  1. Plenty of rats racing about [emoji193] Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk If I recall, a few of the stations on that division were re-tiled, got new benches, and perforated staircases. I clearly remember: 103rd Street got rehabilitated Astor Pl got rehabilitated (unrelated, the cube was also reinstated topside) Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk You're talking about the locked staircases under Amsterdam Ave? Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk A lot of them do, and that's mainly because they HAVE uncleaned bathrooms. When you swipe in strangers, they become a liability to the public restrooms and station aesthetic. The mta is dismal in its upkeep but swiping it forward for ungrateful hobos makes it far more intolerant. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk They're bathroom tiles, to build on @Union_Tpke's momentum. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk That place looks like a DUNGEON Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  2. Those machines are modular.Dollar feeders can be fitted on top of the old token bay. Or they can use that same bay to make the cards dippable like the autogate. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  3. Reminds me of the B8 this morning during the DeKalb outage. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  4. Which still leaves commuters with them. Good point. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  5. Don't worry. I won't report you any more. I'll just mute you. ???? it keeps my bells clean. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  6. I stand corrected. I wasn't wearing my glasses when I first read it. My mistake. ???? Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk Sounds like consoling for Community Board 10. The is the sole subway option in their area. Somebody mentioned similar wording for the . Some neighborhoods are only served by the too. I think the reasons are related. When the only subway in a neighborhood is shut down. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  7. This forum does not let me edit posts after a particular period. I acknowledged that I made a mistake by ???? each post that corrected me. Twice. At this point I find the idea of members being hung up on my missteps unhealthy for this forum and it's focus. Just drop it. (Btw I don't expect you to but I'm not asking either.) ???? 8. Regarding @via_garibaldi_8's forwarded piece on Penn Station, I've heard that budget cuts to Amtrak will have a significant impact on its long distance routes. I'm sure the cost cutting will affect its legal war chest. The Trump administration is withholding the funds until Amtrak can deal with the calamities in NEC. If the MTA files suit, they could win stewardship of their tracks. I think if it does occur, NJ should join class so they can assert repairs as well. In my eyes, Amtrak has that "Too Big to Fail" mentality. That's why they're losing dollars. Kinda wished that happened in 2008 instead of the golden parachutes... Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  9. I've always wondered why a station that big didn't have an overpass. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk Signage says starting on April 26th at a qtr to midnight Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  10. This happens? ???????? Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk Fare beaters are a liability by themselves. I've never seen that happen. But I'd be ???? it.People who can't contribute to the system aren't good for it. I don't like the fact that our fare is this high. But breaking the rules I don't like doesn't make them go away. More or less, not participating in hearings and the civic process doesn't make problems go away either. Like any untreated disease, it festers. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  11. You think I lean on mods? I don't need a mod to assert myself and put trolls in their place. I'm sturdier than that. I cry when I want, not when I'm told. You wanna cause indigestion with those comments then you can pep talk someone else. I've dealt with quippy people like you my whole life. I can mute you when I please and reply after thinking before I type. Unlike you. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  12. Funny you mention that. Sometimes my internet outperforms the library WiFi. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  13. You're right. I actually made the edit. Must've missed because I lost my signal. The #20 is my favorite bus. It allows transfers to two thirds of the whole [weekday] system just by itself. Another edit that seemed to fall offline. I actually double checked. Looks like I was too late. There's a threshold to how long you can edit a post. As for "street smarts", I haven't had a reason to go to SI since my Gram died. My know-how is rusty and less than "Rich". See what I did there? XD
  14. I used a monthly. Which means the cost was covered. The S79 would deviate sooner and it would make me take longer. In fact, it's why I didn't take the S93 because it forks away from its local counterpart after Hylan & Clove. When I take long bus rides I eventually form a pattern that becomes more attainable. If it works I don't try to make it faster. I like stable. I know the timetables, the tendency, the drivers and their "wheel feel". At least this way, I didn't have to get up as early. I prefer waiting for what moves instead of waiting to move. I take on urban transit with a suburban attitude. I'm more patient, humble & forgiving of a city whose shortcomings held it back half a century behind its peers. Kinda like wool but with holes in it so my street smarts can seep through. 15. Tremendous work. I'm sure you could create a better system than the mta has. They've never really tapped into their tech fully. Suburbs not only have better use of TSP, but use of FIND-like tech on buses. NJ, CT & NICE are the best implementations I've seen. They even back ported to their clunkers and it still looks good. By now, they've got new buses though. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  16. I missed all of this. Thank goodness I would've gone mad. I was in New Jersey... Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  17. Too much. Although I used to take the M21 on the way back. That bus was one of seven buses I took on a cross county joyride. I missed the bus festival so I had my own. Rode all my faves. Starting from Co-op City, 11:47 AM. Bx5 to Simpson St Xfer to Bx19 to Riverbank Xfer to M10 to Columbus Circle Xfer to M5 to South Ferry Got off at Houston St & Broadway to catch M21 (idle 21 min, boarded at 4:45 PM) Xferred to B39 at Allen & Delancey (idle 34 min) Xferred to B44 SBS Xferred to Q35 at Avenue H & Foster Finished at Beach 116th & Rockaway Beach Bl, 8:19 PM. Shame I couldn't hook the S53 in...place really is an island. Reminds me of Westchester having a little brother... Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  18. Agreed. The worst kind of line loafer, and they usually don't even pay. I push past them, manners withheld. Because if they make a stink they won't be on solid ground themselves. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk I took a Q10 decked with usb ports. They're overhead, similar to the express rides. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
  19. That's good to know. I noticed you guys were talking about connections to express buses. Since the HBLR stops at Hoboken, I was thinking PATH would be a better way to switch, as the cost is far less imposing ($2.75 vs. $6.50). I find the express buses dedicated to NJ roads and bridges quite vulnerable to traffic. When I used to visit my Grandma at her nursing home, I used to use Express buses quite often. I was stuck in traffic so long I almost gave up. But after poring through bus maps for answers, I noticed a bus that connected between SI and Brooklyn. Then I stopped buying express passes. And shaved 40 minutes of idle time on the Bayonne. The route was: Starting from SoHo - Spring Street Take to Jay St - MetroTech to Take to 86th St Take s53 to Cary Av & Broadway Xfer to s44 and disembark at Henderson & Lafayette. And then a brisk 4 minute walk. Do you guys think I could've found a better way? Some people have better experiences with express rides than I do.
  20. Do you think there's a way to extend a portion of the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail to cover the West Shore? The last stop for HBLR is about twelve miles or less from Port Richmond (over the river). I understand that the agencies are different, but squabbling aside, would there be an additional benefit for both sides (SI- an easier way to access NYC) (HBLR- an additional revenue stream)?
  21. I do follow the news. I actually read that article the day it was published. You're right. He was probably a bad tie-in. Nonetheless it's an election year, although I commend him (and Dept of Santiation) for not leaving them buried alive in tons of snow...
  22. I figured. I just used it as an example that Mayor de Blasio (nor the MTA) are not concerned with the city as a whole (which is five boroughs last I checked). A Tale of Two Mayors, a Richmond County Horror Story That was a tie-in. Of course I know the mayor has nothing to do with transit in NYC. I'm one of the 19% that understand where the strands are attached on this vicous political spiderweb. It does help going to transit fairs around the region. It's not in the best interest of riders to be blindsided on details, but they shouldn't expect politicians or the MTA to willingly fill in. Riders need to dig.
  23. Image from S79 SBS shows old fare sticker, an apparent symptom of neglect. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1MO-rZ51bLdg9YxC99RyN-3KvLBpGC_XFWw The Borough that we forgot This is why #statenisland residents feel #forgotten by #nyc: I saw this #negligent #afterthought affixed to an S79 LTD #earlier this week. My post on Twitter: https://t.co/DrrjJYqZ1v I find it amusing that the Mayor is only now focusing on Richmond County residents.
  24. A lot. I've been busy contributing to Maps. Sorry if I rub people the wrong way, but please, don't be petty. I'm nonetheless glad to be here.

  25. You have a serious problem when it comes to taking me seriously. You have nothing constructive to say, don't. You find fault in my posts, report it. Because I have been reporting you. Sent from my m8 using Tapatalk
