Roadcruiser1 Posted April 19, 2011 Share #2 Posted April 19, 2011 Nope. From recent threads it's going to be converted into an R188, and it's going to be brought into service on the No. line.

mtattrain Posted April 19, 2011 Share #4 Posted April 19, 2011 Not service, most likely be in testing. True... the R188s won't even be in-service until 2012 or 2015.
Vistausss Posted April 19, 2011 Share #5 Posted April 19, 2011 Eh, East New York has close information on this and he said that the 1st R188 is expected to go in service by the end of the year (yes, 2011).

Why would the R188 be the first NTT to go directly into service? They must at least be tested once, if i am correct.
Grand Concourse Posted April 20, 2011 Share #7 Posted April 20, 2011 You misread what he said. The first train would go into service by the end of the year, Nothing about it being the "first NTT to go into service". Basically the R188s ARE R142As [+1 extra car], so it's essentially a 'revamped' R142A and should not require additional testing.
Nova RTS 9147 Posted April 20, 2011 Share #8 Posted April 20, 2011 Why would the R188 be the first NTT to go directly into service? They must at least be tested once, if i am correct. The cars currently at Yonkers are the CBTC prototype cars, so they will be the cars to test first out of service and then in service.
