mtattrain Posted August 16, 2013 Share #26 Posted August 16, 2013 Based on the picures of nycsubway, org the cars from Fresh Pond are listed in their arrangment; 3371-3370-3787-3786-3630-3631-3836-3837 3370-3371 and 3786-3787 have been reactivated and are prepping for service, but 3630-3631 and 3836-3837 are still OOS. Couldn't the MTA scrap the 8 R42s at 207 (4550, 4551, 4616, 4617, 4620, 4621, 4784, 4785 or the two out of service R42s 4824, 4825) or the remaining R44s (5282, 5286, 5287, 5288, 5289) instead of 9400-9401 I saw 4784-4785 at SIMS Metal recently, and 5282 was destroyed and scrapped at 135th St. on the in 1997 lol. Also, think 4824-4825 are still in service too, but they just keep 2 cars out of service every time, since out of 50 cars, you can only make up 6 8-car trains, which uses 48 of the 50 cars. R32 3838 Posted August 17, 2013 Share #29 Posted August 17, 2013 3350/1 are safe, 3720/21 are done for, that pair been OOS since 2008 9584-85 (along with 7924-24, 8678-79) were long used as motive power for adhesion train during autumn months. Depends what motive power will be used starting this year. Also: any more Single Unit WF R33s slated to be axed? If NYCT really wants to get rid of the R33s, the simplest and most logical idea would be to add an option of several additional sets to the R188 order, which would allow the remaining single unit R62As to be converted to work motor service, and replacing the R33 fleet. By 2016, when the R188 order is complete, the R62As will already be 30. In the B division the R32s replaced the ones at 38th St yard, they can use the TOMC R33s as work motors as well

mtattrain Posted August 18, 2013 Share #34 Posted August 18, 2013 The 40 slants are scrap. Except for 4280-4281, that is.
R36 Preservation Posted August 18, 2013 Share #35 Posted August 18, 2013 Except for 4280-4281, that is. And 4461 (ex-4260, rebuilt from R40M 4461), FDNY (off property at Randalls Island). Looks like last three slanted R40s to survive.
