In any case something happens on Queens Boulevard that prevents the or from reaching their northern terminals, CBTC or not, this is what would happen:
would run via the to 168th Street.
would run to 96th Street if the issue prevents it from going north. Some trains would use the Crosstown cut to avoid the affected areas.
would run to Chambers Street with select trains already on 6th Avenue to 57 Street (or 168th or 96th depending on the scneiro)
trains would terminate at 96th Street or Astoria.
Or, service could have been rerouted via South 4th Street, a connection would have been built to the rest of Crosstown south, while a three track line could've connected to Fulton at Utica.
That's from when the Polo Grounds shuttle used to connect to Jerome.
Speaking of Polo Grounds, there was a picture floating around that some guy managed to reopen the tunnel between Jerome and Sedgwick Avenue's on the Jerome bound side at Sedgwick. I don't know if he was able to reopen the side at Jerome (near Yankee Stadium). But from what I saw, the tunnels in BAD condition.
I said it before and I'll say it again, tearing down the elevateds was a huge mistake.
What they should have done was first BUILD the alternative that they proposed of doing to replace the elevated BEFORE tearing it down in the first place.
Ah, so what they did was do a Nassau by rerouting all the Northbound trains onto the original southbound express track (or in this case the old southbound Fulton track.) It was done so that trains would stop at the same platform and because the current routing was problematic right?
I'm sorry, but don't have the R211's have to be modified to allow for cab signaling and have modified door controls (for Atlantic, Nassau, Clifton and Richmond Valley?) Not only that, don't they have to be linked in non-permenant sets?
I thought Crosstown was built to allow a connection from Queens Boulevard to Culver in the event of an emergency in Manhattan that would require a reroute. Nonetheless, Crosstown was the only line to be built that didn't run into Manhattan.
Question, in the video below, if you jump to Sutter Avenue, you'll see the routing to Atlantic Avenue and Broadway Junction. Was that section torn down, because the doesn't operate that way today.
Nope, the area from the end of Forest Park to the old Bridge above the active LIRR line is completely torn out and redone except for the bridges above Union Turnpike. Not only that, Woodhaven Junction's southbound platform was torn down so the bus company could get more space for their buses.
What're we going to do with the slowly being demolished Rockaway Beach Branch? Half of the line is already in shambles, and current new development are taking over the land. If we don't do anything soon, we'll lose our chance to connect the Rockaways to Queens Boulevard.
I don't know, but it certainly isn't good. However, I came up with an idea, why not have it be like this?
W| TO 86 ST/SEA BEACH
W| 4 AVENUE LOCAL
W| BROADWAY LOCAL
This way you reduce the confusion.
