Whats the point of the second express track on the Sea Beach Line, and that one track on 42nd st?

The Sea Beach Line used to have four functioning tracks with the outer two tracks for local service and two inner tracks for super express service, The idea NX express failed because not much people want to have to get to Coney Island in the super fast way except in the summer time and that was brought to an end. It also failed because it didn't stop at stations with high ridership so it usually landed in Coney Island nearly empty. So it ended.

For Times Square at one point the northern section of the Lexington Avenue Line didn't exist and neither did the southern part of the Seventh Avenue Line. After those two were completed the connection between them ended and the Times Square area reverted to a shuttle line which you see today.

Take a look at this track map: Notice the Kings Highway station is drawn as an island platform station.

What time period was this from? I doubt Kings Highway had an express station layout at any point in time in Sea Beach's history.

Not that there is a need for express service on Sea Beach, but they could build a platform over one of the express tracks and have only one active express track. Build 1 at Kings Highway and New Ut for better spacing of stops. Platforms would only be accessible by stairs connected to overpasses and would not allow for direct across the platform transfers for the local.
