Bx23 service changes

Recommended Posts

Bx23 now has 2 extra trips going 5-4-3-2-1 7 days a week

12:30am, 1:00am

Bx23/Q50 is actually getting better than the old QBx1 in most ways (with the exception of the later last weekday bus of the QBx1 and the earlier weekday first bus of the QBx1)

QBx1 evening 1-2-3-4-5 from Pelham Bay

9:00, 9:20, 9:45, 10:15, 10:45, 11:15, 11:45, 12:15, 12:40, 1:05, 1:35*

* - ran weekdays only (early Tuesday - early Saturday)

Bx23/Q50 evening 1-2-3-4-5 from Pelham Bay

8:55, 9:15, 9:25, 9:45, 10:15, 10:25, 10:45, 11:15, 11:25, 11:45, 12:25, 1:20

QBx1 evening 5-4-3-2-1 from Pelham Bay

9:10, 9:40, 10:10, 10:40, 11:10, 11:40, 12:10

Bx23 evening 5-4-3-2-1 from Pelham Bay

9:00, 9:30, 10:00, 10:30, 11:00, 11:30, 12:00, 12:30, 1:00

Good to hear. As I said either the BX23, or (Q50) should have at least 30-minute overnight headways 24/7 between all of COOP and the Pelham Bay Terminal.

This is definitely great for Co-Op city residents.

A more cynical view is that the (MTA) is simply re-adding the late evening service they removed when the Bx23/Q50 were first split from the QBx1.

And now that Shortline Bus mentioned it, why doesn't the (MTA) add 24-hour service to the Bx23?

- It would finally give Co-Op City more than one bus line overnight (not counting the Bx12)

- Potential overtime for night owl bus operators

- The city foots the bill

Bx23 late night runs sounds good, at least on paper...

Gotta admit, the (Bx28) does need help overnights

Yeah but only to about 1AM. Then its all Bx28.. Its sad that there is no late night buses that will link Co-Op city to Pelham Bay.. The Bx12 doesn't run that late to Bay Plaza. (after 1 or 2am)

Just checked timetable, got it. But still.. This could only be for the summer only........... The Map bus info shows after 1am it doesn't run to Bartow:

(Jan 2011)

Timetable (Summer) which now shows late night service to Co-op City lower:

(Failed with Bay Plaza in Brooklyn in front cover)
