  1. You're welcome, glad to help in any way I can.
  2. So the instructor from Days 1 to 7 was a real assh**e, I even wrote letters to the VP of the Dept. of Buses about him. Half-way into the initial 7 day training, I got a very bad gut feeling. Day 9, I liked the Superintendent very much, however I almost hit a pedestrian while servicing a bus stop. On Day 10, one of the two instructors was my original instructor, which was not good from the start, at least in my opinion.
  3. According to the link above, 12,494 people passed the test.
  4. Just got home from the exam, any feedback? For me, although I got an 11 AM exam time, I got there early, and was able to walk in, get a card with the room and seat #, and get started. The exam for me started at 10:30, I was finished by 11 AM since I took this exam before. In the event any of you are curious - I was wearing a white jacket with a black hoodie with a black and yellow hat while waiting outside of the school. My room # was 515 and I was in the second seat towards the hallway. In addition, my list # for this is 410* [anywhere from 4100 to 4109]. Next, upon leaving the building, I was so shocked to see so many people outside waiting to take the test...I'm so glad I got there early. Depending on how many people pass the BOSS test and how many people pass the first drug test @ 180 Livingston Street, they should have a good healthy list of people. Now, for those who have been reading the 2613 thread, you know that I initially tried becoming a B/O in February of 2014 and I failed. I'm willing to try again since I took B/O exams 4600 and 4105. I know you have to go to DCAS to get my list # reinstated for 4600, but how about for 4105? Any advice? Thanks in advance...
  5. So I got my official "NOTICE OF RESULT" in the mail today. Upon reading this notice, within the first paragraph, two of the sentences state: "Please note that a list must be established and vacancies must exist before it can be used for hiring purposes. Eligible lists are usually established sixty days after they are made public." Just a reminder that my list # is 280* (between 2800 and 2809), with a score of 95.00%. Any feedback or thoughts about this? With 12,494 candidates, this will be interesting...
  6. In my opinion, there is some good news about this... As of now (11/11/2014), the HR Department @ NYC Transit is still working with the 2613 list. From reading that thread lately, it is safe to say that they are up to the halfway point, since some of the folks in the last class had list numbers in the 1900s and 2100s, and there are 3,617 candidates on the list. Therefore, with the 'temporary' hiring freeze going on, in my opinion the 2613 list will be finished by late 2015, which means that the list for 4600 won't be released any time soon, like within the next 3 months. Therefore, even with these points and/or infractions, the HR Department only looks at your driving record for the past 3 years. Therefore, depending on the score you got from the initial civil service test back in December of 2013, you might be alright providing you don't get any more tickets or points, depending on how big, or long the list is for B/O exam 4600. Also, from my experience from going through the hiring process from B/O exam 2613, some people were getting turned away because their license was not clean for 3 consecutive years. Therefore, as an example, if you got into an accident in January of 2012, and you got called to Employment Processing in late November of 2014, HR would simply tell you to come back in two or three months when the accident is past 3 years old. It's not like they're telling you "good-bye" and your chances of working for the MTA are completely gone. Hope this helps...
  7. Thanks! Same to you! So the other day I was a little more curious about the position, in which I wanted to find out more information about being a track worker. So I searched around and found http://www.nyctransitforums.com/forums/topic/11393-any-updates-on-track-worker-exam-5016/. Some of the posts I found very interesting from the 5016 thread were: -page 2, posts # 14 to 20 -page 3, post #24 -page 4, post # 38 and 40 (just to name a few, the thread is 15 pages long with one post on page 16). I have a question about the medical process, which I was hoping someone could help me out with: I initially took B/O exam 2613, and when it came time for the medical, the TA Physician put me on medical hold since she diagnosed me with muscle spasm in my legs. As a result, I was on medical hold for a good 3 weeks, since I had to see a neurologist, and getting an appointment was very hard. As a result, since I came back so late, even my second drug test expired as well, in which I had to take another one before final processing. My question is: When I go for my medical for Track Worker, I was planning on bringing a note, or letter, from the neurologist stating that my medical condition is under control, which I plan on obtaining after my first drug test. My question is, how old does the note, or letter, have to be for them to accept it? A couple of weeks? A couple of months? I tried calling MAC (Medical Assessment Center) about it today, and they did not give me a clear answer. Thanks in advance...
  8. The answer to this specific question is neither. However, based on the group of people that are called down to 180 Livingston Street, either a small number of people or a large number of people will fail out for some reason (drugs, criminal, driving records, etc.)
  9. Days 1 to 7 I had an instructor out of the Flatbush Depot who I really didn't like. I even wrote 2 letters to Mr. Irick, the VP for the Department of Buses about him. In the first letter I wrote, I mentioned how the Superintendent did not wear his seat belt when driving the bus, because of his weight. Mr Irick said to me that "appropriate action was taken", but I just hope the instructor got into trouble. Day 9 was not bad except I almost hit a pedestrian when servicing a bus stop. If it wasn't for that crazy person, I would've qualified. Day 10 was with 2 Superintendents, and one of them was my instructor from Days 1 to 7, which I'm not going to talk about. The 1 in 3 rule states that for every 3 people on the list, 1 will be automatically dropped for an unknown reason. Example: If 9 people are on a list, 3 will automatically get dropped, if 15 people are on a list, 5 will get dropped, etc. Now from the start this is not true and everyone will have a chance to go to 180 Livingston Street to take the first drug test. However, if people fail the drug test, or do not pass medical, etc., then the list will get smaller accordingly.
  10. Don't be nervous. In my opinion, here's why: a) If you do fail, I think the MTA will notify you if you "failed", especially if they have notified OA and Bus Company applicants in the past. b) From going through the hiring process with B/O exam 2613 (as a friendly reminder, my list # was 27* and I failed the 10-day training session), they are not just going to drop you from the list. Providing you passed the civil service and the BOSS exams, the MTA will give you a chance, or an opportunity, to come down to 180 Livingston Street to take a drug test, and if you pass, to go for medical, etc. I personally think that the "1-in-3" rule is b/s, especially for Bus Operators since a lot of them take promotions to T/O, retire, etc. Now, without mentioning any names, someone from the 2613 or 2301 thread had a criminal background and because of that, he went to 180 Livingston Street once, gave in all the necessary documents, and never heard back. Therefore, if you stay clean (both criminally and your driving record), you should be fine and NOT 'dropped' from the list.
  11. Well, from reading other threads, some people who took the BOSS for 3600 are also taking the BOSS for 4105...therefore, in my opinion, if you don't hear any negative feedback by the end of the year, you should be safe.
  12. That's ocrrect....the first BOSS I took was for 2301, and I got a letter in the mail a couple of weeks later saying that I didn't make it, compared to waiting for the list to come out.
  13. Keep in mind that just like for the B/O exam, Track Worker is only an entry-level position, and people can take promotions or move to other positions, which I'm going to let the Track workers elaborate on. In addition, I believe there are enough positions because for all of the 12,000+ people on the list, because not everyone will make it through the hiring process, since they will either fail the drug test, medical OR the 6-week training (3 weeks in a classroom, 3 on the road). Plus, some people change their minds as well. According to the mta.info web site: (http://web.mta.info/nyct/hr/3600.htm - 11/1/2014): LIST ESTABLISHMENT / NOTICE OF RESULTS: (UPDATED) The list for Track Worker has been made public effective October 22, 2014. All candidates should receive their official Notice of Results in early November 2014. When a list is made public, results are released but the list will not be used for hiring purposes for an additional 60 days. Please refer to the additional information sheet included with your Notice of Results on what numbers to call to check on list status. Based on this information,my educated guess is that within the next four [4] months the people towards the top of the list should hear something. Keep in mind that there was a promotional exam, so I have no clue what's going on with that. In addition, the list is only good for 4 years (maybe 4 & 1/2), and with 12,000 + people to go through, that is not a lot of time.
  14. According to http://web.mta.info/nyct/hr/archives/pdf/4600.pdf, I don't think so. However, they might give out extra credits for a veteran providing you told them when you filled out the on-line application to begin with. If you have any questions, email examsunit@nyct.com for more information, they would be the best ones to help you.
  15. Well first the HR Dept. has to finish up with the 3101 list for MaBSTOA. Once that is done, providing you passed the BOSS, they will call you down to 180 Livingston Street in the order of your random list number. The first step is the drug test (urinate in a cup), which only lasts 30 days. If the first one you take expires, then you'll be called in to take another one. After the drug test, you will be called in for medical. After that is final processing. After final processing, you will then be sent to Zerega for Orientation, followed by 7 days of training at a random depot within the 5 boroughs of NYC.
  16. We'll see what happens as time evolves...having NYC Transit call 200 people a month is just an estimated guess. If they go through more people per month, like 250 or 300, then the list will move faster. With the list being close to 12,500 people, the list will stay active for at least a few years. Keep in mind also that everyone will not be successful, since they will either fail the drug test, medical, the first part of the training in the classroom, the second part of training in the field, etc. Therefore, 200 to 300 people a month does not sound a lot like originally expected. In general, when a list expires, there is no official announcement.
  17. I honestly don't know, but the Track Worker 5016 thread (http://www.nyctransitforums.com/forums/topic/11393-any-updates-on-track-worker-exam-5016/) should help answer your question.
  18. So as of 10/27/14 (yesterday), this was posted at http://web.mta.info/nyct/hr/3600.htm: LIST ESTABLISHMENT / NOTICE OF RESULTS: (UPDATED) The list for Track Worker has been made public effective October 22, 2014. All candidates should receive their official Notice of Results in early November 2014. When a list is made public, results are released but the list will not be used for hiring purposes for an additional 60 days. Please refer to the additional information sheet included with your Notice of Results on what numbers to call to check on list status. Therefore, it looks like they won't be calling anyone until late December/early January. For me, I have a list # of 280* (which means my # is from 2800 to 2809), therefore if they go through 200 people a month, I won't be called for 14 months (2800 divided by 200 equals 14). If they go through 250 people a month, I won't get called for at least 11 months (since 250 x 11 = 2750, which is closer than 3000 [250 x 12]).
  19. I would give the mail a few more days...if you don't get anything by the end of this week, then email examsunit@nyct.com and they should be able to tell you what's going on.
  20. My suggestion: send an email to examsunit@nyct.com. Hopefully they will clear things up for you...
