  1. 5872 at 126th with stickers on it. I will confirm if it is a transfer or loaner later
  2. The old ENY Base Shop that was abandoned by TA when Grand Ave opened, is serving as the CMF for MTA Bus. They do almost everything that Grand ave does.
  3. The orange flags have a higher melting temperature than the yellow had.
  4. Because they kept melting, even if they were installed on the right bus. The finally got smart and got rid of the yellow. Now if the flags melt, we know that there is a real problem.
  5. The loose lug nut indicators, or "flags", do exactly what the name says. They inform drivers and maintenance when a wheel lug has loosened prematurely. They are installed on a wheel after a bus has traveled at least 100 miles and after the lug nuts are re-torqued. There use to be 2 different colors (yellow and orange). The yellow flags were for S-cam brake systems in which the wheel temperature did get as high as the wedge brake systems. Orange was for wedge brake systems and on some buses, the drive axle.
  6. It was designed like that from the beginning. As long as we are fighting each other over stupid union politics, we are not banding together fighting "the man".
  7. Zerega must be really backed up for them to have sourced that out. I've watched them fix way worse. With grand ave, its understandable because they don't have a parking lot and there is only 1 accident repair bay.
  8. Most likely. They are probably painting the lines for the lifts and the parking area
  9. I don't know about you personally, but I feel that the kids in this younger generation (high school age) have a false sense on entitlement. They want the world without having to work for it...
  10. Maybe the first batch of new LFS's will be spread around Manhattan.
  11. The 59xx's at 126th are currently being wrapped for SBS service BTW
  12. No disrespect to your uncle, but bus drivers are not always the best source of information. Its like a huge game of telephone with them. 1 of them might have the correct information at first. But by the time it filters down to the rest of the operators, its a completely different story.
  13. The C40's that we have are from a tried and true design. I believe not a lot has changed in the suspension geometry or the structure of the bus since it was first manufactured. Similar to the situation with the RTS and its longevity through the years.
  14. is that the bus I seen covered by a tarp when I was at quill yesterday? Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  15. 5513 126 > JFK...and after 3 years on the shelf, 1258 is back in the building
  16. Well the plan is to close 126 as MCH opens. And 126th is owned by the MTA
  17. I was told by the VP of TWU Local 100 TA Surface that the depot will not be rebuilt Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  18. there will be no new depot. They will send the inhabitants of 126th to either MCH when it reopens, or they will send them to 100 street. 100 street will be sent to MCH in the latter scenario. There will be a luxury condominium building erected where the depot stands. The lot across the street is suppose to become some kind of cultural center. And I don't know what will happen with the lot across from the car dealership. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  19. both lots are already sold, as is the land that the depot stands on Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  20. I had suspicion that it would be renamed once it was rebuilt. But that was when I still believed the depot would be rebuilt Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  21. So.....once 126th closes, that it. No more 126 street depot, just found this out a couple hours ago
