FamousNYLover Posted December 7, 2009 Share #1 Posted December 7, 2009 I was wondering where and what time is good for fan trip for everyone? 1. Weekends. 2. When both public/private schools are closed. Like Spring Recess, Summer. 3. What time is good time for everyone. Around 8am, 9am, 10am? After I get answer, I put my future idea here. R32 3348 Posted December 7, 2009 Share #2 Posted December 7, 2009 You should make it when there is a break from school (Winter break is coming up, starting December 24th until January 3rd), like during the weekend. Also, 10AM would be more feasible for most since many do not want to get up at 6AM like on a regular school day, just to make it to a fan trip. I plan to do Spring Recess and Summer Vaction, well as Dec. 27th Sunday. Maybe January might be good.

R32 3348 Posted December 8, 2009 Share #11 Posted December 8, 2009 December 19th is still two weeks away. Are you taking medicine 3-4 times a day? That way you'll feel better much much faster.

SoSpectacular Posted December 8, 2009 Share #13 Posted December 8, 2009 A good day for fanning buses is... A time of day where there isn't that many people out and you'll have lots of peace with recording sound samples!
RokuSix Posted December 8, 2009 Share #14 Posted December 8, 2009 I think summer is the best time for railfanning. Public schools, private schools, and colleges are all done.
SoSpectacular Posted December 8, 2009 Share #15 Posted December 8, 2009 Bleh, the summer isn't all that great because the A/C gets in the way of everything sometimes, better find a bus with the A/C off!

Oh man, especially for the ZFs, you need that AC OFF! Then is when you REALLY hear those beasts take off!
PATCOman Posted December 8, 2009 Share #18 Posted December 8, 2009 I recommend you read this thread: http://www.nyctransitforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11486. That thread should be stickied. As for the bus engines, back in the day when I busfanned, it was a treat to hear those Bee-Line Flxibles in the fall or spring when the a/c was not on. Since Green Lines and Triboro's a/c's hardly worked, I usually busfanned them any time of year.
