  1. Hopefully you updated your prescription too. You will be able to attain a free pair of prescription safety glasses by getting your doctor to fill out a form attain either from your schoolcar TSS, Material Control, or Stillwell Crew Reporting Center (CRC). You do not need to have the form filled out by GVS. You only have to go to their store if you want to try out the safety glasses.
  2. You're going to have to wait for DCAS to send Transit another certification list. There's someone else who said he was reinstated on 4/20 and hasn't posted since so probably waiting too. My brother, who's 39XX, recently just restored his name to the list due to a medical hold as well so you're definitely not alone.
  3. As long as it takes. At this point it seems like people in the 40XX range are being called for medical right now.
  4. (Lines given are what you can take to get to the terminal/yard) Adding to what Keikyu said. If you don't feel like driving or want to save money, you can take the LIRR's (for free) Atlantic branch when reporting in Brooklyn to get to 95 St. , Stillwell , Coney Island Yard , Church Ave (take and then ), Brighton Beach , East NY Yard (LIRR stop), and Canarsie . You can also take it towards Penn Station for 207 St Terminal, 207 St Yard , Bedford Park/Concourse Yard ( and then the or and then the ), 168, 96 St. , City Hall (walk from Chambers St or WTC stop), Whitehall/South Ferry , Broad St (walk 1 block from Wall St stop). In Queens, you can get off at Woodside and take the to Queensboro Plaza and the for Ditmars. At Jamaica, you can get to Jamaica Center , 179 St. Terminal (Q43 bus or to Kew Gardens and transfer to ), Jamaica Yard , Forest Hills (LIRR stop or ), Lefferts Boulevard ( to 121 St or to Kew Gardens and then take the Q10 bus) , For Middle Village Metropolitan, take the at East New York and transfer to the at Myrtle Wyckoff. The LIRR goes to Far Rockaway and it's about a ten minute walk to the terminal, but here and Rock Park might be faster for you to drive since you live so close. For Rock Park, take the to Broad Channel and transfer to the Rock Park Shuttle . Euclid Ave terminal and Pitkin Yard are in no man's land so driving is probably best for you as well or take the or to Broadway Junction and transfer to an (get off at Grant Ave for Pitkin Yard). _____________________ In the A division, you can take the LIRR to Penn Station and take the to their terminals in Manhattan/the Bronx. Take the to connect with the and at 3rd Ave/149 St. You can get to Pelham Bay Park/Parkchester by taking the to 53rd St/Lexington Ave and grabbing the there. If you're ever sent to the Brooklyn side, you can take the LIRR to Atlantic Ave and catch any of the trains you need to get to their respective terminals there. Although with New Lots Ave and Crown Heights terminals, you can take the at East New York and transfer to the at Livonia Ave. If you ever become CBTC qualified, you can take the LIRR to Woodside and transfer to the Port Washington train to Flushing or take the from there.
  5. Considering Afs' list number is 50XX, I wouldn't hold your breath.
  6. According to the NY DMV website, if you get 11 points within 18 months, your license may be suspended. That said, if you really need to, then you can tell them that you want to defer until you get your situation resolved.
  7. Depends on what part of Queens and if you drive, but generally it's the B division. Take a look at a subway map and see where all the terminals are. Every pick can end differently. It comes down to what people prefer. Some people rather take the scraps that's left than to do XL and be subjected to the crew office.
  8. Extra list is by district, but yes generally they'll try to keep you on the end that's more convenient for you. They can still send you to the other side though. Ex. You live in Queens and is best to go to CTL for the R, but they can still send you to 95 St. Or instead of 179, they'll send you to Stillwell, Coney Island Yard, or King's Highway.
  9. In a few years, you will be able to pick although likely it won't be ideally what you want or you can try and go for the vacancy bids that happens at the start of the pick. Keep in mind, when you do start to pick you will not see the weekend for a long time unless you manage to win a job off the vancancy bid that has it.
  10. The A division with the terminals for the 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6 trains. The D train is the only line in the B division in the Bronx.
  11. The only thing being a veteran does is allow you to reduce your years of service when it comes to retirement. There have been times when Transit had to push back people who had passed medical to the next class to accomodate those who were skipped.
  12. On the forms you are suppose to fill out your work history since you graduated high school.
  13. Claim you forgot. Especially if it was a job you didn't hold for long.
  14. Is the long commute due to where you (and your classmate) live in general or the far reporting locations the Crew Office give you? Generally, when you first come out, they will throw you everywhere they please, but as time goes on they'll start to keep you close. I do have to warn that even when you do finally get to pick years down the road, chances are you are taking what little remains and they might not be ideal for your living situation either. That said, this is why the Crew Office will generally give those in XX jobs later in the day as the week goes by so you have time to recover. If you think your situation will be better by switching divisions, I highly advise you keep that in mind when the next pick after comes to put in a request. I had won a job off the vacancy bid with 1.5 hour commute each way and it was brutal so I can definitely understand your situations.
  15. Schoolcar will teach you and they can answer questions you may have if you have trouble understanding something. Aside from learning to operate in the yard/road, you will learn to inspect, troubleshoot, and prepare a train for movement/service. There are two signal exams which you must pass with a 100% grade. There is a final exam that goes over most of what you learned, but can pass with a few wrong answers. You will have two yard practicals both of which you can retake one more time and a road practical at the end that you must pass.
  16. Well, if you read a few posts up, you'd see that somebody had barged their way in to do the medical to get in the class, so it wouldn't hurt.
  17. The drug test comes first. Sounds like you gotta get the card in hand and I would just go back as soon as you can. Unless you miss the next class entirely, you will retain your place in seniority compared to other people that are behind your list number. I was on medical hold, but my list number determined my seniority not when I was sworn in.
  18. Your list number is still awhile away so you should be fine. You mainly need all your documents ready by the time you get to the day of your medical. If you need to replace your Social Security card, you can try and do it online on their website.
  19. You should sober up by then. People usually drink on their first day off and then cool it on the second.
  20. The last person to mention they went to medical was 35XX
  21. The people in that office are paper pushers that dot their i's and t's. Try to get in touch with your school if you don't have it.
  22. Did you go back to 180 Livingston and give the doctor your test results? When you were put on hold, they should have told you to come back ASAP with the results.
  23. Given someone here in the 34XX a couple pages ago said they are going in for medical and if you really want this job, I would check your spam folder, contact them, and/or go to 180 Livingston 5th floor and find out what happened.
  24. Yes, it starts on your first day. Yes, all the rates you see in that PDF is for top pay.
