R1Toasty 0 Posted October 2, 2008 Share #3 Posted October 2, 2008 In the next 5-10 years I can see the subway being pretty much all NTTs, or at least trains with no RFW (maybe a few on the because some R62s have RFWs) seeing as the R44, R46, R62, and R68 will still be around. The stations should be much cleaner and the MTA should have finally finished installing the train arrival time boards. The will open and the will become less crowded. Perhaps we'll see arrivals of the R179 in the next couple years, so that will be a plus, I suppose. Of course, not to leave out the most important thing... I should be a CR by then. Joe 781 Posted October 2, 2008 Share #4 Posted October 2, 2008 If the Second Avenue Line actually opens up (in any capacity, just the north-of-63rd street would be enough), i'd be pretty darn surprised.

metsfan 2 Posted October 3, 2008 Share #9 Posted October 3, 2008 I can see all of the R3x and older R4x trains being 100% retired. I can see some lines being expanded. I can see proposals for new lines possibly connected to light rail systems. I will miss south ferry, and times square being the terminal for the . All of the elevated lines will have had new paint (i hope) and perhaps have heaters for use on cold days. The submerged lines should have a system to mitigate the heat from the stations, or even use it somehow to power the lights or something. I can see trackage being replaced on 60% of the system, and signals being upgraded on the . There will be a new line in the bronx connecting the terminals there. There will be a new crosstown line in queens and brooklyn linking the terminals there. I will finally be able to afford an unlimited monthly card. Most of these are 10-15 years out, but whatever. - A
