FamousNYLover Posted December 8, 2010 #1 Posted December 8, 2010 I wonder when will updated Braille on Platform Column and Station Entrances? Many brailles still has sign , , old (Mx) signs. I wonder if any blind people ever get confuse with these signs?
Eastman346 Posted December 8, 2010 #2 Posted December 8, 2010 I wonder if any blind people ever get confuse with these signs? I would guess that the blind don't see them anyway. It could confuse the partially blind folks.
BroadwayBuffer Posted December 9, 2010 #3 Posted December 9, 2010 That always seems to take a while to update, probably because very few rely on it, even the blind. They updated everything at the Lawrence St platform in preparation for the connection, including the braille signs. So I guess they'll take an initiative to get things right if it involves a ribbon-cutting.
Fresh Pond Posted December 9, 2010 #4 Posted December 9, 2010 In some places its updated already. At Lex-53 St on the platform it has the new ones. But OTOH, at Nostrand Av on the manhattan-bound platform, it still says Manhattan & the Bronx in some places and that hasn't happened in over 15 years
IRT Bronx Express Posted December 9, 2010 #5 Posted December 9, 2010 at Nostrand Av on the manhattan-bound platform, it still says Manhattan & the Bronx in some places and that hasn't happened in over 15 yearsYou mean when the used to go to Bedford Park before March 1998?
Fresh Pond Posted December 9, 2010 #6 Posted December 9, 2010 You mean when the used to go to Bedford Park before March 1998? It went there in the 80's back when they had the and when the itself went 145 St & Bedford Pk Blvd. Also at that time, the ( went to 168 St. Then, they switched terminals in the 90s to the current pattern and the was discontinued
Art Vandelay Posted December 12, 2010 #7 Posted December 12, 2010 If I am not mistaken, 168 still advertizes the transfer between the 1/9 and the A/B. If I am mistaken, it did until recently.
rr4567 Posted December 12, 2010 #8 Posted December 12, 2010 I see new ones at that new "Jay Street" station.
