I have to agree with you and will stick by you when you say that this is de-valuing (sp?) marriage. I don't see how granting gays equal rights in New York prompts Mexico (which, by the way, is far more conservative than we are) to sell temp marriage licenses. In all honesty opening up marriage to people of all kinds adds value to it by making it a universal expression of love and commitment versus a religious ritual carried over into the civic world for lack of an appropriate secular analogue...
