Yes, it is allowed, entering the cab is not. I have been in cabs 6 times on R68/R142/R160. There are some for the R160 on nycsubway.org:

R142:

Those are all I have seen on that site. I had a blurry pic of an R68 in one of the threads here too.

Hope this helps. ;)

I have a shot or 2 from this summer somwhere in files From a trip on #6 when I went on a tour of city hall station. They actualy let me operate the train from current city hall station to former old station I olnly got it to 15 mph then at the flashing yellow I had to go to 6 mph it was definitely different though I felt a like a tool afterwards :-)

I don't think he is a TA employee. Sounds like someone did a no-no.

I wouldn't even go that far, I wouldn't even assume the story is true.

Why would an NYCTA employee, at a City Hall tour (big railfan event, i'd say) just let someone else operate a train? Let me go up to the T/O on the E today and ask him if I can take it for a spin.;)

If you are talking about the video it's not mine. It's somebody's from bvestation.

And when I got into a cab, it was at night and for 10 secs, so the t/o is careful of what he does.

As for that other person, he let you operate a train? Put yourself in the operator's shoes. Do you think you would risk so bad, that you could get fired on the spot!

I wouldn't go around posting that / telling people if I were you...

I also wouldn't go posting those pictures...

Yeah, I'm gonna hit up the (:) today to get a chance to operate the R40 before it goes away =)

I'll hit up the A train after work for that R42. I'm sure the T/O will have no problem. He sees me everyday.

Like SubwayGuy Stated, I wouldn't go around spilling the beans about that.....
