  1. Every title under TWU Local 100 are due a 2.75% increase which as it stands for us is around a dollar. Schoolcar trainees are under Train Operator (Yard); TWU Top Pay Rates PDF
  2. Usually the next thing you hear is to come in for medical or another drug test and that can be weeks or months away.
  3. Probably meant someone told him he had to do things like climb on and off trains. He also mentioned the pension reform which is a recent development.
  4. I'm going to bet the orientation is just someone who told him what the job entailed.
  5. I would give NYCERS a call if you can, but from reading past posts about this, you will keep your tier and years of service (make sure to fill out the transfer form), but you will stick to Transit's 25 years of service/55 to retire plan. So my understanding is your five years will add to the 25 giving you 30 years on your pension.
  6. Everyone has their own way of operating trains. Just find the one that's comfortable for you without discomforting the passengers. I'm not sure if A division training now include CBTC, but you can always request to be trained for it after finishing schoolcar which is what you'll need to operate on the 7. As XX, you can be assigned to any line, anywhere. As for trying to get the 7 in the vacancy bid, you never know until you try, but remember you'll be at the bottom and someone higher in seniority can win the jobs you want.
  7. Noo thanks lol Keep that away from the PM tour. In the end, past 2000 like the test train jobs and onward are really the realm of the midnight tour. 2000 board and was just a ridiculous way to get PM T/O to pick up midnight jobs when they should just make more midnight board jobs. The latest PM job in the B starts 1900 which is a switching job at MET and I believe one that starts at 1910, but forgot where.
  8. Generally not anymore. If it's after your clearing time, the train dispatcher can ask whether you want to make an extra move or trip or not, but they can't force you to do it. However, if your train is late on your last interval, you are still responsible for it and they can order you to help clean out and/or lay-up the train. If you're rerouted to a foreign terminal, you have to stay with the train unless the dispatcher says otherwise. SevenEleven basically answered your question, but pretty much you can no longer keep calling out sick without doctor's lines "An employee who is placed on the Sick Leave Control List must provide medical documentation for all sick leave absences including unpaid absences, regardless of duration. Failure to do so will be cause for loss of pay, if the employee would be normally entitled to same, and may be cause for disciplinary action. Employees hired on or after April 29, 1988 who at any time are on the Sick Leave Control List will not be granted sick leave with pay for the first (1st) day of any sick leave instances while on such list" The first day you call out sick, you won't get paid for it.
  9. Keep in mind, schoolcar's goal is not to fail you. They want and need you to pass. Very few fail the exams/practical. Just gotta make sure you spend the time to study and don't be afraid to ask any questions. They're not paying you $36 an hour during training only for you to flunk a few months in.
  10. Yea, shouldn't have wrote about the 70/30 thing. While I have you here, you should update the starting pay as $36.4875.
  11. 1. Yes. 2. You will be put on sick control as it's 70/30. As long as you submit doctor's lines you should be fine. For the sake of an official and accurate answer, please refer questions like this to a union rep. In fact for anyone who are already in schoolcar/graduated and have questions about the job, please talk to a union rep. As someone working XX, you will be sent anywhere at any time. In a given week for example, you may find yourself working the A at 4AM out of 207 Yard on the first day of your week. Second day, they can put you in a D job at 430AM out of Coney Island. Third day, at 530AM you can be sent to the E at Jamaica Center. Etc, etc, etc. They start you early in your week and late at the end so your "weekend" can be cut short. The hours will vary for each job depending on what it entails. Some jobs do clear at other locations. And as mentioned before, they may change your tour and/or RDOs on a weekly basis,
  12. There was someone here who said they found Transit had email him months ago without realizing it and was still allowed to go through the process. You did your due diligence emailing/calling them back to tell them what happened. I highly suggest you come in with the documents they requested in the email as sooon as you can. I hope your recovery goes well.
  13. Email/call them back that you don't have your documents yet and you would like to reschedule.
  14. It is a form of punishment. Platform will last as long as their investigation which varies. It is a conductor's, not a T/O's job so you stand out. You don't get to operate trains and therefore it doesn't count towards your retirement, and you're stuck standing on the platform eight hours a day. Edit: I should note though some people do take it as a break and as a way to earn easy OT if there's open platform jobs they could fill. You'll be alright.
  15. Platform is when you are waiting for Transit to finish investigating your case and you at least still get to work and be paid, but your retirement date gets extended. You will usually be assigned to terminals to open cab doors for the cleaners or get people off trains that are being laid up. You can also work at intermediate stations where you have to let passengers know of service changes. _____ Never be afraid to ask for a TSS when making a move you are not familiar with. No matter how stupid you think you'll look, it's much worse when you do something you're not suppose to. Certainly ask the dispatcher how you are suppose to do the move or a fellow train operator. Ask the tower where you're suppose to go. Just ask someone. Don't go in blind.
  16. Well normally, one would have written a resume... To everyone else, over the years some people have had to do a third or even a fourth drug test (IIRC). It sucks, but part of the process.
  17. Chances are, you're filling out the whole thing again with updated employment details and the date signed on the forms. Even if you didn't quit from your job, they want the form to reflect that you're still with them when you come back in.
  18. Adding a bit to what Keikyu said. Even when you finally do get a chance to pick, the jobs and RDOs may actually choose you as you get the scraps of what's left. Which is why bidding on a job may be the best thing you can do for the years to come even when you do get to pick. A vacancy bid happens after the pick starts and is a list of jobs vacated by people who retired, promoted, quit, or temporarily out on worker's comp, leave of absence, etc. If you want something more stable, bidding on a job is the way to do it. I myself have won three temporary jobs during my time. After having my current job for a month, I'm about to go back to XX as the original train operator is returning from worker's comp.
  19. You are waaay too far out to be removed from DCAS. You just have to wait and see. Your RDO and tour can be changed on a weekly basis and you can be sent anywhere. If there was one thing the height of the pandemic did, it was to generally keep people in the tour they wanted since every tour was missing many people. Now with all the conductors that have been hired ahead of you, this may not hold true anymore. They have and had before the pandemic switch people up constantly. Just keep in mind railroading in general is not an easy job to have with a family or to plan things out in general.
  20. Just say you were on disciplinary probation. In the end it sounds benign anyway. It's not like you were written up for harassment or stole something. Transit doesn't really care what you did as long as you mention it.
  21. Nowhere, you gotta figure it out. Looking back, it looks like the last range of people that were sworn in were 42XX and keep in mind the list has been active for 5-6 years.
  22. They will notify you when the time comes. If you do not know your list number, you can search yourself in DCAS and see how long you have to wait compared to the others posting here.
