a huge notch in their career and a great bragging point at election time. Especially so if you can make it look like your opponent looked the way or was in bed with them? Right, people who can pay off politicians don't go to prison, you better call up Bernie Madoof's attorney and tell him that one. I never said that, I think I was very clear in my last post! Bwhahahahahaahahahah!
  12. Incredibly naive? I said if funds from the government meant for transit service ended up in their pocket becuase they didn't have as big of a profit they expected at the end of the year. You are talking about legal loop holes, the key word their is legal, obvious I was talking about pocketing funds not through legal loopholes. ie pocketing money from the government meant for transit service becauae they wanted to bad their bank account because thier profits weren't as big as they hoped ie NOT legal loopholes. What I described is stealing... Ok, you make a point that maybe Mangano might look the the other way BUT Gov. Cuomo, Attorney General Schneiderman, and Nassau County DA Rice are Democrats, why would they look the other way?
  13. NICE's budget comes from Nassau County, New York State, and the federal government. These entities "give" money to Veolia to run the transit system, in return Veolia is paid a fee for doing a service. Veolia is not like acompany like, let's say Macy's, who would be like "we had a bad year, we need to make cuts." Veolia doesn't put any of their own money into NICE bus (sure maybe they front money for things to be paid back and probably had to spend a good amount of money to be in Nassau County and send people in from all over the country, but that's the proce of doing business). Veolia is "given" money to run the system and paid fir doiing this service. Veolia could not reduce service for NICE to reduce costs becuase the parent company lost money, that would violate the contract. Also if any Nassau, the State, or federal government gave Veolia money meant for the transit system and they decided to reduce the service and pocket the money instead I'm pretty sure whoever made that decision could be brought up on fraud charges.
  14. Actually the way it is worded NICE is the County's bus system (not owned by Veolia) that is operated by Veolia. "Powered by Veolia" When machines attack!
  15. I don't understand why this thread is marked "official"? What does that mean? Wouldn't anything "offical" reguarding NICE come directly from NICE, the County, or someone on the inside?
  16. Fanners Attack! I want a foamer on every corner near Mitchel Field and Rockville Centre, we will have photo confirmation if 1808 enters Nassau County! European transit funding =/= Transit funding in Nassau County
  17. Very interesting. I agree it's about the money, hey that's what politics is right? Washington is full of lobbyists funding thier M O... I'd be interested to see what other campaigns Veolia (and the other big transportation companies) fund? Is it only republic because that's their party of choice or "thier man" who will get them into office. Will there be any public question sessions for Suozzi? I'd love to hear his stance on Veolia and who'd he'd like to see run the transit system in 2017! Culver, would you agree with me in that Veolia provides more service per dollar than the MTA did?
  18. Pine Power, was this the same driver who told you that the new 1840+ buses weren't going to be put on the road because of a funding dispute between the County and Veolia (and then poof a couple of days later members posted pics of lower 1840's in service)? Where do you meet all these ex drivers? Is there a coffee shop up on the north shore or something where you go for your "insider" info? Just having fun BTW...
  19. Are you saying security doesn't like NICE or the NICE passengers? Why do you say this?
  20. Maybe not the proposal they want? Can they do that? Since it's a county bus system only run by Veolia maybe they are requried to use the RFP process?
  21. I found it interesting but I'm a big dork. lol It's interesting to see all the "connected" people get nice good high paying jobs. I think it'll be interesting to see where the funding for Suozzi's campaign comes from. ...and even more interesting if he wins to see if he see's the value in nice and funds a nice transit system. Suozzi did start reducing the county's share in the MTA then again he balanced a huge deficit so he did cut a lot from multiple places. Suozzi also has millionaire friends connected to the MTA. So it will be interestig to see what happens to the contract with Veolia at the end of the 5 year term if Suozzi is in office. You'd have to assume giving the people he associates with there are a few less high ranking, high paying MTA jobs. Stay tuned..
