  1. Like I said, the normal 6 Av Fastrack is in effect. That means: trains run in two sections; 205 St - 2 Av via 8 Av local, Coney Island - W 4 St trains are re-routed via the line between Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av and W 4 St suspended ends service in Manhattan/Queens Blvd You can re-route these lines however you want, but the 6 Av line from 47-50 Sts to W 4 St is unusable at this time. (Trains can enter W 4 St on the 6 Av tracks, however).
  2. I'm sure quite a few foamers will be up ALL night long waiting for that 42...
  3. NEXT: The switches on the Queens Blvd express tracks at Queens Plaza are stuck in a position set for the 60 St tunnel. 6 Av Fastrack is in effect, by the way .
  4. I didn't know that the Cranberry St tunnel was that fast (I'm pretty sure that TwoTimer is referring to the Cranberry St tunnel).
  5. I thought maybe it had something to do with the field shunting...
  6. That makes sense. Why did they even send it to Whitehall in the first place, if W 4 was an option?
  7. Okay, I don't feel like doing the buses...But trains: Coney Island - W 4 St runs in two sections; 205 St - 2 Av station via 8 Av local, Coney Island - W 4 St runs in two sections; Jamaica-179 St - 47-50 Sts, Coney Island - Delancey St runs via 8 Av local runs via 8 Av express 242 St - 96 St; trains skip 103 St, 110 St, 116 St, and 125 St. 241 St - 96 St 148 St - 96 St single-track shuttle trains run between 96 St and 59 St-Columbus Circle (for transfer to ) runs in two sections; New Lots Av - Brooklyn Bridge, local between Utica Av and Atlantic Av, Woodlawn - Grand Central-42 St (uptown trains run local from Grand Central-42 St to 125 St) Dyre Av - 125 St Pelham Bay Park - Grand Central-42 St runs in two sections; Coney Island - Atlantic Av, Astoria-Ditmars Blvd - 57 St/7 Av suspended runs in two sections; 95 St - Whitehall St, 71 Av - 57 St/7 Av special single-track shuttle trains run between Canal St and 28 St Whew! That was hard.
  8. Yeah. I don't think I'm the first one to say this, but people shouldn't act like the R62/A is the "R32 of the IRT". If anything, it should be compared to the R68/A, which is similar in age.
  9. I've noticed that Brooklyn-bound trains always announce the at Bowling Green...I was quite surprised the first time I heard it... Anyway, here's my random thought: Isn't this R62 train making a really weird noise? I've been wondering about this for a while...(Go to 00:40 in the video) Kind of like a jet engine. Well, this video's pretty old. Did all R62s used to make that sound?
  10. Didn't you say something about visibility-related speed limit signs (no timers) at W 4 St?
  11. I still have yet to understand how politics can affect car assignments, since the MTA (not elected officials) have control over it.
  12. I see. I still think it should be at least GT35...I'm pretty sure that those timers clear at 25-30 MPH. Are there a lot of visibility-related timers (I sadly think of W 4 St n/b on the in our near future)?
  13. 50 is sometimes possible in those areas, but definitely not 60 MPH... In any case, the answer to my quiz was the train, going at 42 MPH. The train went 40-41 MPH. Still, it's close. I thought I could trick you guys into thinking that the was much faster, as shorter cars generally look faster (because each car, each window, and each door pass you more quickly). That's part of why people think that 75-footers are so slow... Okay, here's the next SPEEDy video for you guys:
  14. Yeah, that's one of my favorite express runs, with that "surge" of speed going down the hill...I don't see why they would ever want to put in timers, as it's only 40 or so MPH. What I really don't understand is the timers at Christopher St...
  15. @ GojiMet86, that seems to be a big problem with railfanning and "train-hunting". 99% of the time, you'll be disappointed with what you find...
  16. FOAMFOAMFOAM!!! No, seriously, I hope someone gets some videos of that...
  17. Good point. Okay, some trains are re-routed via Lexington Av express, and some trains run via Lexington Av local. Some trains leave service for Lenox or Livonia yard.
  18. suspended runs express between 59 St and Canal St uptown trains run express from 34 St to 72 St downtown trains run express from 96 St to 34 St
  19. Okay, the answer is that they're both going at the same speed, 30 MPH. Here's another one: Which train is going faster:
  20. The one problem is that the Culver Line from Ditmas Av to Coney Island is a BMT line.
  21. I think you misunderstood my post; ALL BMT lines south of Atlantic can't be used:
  22. Where are you going to put the trains that aren't in service?
