The City of Baltimore is replacing their fleet of already worn out Olymbus Hybrids with VanHools. The Circulator is down to 5 Designline buses in operation. They are expected to be replaced very soon. Here is a video of 0913, probably the last Designline Olymbus built in America:

What exactly is happening with the DesignLines?

The company itself is having a hard time getting money to built and buy parts to complete orders. The buses that were already completed are having issues with the turbine system and countless other problems. Multiple orders have been cancelled recently including NYCTA and Charlotte. That's why I believe this may be the last American built designline bus.

As mush as I feel bad for Designline, them trying to push out a new hybrid technology hasn't been as well-received as they expected...

Yup, it's a wrap for designline!

Is it a fault in the bus or in its anemic Capstone turbine?

Perhaps Designline could save the design with a better turbine from another manufacturer?

Charlotte's have been cancelled also Disney cancelled an order a year or two back

Got a chance to ride the CCC VanHools and they are pretty nice.
