  1. I've never seen the WD10 active at Queens Plaza. Though coming into the station towards Forest Hills I'd say about 40% of the time we have to wait at the signal outside of the station for a route, which is a bit annoying.
  2. Agreed that there are probably a lot more spots that will be fixed on the Going through the 11th st cut is very dependent on the operator. Some go the posted speed, others take it really slow.
  3. @RR503 your posts are great, always a good read. Same for @Dj Hammers. This also reminds me of how the Canal St interlocking on southbound 8th Ave works, almost exactly like you just wrote since the T/O has to punch there to get a route. Always has to go in on timers.
  4. Those Archer Ave stations could use a bit of work. For being only 30 yrars old they havent aged too well
  5. Yes I'm sure. I spend almost every weekday waiting for an express or local there in both directions. The new interlocking was cut over in stages about 2 years ago. What used to happen on all tracks, assuming no diverging route set and a green or yellow homeball, was: All the mid platform signals (3 or 4 of them on each track) were red by default with no train approaching. The signal just before the station i think was yellow. Shortly before the train approached, a lunar ST number (20 or 15) lit up for a few seconds on all the signals. Then they cleared to yellow, and the signal before the station would turn green While this was happening, the train approaching the station slowed down a bit. Noticeable but not severe. Some time around August, the operation of the mid station signals on all tracks was changed to a more normal ST operation. Now they are yellow by default, and the ST only shows up if a train is either leaving or has just left the station, or if a diverging route is set. I do agree that the STs are miscalibrated, despite the fact that the new interlocking has explicit STs both before and while entering the station.
  6. Another highlight, specifically mentioned on here and youtube
  7. Antecdotally the situation going eastbound at Roosevelt in the PM was bad even before the new interlocking and STs. Westbound i dont recall. Whats more, the operation of the new STs is less restrictive than what it was a year ago. The signals in the station used to be red by default when the new interlocking was cut over. Now they are all yellow by default, unless a diverging move is set I see Byford's response as a catchall, with Dominguez reassuring that STs are tested.
  8. So there was a twitter chat today on Twitter with Andy Byford and the speed team ( http://twitter.com/NYCTSubway ) about timers and speed. Thoughts on the q&a?
  9. I saw something interesting at Queens Plaza, they installed "Blind Trip" signs on the columns between the express tracks for southbound express trains (to the left of the track). Looks like they are there to warn about trip stops the TOs cant see coming around the curve
  10. The GO is posted on the site. trains run via 6 Ave/63rd St at all times from 445am Weds 12/26 to 5am Mon 12/31 trains run between Metropolitan and Chambers during the day/evening, and are entirely suspended during that weekend.
  11. A few weeks ago I was on an express to Jamaica (reverse peak) during the AM rush with the preceding train having departed about 5 minutes prior. Right after leaving Forest Hills we had to stop and wait about a minute for the homeball just before 75th Ave to clear to a green over green with no train in sight. That new interlocking is a POS in desparate need of repair or better tower ops.
  12. Maybe theyre doing work in the 11th st cut too, since that gets no service this weekend.
  13. Here is a list of a few of the planned fixes per an mta source. Not all inclusive.
  14. I'm guessing the bypass is to prevent overcrowding and to allow uninterrupted access to the shafts. They are replacing 4 elevators. Not just one. Even in private buildings each elevator can take months to replace.
  15. What does this signal with the white T mean? This was very recently installed on the n/b Broadway local at 34th st and also 42nd st. At 42nd, the T was lit under the green and extinguished right before entering Taken a few minutes ago at 34th St from an closely following a , sorry for the poor quality, it popped up by surprise.
  16. Brooklyn bound trains run local 71 Ave to 21st St and WTC bound trains run express Roosevelt Ave to Queens Plaza late nights during this service change
  17. Are all the switches on the east end of the pocket track fixed yet? Last I heard one of them (forget which one) was OOS
  18. Wasn't that, the train I was on went from the express track to 63rd st, the signal problem was in the 21st St station itself.
  19. Why would trains be sent via 63rd when the signal problem is still at 21st? C/R on my said we were going via 53rd but we went normal route anyway. The train was inching through 21st St and the interlocking there. Shortly after I got the alert.
  20. Does CBTC govern speed through stations? Or is that still left to the T/O? I was on a that ran express on the local track, and the station bypasses were done at a slower speed than on other lines (like the on QBL)
  21. Oct 20 and 21 12 minute headway for the is listed, due to "station improvements"
  22. Why were the physical timers on the curve put there in the first place? They werent there until about 2 or 3 years ago, and the trains operated fine at the faster speed.
  23. i was driving on Union turnpike yesterday and saw one of those bus stop signs with the LED countdowns for the Q46 at Springfield Blvd
