  1. I think its actually somewhere between Jay and Chambers, the switches at W4 have not been used lately in unplanned service changes
  2. I would say the would have gone via 59th st instead of 63rd st if the 63rd st connection wasnt open. Similar to that Christmas weekend meltdown at the 53rd st interlocking a few years ago
  3. The GO has been reposted. Seeing as all downtown service thru W4 on both 8 ave and 6 ave is on the respective express track, maybe it is for the W4 interlocking. Also, the weird routings are probably because of the lack of switches to the Rutgers tunnel after W4. Since 6 Ave still needs service, the can run normally The therefore can run via 53rd st/8 Ave express/Cranberry to Jay St and normal over Culver To avoid the all sharing one track, the can replace the via 63rd then run via Broadway to Whitehall. Since the must run via 63rd/Bway in both directions, the uptown can go via 6 Ave local/53rd St to replace the (E). The side benefit being 57th/6 Ave is left clear for station work
  4. Power has been shut off on the south of Chambers. The person may be running around near the entrance to Montague Most likely turned at City Hall lower level, switches are just south of Canal St upper level.
  5. This was mentioned on the R179 thread but why is the s/b IND Culver express track almost entirely 2shot timers between 7 ave and Church Ave? The signals appear to be of the newer type (like those at the 34th St/6 Ave, Roosevelt Ave, South Ferry, 2nd ave, and Hudson Yards areas)
  6. I am not seeing this on the planned service changes site. Only hints are express from 21st st to 71 ave and no late night between 59th St/4th ave and Whitehall. Not that i dont believe it, but the site looks incomplete
  7. The downtown QM drivers will do that once in a while in the AM if there is traffic on the ramp
  8. There is a one shot timer in the middle of Prince st, but i think it is not new.
  9. Had that happen last fall pick, guy would park the bus mid run and use the bathroom at a white castle on Queens Blvd almost every morning before getting on the LIE. Everyone just would sit there like WTF
  10. The bus and those stuck behind may still be there, but i got on a QM7 that stopped for us. Probably 45 minutes. Others may still be there. It was a QM11 that broke down, a 3xxx series
  11. So i got to find out personally what happens when a bus breaks down in the LIE HOV lane: call MTA cops and board other buses in active lanes of traffic. I feel bad for the people stuck behind us
  12. If something goes wrong on Broadway it's game over. 53rd st, 6 ave, Crosstown-Culver connection, and s/b Broadway express are now all OOS.
  13. This evening around 7pm at Woodhaven Blvd and the LIE, I saw a deadheading QM12 with an interesting headsign. I wasnt able to get a pic. It said somthing to the effect of Your pollution solution Has anyone else seen this on the MCIs?
  14. Same here. Downtown meaning via 53rd st/6 ave/Manhattan Bridge?
  15. The 34th st 6 Ave interlocking got cut over this weekend. All the "new" signals at 34th and 42nd went into service. I know theyve been bagged for 3 to 4 years already but they look fresh! I've also noticed a trend with several new interlockings where station time on the mid station signal(s) is explicitly displayed until they turn yellow
  16. I've seen them have trains wait to start their runs to Brooklyn on the express track, then switch to the local, while (e) and would run through on the local track. This was when work was being done further down the line and not at 71 Ave
  17. Yeah, the QBL towards Forest Hills/Jamaica was jacked up on both tracks, trains following each other on station timers like crazy
  18. How will lenghtening blocks increase throughput? Sorry if this seems like a noob question
  19. What happens when t/o s punch the wrong lineup? Will they get disciplined or taken OOS? The twitter people mentioned it here
  20. There is still an R142 set with the shortened announcements. I got it on the today, i think it was car 6594
  21. Yep, via 8 ave/Culver and via 63rd St/Broadway/4 ave/West End
  22. Thats probably the same driver I had yesterday on the QM11, was 15+ minutes late. Hes been there since the winter pick.
  23. When a new pick is in effect, do all drivers switch runs? Seeing different drivers on th CP express runs i usually take, not all are good.
  24. How is the speed in Automatic mode during regular conditions compared to running with block signals?
