  1. When did those moves to 126th happen? I didn't see them last night...and it might be just for work. We've received buses from JFK just for work before
  2. 6372 just crashed into a store on 155th and Broadway...
  3. Its not on the bus itself. Only the quick connect air fittings are on the buses. The instructor's trolley brake lever stays with the instructor. They clamp it to the first curb side stanchion. The quick connect fittings are usually mounted in a small locked box under the first bench seat on the the curb side of an RTS. In the NGs, they are usually mounted to the drivers side of the firebox, behind the drivers partition door. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  4. Training buses are not selected at random. The buses used for training are specifically set up with a trolley brake connection in the front. This is so the instructor can stop the bus when he/she needs to.
  5. Probably so that the buses will be a little more reliable when the Q10 goes "all artic"
  6. The balance shaft probably needs to be changed...
  7. Yes, MCH was always OA. But they were suppose to send 126th there when they decide to close the depot.
  8. The rumor mill is buzzing again...ever since that story came out in the post about 126th depot being closed down, more and more people have been talking about us. The latest rumor (I really heard this last year) is that OA will give up 100st (Tuskegee) to 126th, in order to be able to take the brand new MCH...
  9. There is a different department that handles the repairs on the destination signs (CES). they are dispatched as they are needed and are not based on any depot property. Destination sign is a big problem, but it will not keep the bus from rolling out the door (as long as a pen, paper and tape are available.)
  10. Bankruptcy I believe Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  11. Not really that fictional. Millennium Transit was suppose to produce 90 new RTS buses for the MTA as a test fleet a few years ago. They were suppose to make 2 models, a high floor (for express use) and a low floor (local use). Both T-drive with cummins engines. If believe either Donate or Trevor photo shopped an image of one of the newer RTS's into the MTA's (new at the time) livery. It looked similar to your bus.
  12. Why were the stantion straps cut out of all of the LFSA's but not the XD60's??
  13. True...there is a place in long island that they have been sending the 49xx and 5xxx RTS's to have the undercarriage sand blasted...
  14. No, the WiFi is for IVN (intelligent vehicle network installed on evry bus from 2004 and up) to connect to the clever device when the bus pulls into the depot fuel station and anytime someone at the command center wants to see the inside the bus (when the bus is fitted with cameras).
  15. But the Nova's have way less electrical problems, that why they have the larger portion of the order.
  16. True. I believe that you can get to any subway platform or multiple platforms on 1 fare. This is not true for bus stops, depots, or all around popular shooting destinations.
  17. Does this mean your are going to change your name back to "lilGIjoe"?
  18. Repurposing an old bus into a snow fighter? That's a stretch. They barely do anything at the truck shop anymore above changing tires and light bulbs. Now if they paid someone to do it, it would get done. But they are not gonna pay someone to do work on a bus that is being retired. Although, I would like to see the MTA try out something that was on 1 of these forums about a year and a half ago. There's a company called complete coach works (CCW) and they completely overhaul buses. They also retrofit them with completely electric drivetrains. If the MTA were to institute an overhaul program to bring scrap buses back from the dead (instead of just keeping them around for longer than they should) I would be all for it.
  19. I use MTA Tracker+. Its pretty good, it gives actual bus numbers in real time
  20. Most of the OG's are getting or have received engine swaps as part of their overhaul program
  21. I rode it unwrapped in the bx22 about a month and a half ago. But I could have sworn I saw it mentioned already in 1 of these threads so I didn't say anything at the time...
