  1. I have three T/O’s from subways in my class. They all say that the environment is better here and management loves to pin everything on you in RTO regardless of your fault. Not sure how the vacation compares nor sick time but I think we’re relatively reasonable. Overall, I think they agreed the pension here is better. One thing I did hear is subways gives you a year off if you hit someone if you request it. Here, it’s usually 3 days off and then back to work unless you make a good case to EAP.
  2. They contacted me in like 2-3 days for locomotive engineer.
  3. Six additional Siemens chargers have been tacked onto the Metro-North order for a total of 33. The CDOT will be funding the cost of these. Still some potential options to be tacked on as well. Up to 14 additional can be added, some for LIRR and some for NYSDOT. https://www.railwayage.com/mechanical/locomotives/more-siemens-sc-42dms-for-metro-north/?fbclid=IwAR0gy6uKO0GCxkitTzL8gJ832xLwiKD6IiaFcyeyNOCxlaIHFP3rSFdmwhQ_aem_AQlhXtBJ0SmotwpTNoU7lJ7ojPOQItMIj23QK7dmT6LhMtqFz6n6YmlWSzglFtgi5-U
  4. Personally, I'd double check with the conductor before the train leaves Penn but they're hard to find sometimes. Even a ticket collector would probably give an okay till Woodside.
  5. There were talks of having just one MTA pass where it just says MTA (no agency or anything) at the top but I'm not sure if that's a rumor and even if true, probably won't be implemented till years later. This was told to us by one of the heads of security. Seeing that our respective passes are tied into timekeeping and such, they probably want to avoid the whole headache lol.
  6. Well, we're all waiting for the final plan to come out...
  7. The 27 should get artics but it really can't handle them routing-wise. Even if the route was shifted to CS and they had a extra artics for the 27, they still wouldn't put artics on that route. Think about Holly Ave and 46 Ave, there are some areas where buses cannot even pass side by side and sometimes drivers will double park so if the bus operator needs to manuever around it, the overhang on the backend might sideswipe the vehicle. Going into QCC, it's alright tight going in there with 40 footers coming in and out but with artics, it'll need a bit more space. The 27 is also a very frequent line so you already know the union will be up in arms over the frequencies being slashed.
  8. I'm sure employees will be one of the last people they care about to transfer over. My Metrocard pass expires Halloween of next year and I expect them to probably issue an OMNY card that might have the capability of linking to an account. I'm sure actual transit employees will see their passes transferred over before they get to railroad employees lol
  9. I believe they've transitioned to online entrance exams for the transportation craft employees. I would suggest brushing up on addition, subtraction and multiplication. They'll give you all the information to do the question within the exam so don't go in there memorizing how much senior, adult, peak vs. off-peak fares are etc. Signals and definitions should be multiple-choice. There should be a Hogan psych test at the end. Study hard!
  10. I believe so. A big “if” you get called again.
  11. Yes it's paid. Also, the training program lasts longer than that, about a couple months more. Did you happen to pass the initial exam?
  12. Should be on the back of the job application. I think it's the very last page?
  13. If it’s at American Legion in Babylon, you can drive or take the train to Babylon and walk. It’s a short 5 min walk from the station. Only caveat is you’ll have to sit around for about an hour while they get everyone else checked in.
  14. Can’t they pull some from the Q44 fleet for service or it’s thin over there too? I guess some are on the fuel line, some aren’t ready for service, some are getting repaired or maintained. I checked yesterday when it was mentioned and there was one 4700 on the Q12 lol.
  15. It’s a service cut lol. step 1: introduce artics -> cut frequencies and short-turns step 2: reintroduce 40 fters lol
  16. Maybe they’re restricting the older XD60’s just to rush hour service. It appears that apart from the main batch 5987-6029, the Q44 pretty much absorbs the local fleet from the Q12. At first, you didn’t really see anything from 6031 and up on the Q44 and then slowly, they’ve pretty much been assigned to the Q44 everyday. The 4700’s are still for the Q12 but they’ll throw them on the Q44 from time to time.
  17. The 20 in the early hours of the morning around 5-6 AM will sometimes pass the Q44 and the 20 is just skipping all the local stops and merely operates as more or less the express bus down Main. Their run time doesn't leave too much slack either so they're zippin it down Main like the 44. The 20 will also tend to pick up the slack of the 44 especially when there's a gap in 44 service. However, I've noticed the 44 timetable is actually quite strict and they're leaving pretty much on-time, rarely do I ever see a 44 wait it out. The funny part is the padding only exists at the peak of the peak so around 7-9 AM, they will sometimes have up to 5-10 minutes of padding and these could also be a change in drivers at Main St. The padding is more or less there when it doesn't need to be, there are a number of occasions there are 44's waiting the block before 39th Avenue for a space to pull-in.
  18. Good luck. You’ll know by 4PM tomorrow. Next class from what I hear is scheduled to be mid-late November. Heard two possible start dates.
