  1. It's been a little less than 2 month's, maybe it's performance on the street is not meeting expectations.
  2. it's at zerega. It got here on Tuesday. It only use to come back every couple of days to charge, but I think that it's getting ready to go back to BYD. the farebox was removed...
  3. They are not going to affect bus ridership at all. Car service taxi's have been accepting street hails for longer than I can remember. It's just legal for some of them to do so now...
  4. no, they only own College Point and either spring creek or baisley park, I always forget which 1.
  5. if you were 6'2" standing in the rear section of that bus, I don't think you would like the amount of space on that bus.
  6. Amsterdam Depot, East New York, Quill, Zerega, Stengel, and Fresh Pond.
  7. theres 2 of them at zerega waiting to get the chop. The 3rd 1 got axed last night.
  8. if they are OA or TA they do. If they are MTAB they can only technically ride MTAB routes.
  9. to try and delay the inevitable. They try to convince the road dispatchers that they need to take the bus back to the depot and get another bus...
  10. Most of the time the drivers do it themselves. Like with any of the buses that have the sensor to open the rear doors in place of the touch tape. Drivers will cover the sensor with tape so when someone is standing in the rear doorway, the "please move away from the doors" message is not constantly playing.
  11. since when do MTA buses go through DOT inspection? I know TA and OA buses are exempt from DOT inspection. Maybe it is an MTAB thing...
  12. I know that all off the original 10xx and 11xx were originally air starter equipped...
  13. I would be surprised if they did. I thought that the only buses left that weren't converted from air starters were the 1996 RTS's (87xx - 92xx) Isn't that thing harry put up from the early 2000's?
  14. TA and OA buses don't usually go to MTAB facilities to get worked on. And being that it was going there from Zerega, I thought that there's nothing that they can do there that we can't do here. I was wrong...We don't have the correct stationary saftey stands or adapters to do heavy work on the bus. And since 1217 is the pilot bus for the 4 year overhaul program that the 12xx series LFSA's are going to be put through next year, it needs HSO work done to it. So, yes it went to MTAB CMF to be worked on.
  15. 1217 headed towards ENY depot. Since they are renovating that depot to be able to handle artics, I would guess that they need 1217 for clearance testing...
  16. Silver base with a blue stripe looks way better than the current scheme...just a thought Untitled by blitz2.0, on Flickr
  17. I would think that because this bus is fully electric, the company would want to test it on longer routes. This way, they can get the full nyc expierence (stop and go traffic, slow crawling average speeds, extremely uneven and bumpy roads, hills, huge potholes, cabbies cutting you off for fun, etc...). They can then determine if the "155 mile range in the urban environment" is a reality.
  18. no its a 40 footer. I thought it was 35ft as well when I saw it from far away. It looks like that because the rear overhang is about as long as the overhang on an MCI would be if it didn't have the tag axle. ***random question*** I've noticed that the quality of the pictures that I upload from my phone's 13 mega pixel camera, decreases heavily when they appear in these forums. Is it a problem with flickr or does it have something to do with the forum?
  19. This should only be a demo, so it will most likely only get a couple of MTA decals. It will probably shadow a couple routes around Manhatten for a week or so, and then be on it's way to the next TA.
