Why hasn't the (Bx5) gone back on Bruckner Boulevard yet. MTA response: Although the Bx5 also serves Crosby Avenue, customers of this route do not originate from the same neighborhoods of the Bx8. Crosby Avenue is a highly active commercial and retail corridor which would benefit from the services of two bus routes.
checkmatechamp13 Posted January 6, 2012 Share #3 Posted January 6, 2012 I'm too tired to look at their "evaluation of the service reductions", but I'm pretty sure sending the Bx5 via Crosby Avenue resulted in a decrease in cost-efficiency and a decrease in ridership, so you would think they would just put it back on Bruckner. mark1447 Posted January 6, 2012 Share #4 Posted January 6, 2012 Well, I guess the alternative to getting on Bruckner Blvd would be ether the Bx24 (Up to Country Club Rd) or Q50 via Limited. I think the Q50 could use an extra stop or so along Bruckner.

Why hasn't the gone back on Bruckner Boulevard yet. ....b/c they don't want buses running along that stint like that, hardly serving much of anyone.... That bull' the MTA spewed in that statement GreatOne posted, is just that.... - "customers do not originate from the same neighborhoods of the Bx8" Going on this logic/reasoning, do you know how many routes that alone would justify being extended ANYWHERE..... - "Crosby Avenue is a highly active commercial and retail corridor which would benefit from the services of two bus routes." 100% Embellishment ! Before they moved Bx5's along it, the Bx8 riders that (still) embark/disembark along crosby (sans westchester av, where it turns on/off, right where the station is) are residents of the area.... No way in the hell it's because crosby's this "highly active commercial" area.... what a crock of BS....
