  1. Surprised this hasn't been mentioned: https://www.honolulu.gov/transportation/divisions/mobility/rail-operations.html https://honolulutransit.org/
  2. I think @jaf0519 is correct. I believe they will also attempt to put some of the major corridors on the destination sign (e.g. "via Montauk Highway" for the 2 or "via Middle Country Road" for the 58) By any chance, would it work to take the 7A to Patchogue for the Montauk Branch? (You'd get to Jamaica about 9 minutes earlier compared to the Ronkonkoma Branch)
  3. Yikes, that's the last round-trip for that route. On another note, I took the 748 a couple of days ago and that route is as bad as everyone says...the bus I ended up taking was 71 minutes late and bunched right in front of the following bus. And to top it off, neither bus was trackable on MyBusNow....no wonder the 746 is the more popular route along Madison Avenue...that route actually runs on something resembling a schedule...
  4. Actually, I stand corrected, the final plan is available here: https://connectli.org/ReimagineTransit.html (they still have the Powerpoint presentation with the confusion with the S62 regarding Fresh Pond Avenue service). This is pretty much the same as the last draft schedule, but the big question is, when will they release the precise schedules? (I want to see if they made any sort of attempt at coordinating with the LIRR)
  5. The simplest is to just extend the routes to Amityville. The n80 can run straight down Oak Street, and the n19 can run down Merrick Road/Montauk Highway to NY-110 (or County Line Road) to reach the Amityville LIRR station.
  6. If you click the Reimagine Transit link, it still seems to be broken, but that's good news that they are planning on posting the final plan soon.
  7. For the (NJT versions of) the DeCamp routes, here are the exact changes: #191D: AM service reduced from 6 trips to 5 in the AM, and from 8 trips to 6 in the PM #192D: AM service increased from 5 trips to 7 in the AM, 6 trips to 7 trips in the PM #195D: Remains as-is (4 trips in each direction) #199D: Remains with 4 trips in the morning and 5 trips in the afternoon, but with an extra 3 #199K trips added to Kearny/Harrison for former DeCamp #99 riders (this is actually an increase from the 1 DeCamp trip that operated post-pandemic, though likely still a decrease from pre-pandemic service levels).
  8. I mean the unofficial Doug & Adrienne maps look alright...all they have to do is use the same process and produce and updated version of those maps. Rhode Island manages to have a statewide map, and granted it's a smaller state, but they do manage to pull it off.
  9. Maybe this is a step in the right direction of an official systemwide map: https://www.njtransit.com/press-releases/nj-transit-launches-customer-educational-campaign-know-your-abcs-alternates-backups
  10. Living outside of the city wouldn't have any impact. They give a commutation pass good for LIRR or Metro-North (depending on which service area you live in). There's Transit employees coming from far-off exurbs in Delaware and Pennsylvania. I know the Transit Learning Center is in Gravesend, Brooklyn. Not sure if there's any other options besides that one, or how long it takes before you actually get out onto the road operating passenger trains.
  11. I mean, depending on when the bridge needs to be replaced, the clearance issue could be considered when building the new bridge. To my understanding, the physical branch runs through Richmond Hill (though the actual trains run through Hunterspoint Avenue)
  12. That definitely rings a bell. I remember that B/O from back when I lived on Staten Island...cool guy...
  13. It's basically to refine the estimates of how long it will take to reach the next actual stop (e.g. Similar to the "stop" where the NJ Turnpike exit approaches the Goethals Bridge
  14. Actually, the main purpose is to provide a direct connection from Passaic to GWB (So I'd definitely be interested in an alternative routing for a #182 extension). The #753 reroute is to maintain the connection from Hackensack to Englewood Hospital (otherwise, I would just have anyone heading to the hospital transfer to the #166 and call it a day).
  15. Yeah, regional connections are definitely lacking in that area. I mean before last year, they didn't even have any service to Philadelphia (now it's a whopping 2 round-trip per day, and you technically can't even book a trip between Reading and Pottstown). Service to Allentown is a couple of trips on OurBus.
  16. Hopefully as part of that, they can consolidate trips so that intermediate travel is easier. Right now, if you're trying to get from Stamford to say, New Rochelle, it is very difficult with all of the trains running in non-overlapping zones. For Shore Line East, the sad thing is they invested in the new electric cars for it. I would try my hand at extending Metro-North trains out to Old Saybrook (with a crew change at New Haven if there's territory issues between Amtrak and Metro-North crews) to see if that increases ridership. Even if there aren't that many riders going all the way to NYC, I'm sure there are some who are going to areas like Bridgeport and Stamford.
  17. Starting April 14th, 2019, they eliminated that rule, so if you rode recently, there would be no issues. But prior to that date, the official rule was that they were supposed to charge you from whatever the previous stop on that train was (Mount Vernon West, New Rochelle, Stamford, etc)

  19. Some restructuring of the two portions of the #780 (east and west of Hackensack Bus Terminal) #182 (and off-peak #178) extended from Hackensack to Passaic, providing a direct ride to the GWB from Hasbrouck Heights and Passaic. As ridership increases, it can be considered whether to cut the #178 back to Hackensack, and provide an increase in service on the #182 in its entirety. #753 rerouted to operate via Forest Avenue, Lafayette Place/Lafayette Avenue, Palisade Avenue, Engle Street, then follow the Rockland Coaches route up to Madison Avenue, come back across Madison Avenue to Washington Avenue, and then swing down to Main & Washington to terminate.
  20. To put things into perspective, NJ Transit constantly does promotions every season. The MTA definitely has room for improvement in that regard.
  21. They implemented a 10% discount on monthly passes, so $301 is the correct amount: https://new.mta.info/document/19751 For the UniTicket, technically, it's only valid at Flushing, Rosedale, and Bayside. Not sure how it works in practice (I mean, there's nothing saying somebody from Jamaica couldn't be looking to board the Port Washington Branch at Flushing, so I assume they wouldn't give you a hard time).
  22. It sounds like the B/O let him off at Bloomfield Avenue & Park Street in Montclair, rather than taking him all the way to Bloomfield for the #72. (I guess she thought anywhere along Bloomfield Avenue must be in Bloomfield). In other words, if he had walked straight to the #72 from MSU, that would've been roughly the distance he walked from Montclair Center to Bloomfield Center.
  23. Yeah, one of the other issues is that on the bus tracking apps, it sometimes causes the bus to not be visible in the app. I remember when bus tracking first started being available, there were complaints from some of the B/Os about being tracked...in other words, they couldn't play games with the schedule, so now that you mention it some of it might not even be carelessness, but rather intentional.
  24. In this proposal, would the BL-9 run across Executive Blvd from Broadway to Nepperhan, or would it loop around Enterprise Blvd and head back? I think it's important to maintain access from Nepperhan & Odell as well, given the steep hill in that area. Perhaps the BL-1 (or some variant of it) can head up Odell to terminate at the Executive Park, and provide a connection between the areas down the hill on Warburton and the hospital and office park at the top of the hill. I just realized, what is the current turnaround scenario for the BL-1 at the Yonkers City Line? Do they use that parking lot over there, or something else?
