The A Super Express Train

East New York

I'll let you know my purest thoughts:

Any kind of extension from Lefferts southward = fiction.

There is an overpass being built to the racetrack station, I suspect once that is done, rehab of the station would then begin. A southbound plat being built over the existing track 3 isn't a matter of if, but when and who's exactly paying for it (probable). The Aqueduct - N Conduit station may actually lose the Aqueduct part of the name, just like the racetrack part of the name might be dropped.

There will not be any new regular services terminating at the Racetrack. It will be treated similarly to baseball specials that serve Yankee Stadium and Citi Fields, whenever there be a major event, extra trains will be run there. Track 4 might be rehabbed so these specials can terminate there, but as far as regular service, no. It's not like the venue needs regular service around the clock, just like the stadiums don't need around the clock special service, either. Just a side note: The Mets and Yankees pay for the specials. For there to be specials to Aqueduct, Genting or whoever eventually owns the entire complex would have to pay for those, too.

And Genting in my opinion may be perfectly willing to pay for extra service.

One thing I do see happening between now and if/when the Convention Center is built at Aqueduct, is that for Genting, it may prove cheaper to buy the land on the other side of the train tracks and use that land to build most of the Convention Center facility while maybe using one of the parking lots at Aqueduct (between the clubhouse and mile chute) to build some but keep the racetrack in place. I can see that happening because it may be cheaper (and quicker) to do that than to first either winterize Belmont Park (which likely would have to be done for at a great cost) or build a new, winterized grandstand and wagering facility where the training track at Belmont currently is (so the current training track could be used for winter racing) OR build an entirely new facility to replace Aqueduct for NYRA.

I suspect it will over time prove cheaper to keep the current track in place, buy the land (including homes) to build the most of the convention center on the other side of the train tracks and build bridges to connect the convention center to the racetrack/casino. That to me is more likely to happen. Either winterizing Belmont or building new facilities for NYRA if the convention center is built at Aqueduct is why I see it being done on the other side of the tracks to keep costs down.

I thought it was supposed to be on the Howard Beach side of the Belt with all that extra room, to allow for further expansion of Aqueduct along with a more direct connection to Howard Beach and AirTrain. And yes, they will pay for the "specials". Regular service there at all hours is another story. Ill give a classic example... the Auto Show that comes in every April.

During the day there's "sufficient" service out there to not warrant specials, especially during rush hour. On show weekends when its only every 20 minutes, then there could be specials going there.

For the record, they are not going to buy the land on the western side of the tracks (an eminent domain buyout) when there's plenty on the other side. You underestimate the amount of land needed for that.

An idea...

This (A) super express could only run on racing days, to Racetrack. Turn on the express tracks at JFK to turn back around.

Some (A)'s will be sent via Fulton Local to help out passengers on the (C) heading to express stations to get the (A) to the track.

The (A) express will do skip-stop, skipping every other express station.

No. Why shaft regular (A) riders with this stupid super express nonsense? The only thing that should happen is a few extra (A) trains to Howard Beach, otherwise the (A)(C) should both be left alone. Everyone here in favor of the super express are overstating the possible increase of usage because of this racino-convention center.

I agree here, this super express stuff is completely pointless. I can see why some people hate the run between Aqueaduct and Rockaway Boulevard but that is it.
