  1. He's more than likely extra so, no he can't pick whatever rdos he wants. Even when he can pick he'll be stuck with m/t or t/w rdos anyway. With a higher turnover rate in that title due pay rates you probably could move up in seniority faster though.
  2. Not true. DCAS always did promo and open competitive exams on the same day. When I took promo C/R exam in 2008 my wife was taking the O/C exam. Samething for the T/O exam the following year.
  3. You should be a shoe in then. This is not one of the more popular MTA exams (i.e. C/R, T/O and B/O exams), so a score a 94 is fantastic. I scored that on my S/A exam back in 2004 and had a list number in the mid 300's.
  4. Yeah the time to file has passed. But keep checking http://mta.info/nyct/hr/appexam.htm for traffic checker and other (NYCT) positions.
  5. They contact you. Usually, well when DCAs handled the exams they would send the notice of examination at the latest 4 days before the exam. If you didn't hear anything on that thursday before the exam, you had to go downtown to get a notice of examination card. Since the MTA is handling their own exams I have no idea how things are going to work. But in any case give 180 livingston a call three days before the exam if you don't hear anything.
  6. Nah 5 days jobs are over for me. I worked 2 five day booths and hated them both. People like to get too familiar with you when they see you on a daily basis. And anyway with RDO's I will be working the same job once a week on a certain day or 2 times a week. I'm not sure whether I want to work 2 nights one place followed by another 2 nights then 1 night somewhere else. Or just work 5 different places every night of the week. But either way I have to wait til then to see what's up on the board for me to pick.
  7. O Well at the moment I'm PM extra since being reinstated. I picked night RDOs, and I have to go pick the jobs on Monday @ 13:30.
  8. Congrats once again Transit Bx, and welcome to the family. Oh and by the way where do you live in The Bronx? I live in the north east bronx off of boston road.
  9. Yeah and each one of those lines are crap LOL. The Bx39 might have been okay before TA extended it to Wakefield. But the Bx12 is self explanatory and the rest are all concentrated in the South Bronx mostly. They all end their routes in Throggs Neck or Pelham Bay, but the majority of your riders will be boarding at the other end of the lines.
  10. Congrats on your achievement brother. Good luck during the rest of your probation.
  11. Whoa! 13???, that pretty high. I'm sure you've got it much lower than that now. I usually float around 8 or 9. But when I was first diagnosed I was pretty high too. I was around 17, the doctor's where looking at me like how am I still walking and talking and not in a coma. But once you get clearance from your doctor you will be cool. Just be prepared to be going to transits clinics very often.
  12. I know, but I never wanted to do the C/R job, I was never interested in it. I took the exam because it was the only promo exam available at that time. And I believe in taking all promo exams I qualify for. I was laid off at the time they sent me the notice for pre employment and they sent me my reinstatement letter as well. So I pursued it just to get back into the . But once I got my old job back I changed my mind.
  13. Just make sure your a1c level is 7 or below. They may put you a medical hold so that you can take their form to your doctor to clear you. And make sure you have your bp under control as well. I too am type 2 diabetic, and was put on medical hold for a C/R promotion. I got clearance from my doctor, but decided that the C/R job wasn't for me. I will pursue the T/O job when it comes out again.
  14. Yeah cuz the bx12 goes through the ass end of the Bronx Fordham road. It goes down Pelham which is nice but in the summer months it goes out to Orchard beach, and your gonna be dealing with loud crowded buses full of people that smell of nasty beach water and beer, blasting loud music.
  15. Good move Jay dubs. Just stay away from the bx12 like it's the plague lol. Try to get the bx22, 28,38 or 30. And did you ever get a answer for that call you got yesterday?
  16. I hope so too. This is definitely a job you can make a career out of and retire with a good pension. You've gotten through the first hurdle of getting past day 7, now it's time to get past year 1 and the "P" for probationer moved from in front of your name.
  17. Congrats on a job well done, and welcome to the family brother.
  18. Best of luck on day 7. I know you'll do well. You worked this hard to get where you wanted, so you will be successful.
  19. You will be working out of the same depot. And you will be working the same tour. If you happen to work a double I believe they have to give you at least 8-10 hours of rest.
  20. It went pretty well, I should be expecting my job back by Mar/April the earliest. I posted a bunch of info about the meeting along with redeployment info on the TA career section.

  21. Hey mike can I get an invite to the crew room?
