  1. Well, if they see on their system that a bus is skipping stops they can always decide to put in an extra bus. (also, about the copy your message thing: almost everywhere I post something, whether that is a forum or something else, I always copy what I typed before hitting send or post - just to prevent happening what you described: something errors or internet gets flakey and bye-bye message)
  2. The QM24 on Saturdays will never happen. rarely likes the idea of having express buses run only on Saturdays instead of the whole weekend.
  3. Well, I hadn't seen that video before so I'm glad Yuki posted it
  4. Q103 extension to the pier would be a feasible idea, agreed.
  5. My 2007 Motorola RAZR V6 Maxx can open the mobile website just fine even though the screen is small. Lots of people have a phone with at least a web browser these days.
  6. Damn, that is ridiculous! But unfortanetly, these things happen anywhere. Not much you can do about it...
  7. And here I thought from all the people on this forum that you d actually have a smartphone with an trip planner app... boy, seems I was wrong.
  8. You can use Google Drive, OpenOffice, LibreOffice, MS Office Web, ...
  9. Some bus routes did alternate, but only where possible or truly needed (I remember one road in Glen Cove being skipped due to the fact the road was too slippery even for cars!). But most of 'em stuck to the route and it's a good thing they did IMHO. Nothing is worse than having a long day followed by a long, slow trip through all of the snow only to find out the bus has skipped your stop...
  10. You can scratch that idea already. People would oppose to those BRT service lanes, like Brett said so it ain't gonna happen.
  11. You mean just like the R32 s? The RTSs are the R32s of the buses: hate by some because of their age, loved by some because of their age.
  12. At least be grateful that you have the option to open the windows on US buses. Most European buses don t have windows you can open...
  13. There is no volume control but there s a mute button in the software settings. Of course, if NICE or NJt disables that then there s no button. But by default there is.
  14. Some drivers get used to it (at least, that's what a few drivers said to me), others get annoyed by it and tend to mute the volume. So I guess it depends on the driver: some will like it, some will be hatin'.
  15. Doesn't matter that much. Even if they do sign in on Clever Devices, they can always mute the volume of the announcements.
  16. @theNICEbus: #NICEALERT Detour on the n43 north of Jerusalem Ave due to police activity. Expect delays. Stay tuned for more info. -- Sent from my TouchPad using Communities
  17. Interesting. But keep in mind that Veolia Environmental Services is not the same as Veolia Transportation. VES is doing stuff like controlling water works and, well, you know, that kind of environmental stuff (to be specific: water, waste, energy and transport). Nice catch, though, all the way out in Albany! (sorry if you already know this but sometimes people are confusing Veolia Transportation with VES, mostly outside of this forum but I do know Yuki did on here a few months ago)
  18. And you say that's people from Nassau and Suffolk? Sounds more like they're from the Breezy Point area.
  19. Yeah, they can scream all they want but no one is gonna use it anyway, hence why they scrapped it. I believe PinePower was the one who explained that in a bit more detail
  20. Yeah, I've also seen this near Sunrise Mall in one of Brett's videos. They had to wait 3 minutes to enter the mall because of a red light even though traffic on the road it was waiting on was very light but that traffic got green all the time... there was enough time to let one bus go through. Needs to be fixed. Yeah, for them it's very troublesome when there's no announcement being made. Esp. if you're not too familiar with the route or a detour is in place... But that'll always be a problem. Even if the announcement system is in place it may not always be on or the volume may be turned down by the b/o so that you barely hear the announcements. Been there, experienced all of that. Luckily, there are still good people like you in this world who helped him, good job Yuki! Agreed that there may not be enough ridership right now, but that isn't to say it's not gonna change. You don't always need high ridership levels to try something, sometimes you gain riders by trying something. In this case of bus lanes maybe not but in general: yes.
  21. I agree with you completely. But to be fair: Atlantic Terminal *was* actually renamed from Flatbush Ave only a couple of years ago. There are still signs of Flatbush Ave hanging on the ceiling lol. But yeah, I agree with you.
  22. I would vouch for Grand Central-44th St *IF* NYSubwayBuffs idea actually would make it through. But luckily it doesn t so I agree with this post of yours.
  23. I didn't say NICE is slow because I know it's not. It's just that when traffic gets heavy, esp. in rush hour, delays are bound to happen, sometimes very bad delays. And yes, I've experienced that more than once over here when I was in college 1,5 years ago, sometimes classes ended in rush hour making my inter-county bus get stuck in traffic (while I was already on-board). But N6 Limited might be right: bus lanes are not always the answer. I just thought to give it a spin, I wanted to know what others their opinion on my idea was
  24. On Northern Blvd it would help during rush hours. Sure, it may impact traffic a bit. But that should be reason for them to use the bus along Northern But how come Hillside Ave has bus lanes? ( I mean, aside from the congestion, but I've hardly seen any non-SBS bus lanes in NYC, thus my question)
