  1. NEXT: Because of a 12-9, the uptown local track at 47-50 Sts is unusable.
  2. suspended uptown trains stop on the express track at W 4 St Metropolitan Av - Essex St uptown trains run via 6 Av express from W 4 St to 59 St uptown runs express from Canal St to 34 St
  3. Nah, don't bother with any of this. If you don't want to answer any more questions about this kind of thing, I'm okay with that. If I REALLY want to figure out things like this, I can do so myself. I didn't mean to annoy you guys.
  4. terminates at 2 Av terminates at Bay Pkwy terminates at Av X terminates at 86 St, using the switches north of Coney Island terminates at Ocean Pkwy
  5. Good, except having the all on one track = delays.
  6. Or, I've got another idea: - keeps the extra R62As - gives extra R142As to the - gives extra R142s to the Whichever of these ideas happen, the would get extra cars.
  7. I refuse to solve something this complicated! Anyway, here's another scenario: Because of a bomb thread, President St is impassible Due to a derailment, the South Ferry loop is unusable Due to a broken rail, the uptown local track at Brooklyn Bridge is unusable
  8. Okay, so let's say that Westchester yard takes 20 extra R62As like you said. Then, there are only 3 more trains of R62As left over. I really don't think it's worth making Jerome Av yard maintain a whole separate type of car just for 3 trains. My prediction is that those trains should go to the or line, whose yards already have SMEEs.
  9. Wait a second...You said that the will be giving up 380 cars, and the will be giving up 431 cars, right? That leaves 51 cars, not 71.
  10. Additionally, shouldn't the need more than 380 R62As because of their increased spare factor over the R142As?
  11. How did I know this was coming? If you send the to 145 St, it'll have to merge with the , , , , and trains. Sounds like DELAYS. NEXT: Because Wallyhorse took over the MTA and sent the train to 145 St, several CPW riders fainted and fell on the tracks upon seeing such a shocking sight. The entire CPW line between 125 St and 59 St is unusable.
  12. That's interesting. I don't see why the MTA would increase service, though. I thought I heard something a while ago about increasing 7 Av service; maybe the R62As will go there.
  13. Wait, why can't the get all of the R62As from the ? If I missed something that somebody already said, I apologize.
  14. Why would the and both get R62As? Isn't it better for the MTA to have only one line with a mixed fleet rather than two?
  15. @ TwoTimer, can you please tell me where the timers are on the Fulton express between Euclid Av and Hoyt-Schermerhorn, and how fast they clear? Oh, and you don't have to mention the slow ones coming into Broadway Jct; I already have heard about those.
  16. Really? Where did you hear that? Who (besides railfans) would want to keep their old trains instead of NTTs?
  17. Wait, so the speed limit's because of the curve? I thought it was one of those things about stopping distance because of the signal spacing.
  18. Wow. This is a hard one. some trains run Jamaica Center - Myrtle Av, some trains run Jamaica Center - 57 St/6 Av I'm not extending ANYTHING to 168 St.
  19. Are the speed limits stopping distance-related? Because if trains can't stop safely from over 35 MPH, then sadly, they shouldn't be going faster than 35 MPH...
  20. But, there have been cases of T/O's not following speed limits. Human error can always happen.
  21. That makes sense, although the crash happened at 35 or so MPH. The signals on the bridge were designed for 28 or so MPH. Apparently, that's why they slowed down the SMEEs (because a lot of signals were designed for slower trains).
  22. Wow, the R160s seem to be really fast trains...How come the MTA considers them safe to be used with the signal system? After all, acceleration was found to be an issue in the Williamsburg bridge accident (NOT INTENDED TO BE A RETURN TO THE FIELD SHUNTING DISCUSSION!). EDIT: maybe they have good emergency brakes to allow them to stop quickly after red signals...I don't know.
  23. How about next time you try simplifying your solution rather than complicating it to the point of confusing passengers? You can't expect everyone to read the MTA website to figure all of this out (if this happened in real life).
  24. If all trains were THAT far off schedule, then on-time performance would be MUCH worse than it is. I don't want to turn this thread into an argument about the schedule, but if you don't believe me, you can see this video: The train is at Howard Beach at 19:00, and at Jay St at 49:00.
  25. The problem is that Wallyhorse actually thinks he's being practical... Lefferts Blvd/Far Rockaway - Utica Av, local between Broadway Jct and Euclid Av 207 St/168 St - High St (trains relay using switches south of High St) single-track shuttle, Broadway Jct - Franklin Av Coney Island - Bergen St 179 St - York St (uses switches south of York St to relay) Bedford-Nostrand Avs - Court Sq terminates at 2 Av terminates at W 4 St manhattan-bound trains terminate at 36 St using switches north of the station single track shuttle, 95 St - 9 St Queens - Whitehall St Coney Island - Prospect Park 241 St - South Ferry Flatbush Av - Eastern Pkwy 148 St - Chambers St Woodlawn - Borough Hall New Lots Av - Eastern Pkwy, local Dyre Av - Borough Hall
