  1. This is some really awesome stuff guys, I'm impressed! I spoke to the author of the subway tunnels a few days ago, and he was a bit shifty/ambiguous on whether or not I could release the tunnels, since I'm the only one that has the real working .ims/etc. Apparently he doesn't have them anymore?....I don't know. Anyway, I will have to think long about this because: 1) The textures/designs were based off BStyles' original betas I received last year. When we were divvying up the super pack, we gave responsibility for the tunnels to this creator. 2) I have the means to replicate all of the tunnels myself, and through my own hard work become "creator" of the tunnels, but why waste all that time? 3) If I were to release them, the original author would still get credit. It's still a matter of permission, and once my goes out, the issue of release will be a moot point anyway. Once homework is out of the way this weekend, I will see about getting the resumed in Brooklyn to their respective terminals. Once again guys, keep up the great work! -A
  2. It doesn't matter if it "doesn't look as good as some of the stuff on here". Patience and determination is what gets you really good looking models. BStyles and I still have the very first pictures of my attempts at a subway station last year---it was so atrocious it made Chambers St look beautiful by comparison. And if you thumb back through this thread, you can see the evolution of my subway signals--the first ones were "meh", but as I spent more time on them, they got better and better with input from forum members and BStyles himself. So, don't be afraid to post stuff up here, even if you may not think it's stellar. It's the first step in perfecting what you have in mind for a final product. Despite being a content creator almost exclusively now, I am still a huge fan of looking at what other people can come up with!:tup: -A
  3. I spoke to BStyles last month--he is on hiatus for personal reasons that I cannot disclose. When I hear from him again, I'll be sure to let everyone know. As for me, I recently started school again this semester, and I've been busy with that and work. Not to mention, I am working on completing the BART route for fellow user Rocky, who is a supervisor--they hope to use it in future online training for their TOs. This may be the beginning of a relationship with BART that turns into employment, so I'll have to put that first. I will not be including PATH stations, as it is a NYC subway route. As I'm on a "rotating" basis with my three current projects, NYCTA is next up to be revisited. I'll probably alternate between that and BART for the next several weeks to keep things fresh. Things aren't dead you guys--just a little busy! And I'd like to see others in the forum spice things up and contribute with their own route pics, etc! Step it up fellas! -A
  4. BART Updates---go check em out!

  5. They're still running. Right now, BStyles has taken a personal hiatus, so I don't know when he'll be back. As you can see, I referenced the kuid # of his el tracks, but even he told me that they were too poly heavy and he was going to try to get the count lowered (this is most evident with my 239 St Yard, which only shows up about 50% of the time). I am currently working on the BART route, which is being forwarded to two supervisors I know to be used (hopefully!) to help train their new TO's, so that is my priority right now. I'll look at trying to create some EL tracks in the meantime. If I cannot get them the way I'd like, I'll go ahead and release these stations as is.

  6. If you crack open the config, there should be a line (or two) dedicated to the sound. Simply remove that line--be careful though. If you happen to delete more than you need to, you could accidentally delete a bracket which will mess things up considerably. Robin_Hoods over on the Trainz Forum was nice enough to convert all of Magicland's cars to TS2010 specs for me. Seeing as the original author of those assets is no longer available for contact, I am not sure if it is within my legal authority to re-release them even if it was somewhere like MediaFire (seeing as MegaUpload has been seized by the Feds--seriously, not joking). I primarily work with TS09 because IMHO, it is more stable than '10 and isn't prone to crashing and doesn't have the layer system which makes things a lot easier for me. I will put in an inquiry over on the Trainz forum about re-releasing the 09 & up versions (which should also work with TC), and I'll let you guys know what the verdict is. -A
  7. The extension shouldn't be too hard, as the track plans are available in Peter Dougherty's book--same with the . I might be able to work those into future projects.
  8. Just NYCTA. SIRR really has never interested me, and combining the LIRR with my route would be major overkill. Some parts I will model, like Sunnyside yards and Woodside near the , and tiny portions near the connection, but that's about it. If I attempted an LIRR route, I'd need to read up on it first, since the track maps I already own. Thanks for the kind words---and like you, I don't like boring routes either, and I have been racking this ol' brain to come up with ways to make them passenger enabled. I will look into your idea--Sniper297 over on the Auran forums had a suggestion, if you pop on over there (it escapes me right now). Have you downloaded the Custom Station Kit? It has pillars, beams, walls, exits, platforms, etc where you can build your own station layouts without tracks, and then it'd be possible to input invisible stations. But strictly in terms of keeping things easy, I will take your idea under consideration. And, no, splines cannot be passenger enabled, or renameable or anything like that. It's a trade-off I weighed heavily before deciding to go with the 3-in-1 track-spline route for the stations. Oh, and the route mentioned above is obsolete for the time being, but not deleted, so I will comb through my photos and post some this weekend. Have a safe New Year! -A
  9. Just wanted to give a small update: finished in Manhattan, including both South Ferry loop stations (outer loop for the ends in bumper blocks where the loops "end" (the point where the line resumes double-track tunneling). So far the route is completed up to Boro Hall in Brooklyn. Should be getting the downtown area and Rogers Junctions done before the New Year, then signalling and signs. I'm holding off on the Bronx & lines until I receive betas of BStyles' newer low-poly tracks. I might just lay rulers down to make my life easier later on. Happy Holidays everyone! -A  (P.S. This post will be amended with some screenshots later on, so stay tuned!)
  10. Hey All--- The trackwork for the has been coming along slowly due to the holidays but I have finally made it down to Brooklyn Bridge, and the City Hall Loop. Tomorrow I shall break ground into Brooklyn. Also, major announcement, I'm upgrading the to include the and as well. In the Bronx, only the Jerome & Pelham branches need to be finished, and the branch to Utica Av. Enjoy these few pictures! express tracks descend north of 42 St 14 St-Union Square looking north Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall Loop And yeah, that is a custom station I built just for City Hall. And lastly, progress strip map: Happy Holidays, -A
  11. Yes it is, otherwise we'd have foamers creating their own lines and doing other scenarios that make no sense.
  12. It might be tricky, but here's what I would do: - service would run from 168-34 St/Penn weekdays only. There are layups south of the station to make this work with minimum disruption to the . - service would be rerouted over 8 Av between Queens Plaza and Jay Street. At this time, no service running in Manhattan or Queens. To prevent crowding on the Cranberry tubes this is why the ends at Penn. - extended up to 71 Av/Forest Hills to make up for the loss of the . - suspended until the Nassau St construction is complete. Resurrect the (Mx) to run along with the to Essex St. Shuttle buses will replace the lost Nassau St service. Late nights the (Mx) runs as the Myrtle shuttle with the being the sole Jamaica line. I think I covered everything? -A  P.S. Running the 6 Av locals over the WillyB would be an absolute nightmare.
  13. What about the ? If you're single tracking in the 53 St tubes, the has to go somewhere. What actually makes your single tracking idea work is that there are double crossovers at 23 St-Court Sq and east of Lex-53 St. Why would you need the to Jamaica? The could supplement the just fine the way it is--once it gets into Queen Plaza, it switches over to the express. A better idea would be to send the to 71-Continental to make up for the loss of the . -A
  14. So, you can adjust the shape to work with curved stations? Also, I am wondering if multi track splines works with invisible stations.
  15. Well, until Auran decides to make a way for invisible stations to be fitted into splines, this is as close as we're going to get for my stations having passenger capabilities unless a major breakthrough from studying the config files occurs to me or BStyles.
  16. Why yes, doors can be opened at stations that do not have invisible stations as evidenced below: This is at Dyre Avenue. Thanks to my buddy Angel for showing me this (and the subsequent rule)--I am still trying to solve the problem of no passengers at my stations (as they're splines)....but hey---(!)--now you can open doors at them, so it's a small victory for me, but a victory nonetheless! Here's the rule, and once installed, you'll had to add it to the list of driver commands while editing your session rules. There's no wait time for it, as I found out the dangerous anti-MTA way when I had a communication issue with my C/R who opened the doors while in a tunnel. Suffice it to say, he's toast. Passenger Door Control Enjoy! -A
  17. So, guys....obviously I couldn't stay away from building this route! It's actually been extremely fun tackling this challenging route. I used rulers and traced the entire winding route from E 180 St down Southern Blvd & Westchester Av to 149 St/Grand Concourse. Only stations are laid between 3 Av/149 & E 180. I completed the trackwork from 3 Av to Grand Concourse and completed both levels, and the connection between the and the . And yes---the does end in bumper blocks one full train length before the switches. Here are some pics to appease you guys this Sunday! Lower Level "storage" tracks. Redbird and R62-A "Special" train, which is actually a re-routed to E 180 St. Upper Level connections and R62-A trains. Enjoy! -A
  18. All three yards of the line are finished! Below are photos from the two toughest yards I'd ever done! East 180 St Yard: 239 St Yard: Going to be taking a few days' break to relax before resuming. Enjoy! -A
  19. See what happens when you ask nicely, and only once, and do not hound me and foam? I listen!:tup:B) Instead of going down to 149 St/GC like I originally intended, I decided to do the WPR instead, which is: a) easier trackwise, and B) allows me to do 239 St Yard, getting that giant monster out of the way. Below are some shots from E 180 to 241 St. E 180 Yard Exit (looking north) E 180 Yard Entrance (looking south) Unionport Yard Bronx Park East (Dyre on the left) Gun Hill Rd (looking south) Nereid Av (yard leads and flyover) 239 St Yard Leads 241 St & Interlocking Overall Progress: Now the next step is to lay signals and signs, and complete the two unfinished yards. Those updates will soon follow! Enjoy! -A  Late Afternoon Update: All signals, signs, and speed limits have been laid on the entire route built so far, including the E 180 St interlocking. E 180 St & 239 St Yard leads constructed, but not the yards proper. Tonight's menu consists of finishing both yards and trying to get down to 149 St/GC.
  20. Thanks for the kind words Lance. I realized last night while thumbing through my diagrams that in 1976, Unionport Yard didn't exist--but I have "Tracks of the New York Subway", 2010 edition by Peter Dougherty, so I think I'll be okay. Also guys, since the homeball numbers are going to be based on the '76 diagrams, they will be different than what we have today. Mostly on the IRT, since 95% of the A-Division has been updated to B-Division signals and numbers (X-318, instead of X-6B, etc). I know it isn't a big deal, but thought I'd clue you guys in. Also, if any of you have the 2011 version of Peter Dougherty's book, would you mind posting a picture/scan of the page that details the new E 180 St layout? I know they took out some double-slip switches and re-arranged things there, and the 2010 version still has the old configuration. I'm working on the line tonight down to Grand Concourse, so pics will be up tomorrow! -A
  21. I started the route this morning and have gotten from Dyre Av to Pelham Pkwy. The diagrams have really helped with signal and junction and station spacing (signalling isn't hard since the Dyre line has relatively few). Below are the screenshots and a new way to do the progress map. Rather than doing a full NYCTA map, I've decided to do a strip map. Every time a station is completed, a golden bubble will appear there until the full route is complete. It should also give some answers to exactly what I'll be building. Dyre Av Tailtracks: Crossovers before Dyre & 4 Track layout: Baychester Av looking north: Pelham Pkwy: And finally, the new way of detailing my progress: Enjoy! -A
  22. From above: "The first route I will release is the route, from 241 St & Dyre down to Flatbush Av" Not to sound rude, but ya peeps gotta read through the posts carefully before asking questions.
  23. Hello Gentlemen, As you know, I have been hard at work the last few months with NYCTA content, as you have seen my subway stations and official signals package released, along with the continued development of the Brighton assets, EL stations, etc. It's been a very busy time for me! Anyway, after speaking with my fellow developer BStyles on this matter, I have a major announcement to make regarding the future development of my NYCTA route. First and foremost, I have certain documents that will now help me create the entire NYCTA system very prototypically, right down to where the signals are placed. Doing this for the entire system is going to be a challenge, but one I welcome. Also, it will make the full system take longer to complete... ...which is why I am announcing that while I am working on the full system route, I will ALSO be developing singular routes for release just like BVE does. I am doing this because A) It will be a fun, new way to develop, and I think it's unfair to release all this content and have you wait on the full route. To be quite honest with everyone, I suspect a year or longer to get the whole system completed trackwise/signal-wise--that isn't counting time for scenery and the like. So, beginning now, I will release one singular NYCTA route at a time until all the routes are finished, even if the full system is done. It'll be a cool little development race for me to see which one is finished first, the 24 lines, or the full system. Anyone wanna make some predictions? Queens, Brooklyn and Manhattan got a significant amount of love from my first route attempt, so to appease all my Bronxites out there--the first route I will release is the route, from 241 St & Dyre down to Flatbush Av; 241/Wakefield is included because it's not THAT much of an extra effort to include one more station north of Nereid. Plus, this is the first route (and only one iirc) that will include three different yards in a single route: 239 St, E 180 St, and Unionport. Unlike in BVE, you have a choice of which tracks to take, but they really won't take you anywhere if you're trying to go somewhere that isn't part of the said route. For example, at 149 St/Grand Concourse, the takes a diverging route, going up and over the tracks in a sharp curve to connect to the Lexington line. If you want to go straight along the Lenox line tracks--you'll eventually just meet a bumper. Same is true for the South Ferry Loops, the Clark St connections (Boro Hall), and the Rogers Junction to the New Lots line. Also at 125 St, the portals to the Pelham line will end in bumper blocks. However, I will have the two layups south of Brooklyn Bridge, and the City Hall loop included. The future picture updates from me will be either from the route or new content I plan on releasing. I will be taking requests on what routes to do in the future, when the time comes, so please don't throw suggestions at me right now. There will be some updates to my content that I'll release in a few days--mostly fixes/additions to the Custom Station Pack, and some updates to the Subway Stations package [better textures and more efficient 6T stations]. All the best, -A
  24. Here is a picture of how the wall signals look when placed in-game. I'm finalizing the package right now--just a few more errors to fix and we're going to be set. This first cdp will be all of the wall, repeater, el, overhead, and normal signals. The rarer signals (2-2-1, 2-3-1, 9-head homes, etc) will be released in an add-on pack. I didn't want to make you all wait anymore to model them. Two things before the picture: 1) You need to delete all of the previous signals prior to installing the new pack, otherwise you'll get two of each signal showing up in the trackside objects tab. 2) Those tunnels are not my creation, and they are not on available on the DLS nor are they close to being released. The developer kindly lent them to me for testing. Enjoy! -A
