EliteOperator81 Posted June 26, 2012 Share #1 Posted June 26, 2012 I heard something, I just need to know if it's true or not I have a long time to go till I retire about 17 years to go But I heard when you retire from MTAB they take your pass away unlike T.A. Which they get the red pass for life Is there anyone who can shed light on this?
Snowblock Posted June 26, 2012 Share #2 Posted June 26, 2012 Even at NYCT you need to renew your pass every 2 years after you retire. So if you move away, you better make it to NYC every other year (and I've heard stories of people flying in JUST to get their pass renewed). Will-Bx-718 Posted June 26, 2012 Share #3 Posted June 26, 2012 It wouldn't surprise me if they didn't give MTA Bus company pensioners passes for life. They're so gung ho on making them feel like second class employees anyway.
paulrivera Posted June 26, 2012 Share #4 Posted June 26, 2012 Huh? Flying in from somewhere else to renew your pass? Thats a real headscratcher...
RTOMan Posted June 26, 2012 Share #5 Posted June 26, 2012 Huh? Flying in from somewhere else to renew your pass? Thats a real headscratcher... Its Procedure you dont do it then you lose yer pass. What would you do?
paulrivera Posted June 27, 2012 Share #6 Posted June 27, 2012 If I dont live remotely close to or otherwise visit the place where I can use my pass, I'd probably let it lapse. Unless something else is involved here...
Snowblock Posted June 27, 2012 Share #7 Posted June 27, 2012 Try working here 25+ years and then tell us again that you're willing to give up your pass.
paulrivera Posted June 27, 2012 Share #8 Posted June 27, 2012 This might be an uninformed opinion, but as an outsider, I don't see the appeal if you live so far away and you dont even visit the NYC area. I am on the list for C/R, and a lot of things can happen in 25 years, so let's see where the stars align...
RTOMan Posted June 27, 2012 Share #9 Posted June 27, 2012 So then wait till you get down here work your time then if this place is still around let us know. That sounds about right yes?
Snowblock Posted June 27, 2012 Share #10 Posted June 27, 2012 If you don't work here, you don't know anything about how this place works. That goes for ALL of you.

Will-Bx-718 Posted July 2, 2012 Share #12 Posted July 2, 2012 Yeah I'd be damned if I'm gonna work here for 25+ years and give up one of my hard worked for retirement benefits.
Noflexdont Posted July 3, 2012 Share #13 Posted July 3, 2012 When i was laid off due to the budget cuts and they took my pass i was so upset that i had to pay the fare. I guess it a sense of entitlement. no worries people i did not beat the fare and the operator asked my why i paid ( he seen me in the depot a few time) I told him it the right thing to do.
