  1. World Cup stadium bids were long ago decided. Put it this way… I was on my train during the aftershock and felt nothing.
  2. To build on what Goliver said… this isn’t a job… this is a career. This is a responsibility you NEED TO TAKE SERIOUSLY. Over the course of my probation… I was NEVER late. Not once. I only called out sick once, and that was for Covid, which is, or at least was at the time, off in its own little corner of the rules. Unless something had gone wrong, I was always 15 minutes early for my reporting time. Some times even earlier. Partly because I knew where I was going… a few of my classmates eventually got lost. One went to Ditmas instead of Ditmars. Another went to the wrong Bay Parkway. Told they had a Delta job… went to Bay Parkway Sea Beach.
  3. maybe you all should have thought about that before you started calling for Airtrain LGA to be canceled, as that would have given the entire Willets Point station complex a full renovation.
  4. Because the questions you asked are how retailer jobs tend to operate…
  5. You asked about “completing assignments” and “getting done what can be got done”… Let’s call it a “business” mindset then. Ether way, we don’t operate anywhere near that in transit.
  6. Need to get out of the retail mindset because that is nowhere near what the job is like. the lines assignments are broken up into pre-set jobs. These jobs all have pre-assigned trips. Those are your trips to do and that’s what you’re going to do unless something has gone wrong.
  7. I mean, I remember as well… but remembering doesn’t get me a one seat ride home from midtown after 9 or a two seat one after midnight… which is something I have long complained about. Starting from center of Times Square station, standing outside the old record store… you can travel to every single station in the system with, at most, just one transfer 24/7*…. EXCEPT for the non-transfer stations on the Myrtle Avenue El in the midnight hours. (*barring GOs of course)
  8. a lot of what goes on behind the scenes tends to be, to keep things short and simple, well above my pay grade to ether question or understand. They tell me where to go and when, and I get my caboose there.
  9. I mean… have you met the human race… there are people who have absolute meltdowns over the personal lives of total strangers… common sense doesn’t exist anymore. common sense says “tell them you’re an employee when they try to stop you.” common sense says “show them your pass” common sense says “DON’T HIT OTHER PEOPLE! COP OR NOT, KEEP YOUR HANDS TO YOURSELF!” Then again it’s amazing the number of people who have asked me to let them through the gate and can’t process “I am not a station agent. I do not have the authority to let you in.”
  10. There was also a GO those two weekends taking out T1/B5 track from the 63rd street cut down through to 47-50th, so 96th and 57th were out of the question anyway.
  11. And the main purpose of sending the M up from Essex in the first place is because there is no L service between 8th and Lorimer at all. The N is at least running to all its station stops. On the hierarchy of service changes, substituting for service suspension comes before limited frequency. it’s one weekend. You know how often I’ve had to deal with complete suspensions of service on week days on the M around my house? little tired of people moving heaven and earth to make life easier for some people, while little old me, shuttle bus at 9 AM on a Tuesday…
  12. Considering the one numb nut who made the news… we are always supposed to swipe ourselves in through the turnstiles with our passes.
  13. That’s been in the timetable for… well.. forever…
  14. Because the A, C and D sharing the downtown express track on CPW, there is no room. and this Go is to supplement for the lack of the L in Manhattan, what good would 145 do for that?
  15. To my knowledge they are done with that project, at least for now. as a matter of fact, most of the work coming up on the Q is at the north end.
  16. Here’s the thing… the Mikey wasn’t “cut in half”. 90% of M crews still have trips. yes, that has made Metropolitan Ave crew quarters very crowded, but, c’est la vie… So the boosts on the other lines were not really at the expense of the Mikey, they are temporary jobs mostly filled by new people without fully picked jobs on a line. The extra crew needs on the R actually surpassed what the M or E could give up.
  17. Not possible, 96 will be occupied by the Mikey that weekend.
  18. This isn’t Twitter, my friend. You can speak full sentences without worrying about character count.
  19. Aside from the fact I don’t trust TikTok as far as I can throw it, that is not the same thing. People rent out our facilities all the time to film stuff, that’s not the same thing as paying us to run a public passenger service.
  20. No, not. HEET or an Iron Maden.. PATCO uses gates more like what they installed at Supthin-Archer, just… taller. http://www.ridepatco.org/schedules/freedom_reduced_fare.html
  21. No one pays us to run services one way or another.
  22. What subway were you taking because we never had “gates” like PATCO’s…
  23. "in the past 24 hours" yes. In the past 48 hours it's at least the fourth.
  24. Something a lot of people forget… A barrier only stops people who want to be stopped…
